Lily’s P.O.V.

No one was there. Their chairs were there but no one was in them. I walked down to the end of the stage and sat there, sulking. Just then Tony ran in. “Lily come on.” I got up and ran to him. He took my hand and brought me into the glasses place. “Here.” Lab coat man said as he handed me my new glasses. He fixed them to fit my face. I put them on and he took my old ones. “There you go. Enjoy.” “Thanks.” Vic went over and paid. We walked back to DEB and on the way there I saw the perfect pair of shoes. I grabbed them, sat down, and put them on. “That’s perfect.” Jaime said. “Totally Lily.” Mike agreed. “I love it.” Vic said, hugging me. “Umm…” “What?” I asked. Tony ran out. “What’s his problem?” Vic asked. He came running back with something in his hand. “Here.” He said in between breathes. He handed me a blue beanie. I put it on like a hat. “No. Here.” Mike said fixing it and the headband. “Okay, wait.” Vic said. He grabbed the headband and ran over and grabbed a different one. Mike fixed my hair, took it, put it on, and put the beanie on. “Perfect.” “Now that’s it.” “You’re so fucking hot!” Mike said then put a hand to his mouth. I laughed. “You’re not allowed to swear. Do you hear me?” he said. “Fuck that shit.” I said. He gave me a disapproving look and everyone joined in. “Fine.” “But you do look nice Lily.” “Yeah, yeah.” “Pouting will get you nowhere.” “Do you at least like the outfit?” Jaime asked. “I guess.” “What don’t you like it, tell us. We’ll fix it.” I looked down at my arms. You could see where I had cut and been hit. “How could you think this is perfect?” I looked at my stomach. “I’m so ugly and fat! I mean, look at these scars!” Everyone looked surprised at my comment but Tony. He looked on the verge of tears, and that put me on the verge of tears. What did I just say? I sat down on the floor and then everything just spilled out. “I hate myself.” I said through sobs. “I hate myself for starting. I hate myself for not stopping. I hate my body, and the scars, and my lack of confidence and for giving in to my parents, and for not telling you guys, and for leaving the little kids, and for being so girly….. Why am I even alive?” I said the end in a soft whisper, hoping they hadn’t heard it, but Tony definitely did. He sat down in front of me and started talking as tears streamed down his face. “I love you. I love your scars and your little tummy that’s so fun to tickle, and the fact that you need us to talk to strangers, and that you’re so brave, you told four grown men you wouldn’t tell them anything, and for caring enough to remember the little kids, and that you gave them the bravery to go on, and the way you wear guys clothes one day and a skirt the next, and your lack of fashion sense, and your confidence to wear what you want and not what everyone else wants, and your smile that lights up a room, and the fact that you’re the shortest of us but your character makes you bigger than any of us, and that you always put others first and never groan about your problems, and your constant rants, and your past, and what a bright future you have, and the fact that you’re so strong, you’re still alive. After all the bull shit you’ve been through, you still smile and that’s why no matter what you do or say, I’ll always love you.” And at that I collapsed onto him and everything went black.
