"Hey freak! Get up!" "Yeah. Be a Man." "Try hitting her harder. I wanna hear her scream." The pain never stopped. If it wasn't from the kids it was from Mrs. Stanley, the lady in charge of this hell hole the state calls an adoption center, and if it wasn't from her it was from me. I'd been in Loving Hearts Adoption Center for most of my life, and believe me, there are very few loving hearts in this adoption center. Just Sam, Stacey, and Jamie, and all the little kids to scared to be friends with these jerks. I spent most of my time on the floor in pain, in my bunk on the other side of the room, or in the bathroom. "Shut up!" Mrs. Stanley screamed as she came into the room. The whole place went silent. She was totally hammered. She looked at me on the floor. "Why wasn't I invited?" She started kicking me in the gut with her steel toed boots. She always wore steel toed boots. She was that terrible cook from the army who made mush and potato skin soup, and always wore her green collared shirt, Flannel skirt that went down to her ankles, and her steeled toed boots. That women practically slept in them.I'm pretty sure she hated me. My goal for the past two and a half years was to leave. My whole life all I've wanted to do was runaway. My home life sucked, I spent some time in rehab and that sucked, and as you can tell, life at Loving Hearts sucks ass. "Hello?" a voice sounded from downstairs. "Coming." Mrs. Stanley chimed sweetly. She didn't look sweet. "Clean up and look happy you scum." Her voice was like a mix between a beluga whale, a dying donkey, and nails on a chalkboard. All the other kids ran downstairs to look cute and be adopted. I walked over to my bunk, grabbed my dark red hoodie, fixed my hair so it looked less "I just got beat up." to a more "I give up on this mop." look. I grabbed some concealer and used it on my arms, face, legs, and stomach, And looked in the mirror. I was wearing a black PTV shirt I had stolen from someone because all my shirts were covered in blood, gray sweatpants, and my Converse I had gotten last year. They were grey with blue insides. I had worn them out. There were holes everywhere and I had drawn all over them. I pushed up my sleeves then had second thoughts and pushed them down again, and left.
