No Going Back

Wait...I Know You Guys!

“Lillian. Come on down honey. Don’t you want to be adopted?” Ugh! I hated my full name.
“I hate you" I said under my breath as I passed her.
“I wish I cared.” She retorted.
I went over to my usual spot in the library between two bookshelves in the children’s section. No one ever goes in there and the corner is just my size. I opened a book Sam had told me to read. He and Stacey were trying to convert me to some new bands. Pierce the Veil, Sleeping With…….Someone, and Of Mice and Men. There were more but those are the ones I remember. The book was a stack of papers held together by binder rings. It had all the lyrics to the newest Pierce The Veil album. I didn’t really know who they were, but I had promised Sam I’d read it and learn the lyrics.
“No unauthorized books allowed.” Mrs. Stanley said, and with that my book was ripped out of my hands.
I looked at her, raised my arms, and gave her a “what was that” kind of look. I sighed, knowing id lose the fight. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my MP3 player. I had gotten it used so there was music on it and with no computers that was the music I had to like. I stuck in my right earbud, turned it on, and went straight to my Go- List. Billy Joel blared through, blocking all noise outside and putting me in a bubble of pure Rock-And Roll joy. I watched as a pair of Vans walked over to me. They sat down next to me, legs outstretched, and reached for my left earbud. I turned it down as not to deafen them. As they put it in their ear mine fell out. Without looking up I handed them my earbud and pulled out the other one, and turned back up the volume. Anyone who wears Vans can handle it.

Jaime’s P.O.V.

I had watched as she walked down the stairs. Her feet were so quiet, I’d of never noticed she was there if I wasn’t looking right at the stairs. She flew down them, hoodie lightly swooshing around her waist, and a stack of papers in her hand. She went over to the library, a book lover, and out of my view. I walked in and found her in a corner as far away as you can get. The woman with the weird skirt pushed past me, grabbed the girl’s book, and left. The girl did one of those looks where you put your hands up and make a “Why?” kinda face. I lightly laughed. I walked over to her. By then she had her music in. I sat next to her, grabbed an earbud and stuck it in. Billy Joel was playing. My earbud was ripped out of my ear. Does she want me to leave? I looked over and saw that she was holding the other one towards me. I grabbed it and smiled. I hadn’t made her mad. I stuck it in. Billy was now louder, but not as loud as some of our parties can get. I looked over at her. She was sitting there with her knees to her chest, looking at my shoes, my favorite Vans.

Lily’s P.O.V.

He had sweet shoes. They were all shiny and new looking. I felt an arm over my shoulder. I leaned over onto nothing. I fell over, hands flailing, earbuds flying. I landed with my head on his lap. We both laughed. I put my earbud back in and reached over, playing with the laces of his shoes. We sat there for a second, enjoying the embrace.
“Time to go upstairs, everyone. Chop Chop.” said the dying chalkboard.
The moment was over. I turned off my MP3 player, wrapped up my earbuds, shoved them in my pocket and left. I bolted up the stairs before everyone. I jumped onto my bed and put on some Bon Jovi as I pulled out my blade collection. I grabbed one and made a deep cut on my upper arm. I breathed out as the blood oozed down my arm. It calmed me down. I went into the bathroom, washed the cut, and wrapped it in bandages I kept under the sink. I went back to my bed and lay down. My eyes felt heavy. If I fell asleep then I may wake up on the floor, or Vans might adopt me. Well, I needed to sleep.
“Lillian! Come down here darling!” Oh, right. I never get any sleep when she’s drunk.
“Coming.”
When she says darling, it’s your cue to be as gosh darn innocent as possible, or it hurts to sleep on any side. I took out one of my earbuds and made my way downstairs. “Be nice!” she hissed as she wacked me upside my head. I turned off my music and shoved it into my pocket. There were four guys. I had the strangest sense of Déjà vu.
“Wait…I know you guys!”
