No Going Back
The Dream
“Stop! Please!” I screamed as their feet made contact with me. “Please!” I looked up and one of them hit me in the face. I pulled into a ball but that only made it worse. It opened up the scars on my back. I could feel as their boots drove into them. They kicked and kicked and called me a freak and to me to just die. I wanted to leave, to let go, but I needed to stay. I didn’t know why, but I needed to stay. Then one final kick brought me to my breaking point. “I’m sorry.” I whispered and then, with one final scream, I let go.
I suddenly woke up. Everything hurt. I laid there while every scar, every cut, and every bruise throbbed.id had the dream many times before, but this time was different. Not only was Sam, Stacey, and Jamie kicking me, but Jaime, Vic, Tony, and Mike too. After the pain died down I realized I was in a bed. There was a window on the other side of the room. I knew I wouldn’t be able to fall back asleep, so I decided to find one of the guys. There was no clock in the room so I didn’t know what time it was. I found two doors and picked the one on the left. There was no light coming through the crack under the door so I stuck my ear to it. Dead silent. I decided to open the door and peek out. Pitch black. On both sides of my room were Pitch black. On both sides of my room were Pitch black. On both sides of my room were two doors. I didn’t know who I was looking for but I knew that I’d know when I found them. I started sniffing the doors. I came to one that smelled of stinky feet and cologne. I cracked open the door and sure enough, Jaime was sitting in his bed, with his earbuds in, doing something on his phone. I walked in and closed the door. He hadn’t noticed me. I walked over to his bed. It was really tall. I jumped up and tapped his arm. He pulled out one of his earbuds. “Hey. Shouldn’t you be in bed?” “I couldn’t sleep.” He set his phone down and helped me up. His covers were really soft. He switched earbuds and handed me the other. I looked at the clock on his phone, two o’ clock. “What time did we get back?” I asked as I snuggled under his arm. “One forty five.” “It takes forty five minutes to get back?” “No. you looked so peaceful, we didn’t want to wake you up when we brought you in, so we just drove around and talked for a while.” I laid my head on his stomach and felt his calm, steady breathing. He rubbed my back as Kick Me by Sleeping With Sirens played softly, and for the first time in a long time, I fell asleep to something other than Bon Jovi.
