Tables Turned

I Hope You Get Your Ballroom Floor

I paced back and forth in my room. Vic likes me? That's why he doesn't like Ben? That's why he wanted me to stay in his room when Jake broke up with me. It all makes sense now.

I just wish Lynn would hurry up and come back from the library.

Fuck it I'm going to find her.

I grabbed my jacket and slipped my fans on my feet and left the apartment. I didn't bother with the elevator, I need to get his adrenaline and energy out of my body. So I basically sprinted down the stairs.

Once at the bottom I swiftly walked towards the library, luckily for me it was only a 5 minute walk.

When I got to the library I searched everywhere for Lynn, I found her in the study area upstairs. She looked up from her books and gave me a very confused look. "Why are you here? What's up? Did something happen?" She began to panic. I guess I had a worried look on my face.

I sat down at the table across from her. "No nothing's wrong. But something happened." I said a little breathlessly.

"Spill."

"Once you left the apartment I decided to go for a shower and once again Vic had taken my shampoo. So I went into his room to get it and suddenly I heard his voice. He came back with Mike to get a sweater." I explained. She nodded for me to continue. "I panicked and closed the bathroom door."

"Oh no, what happened?" She raised her eyebrows.

"Mike asked if I was available and Vic said I was but he was obviously shady about it. Mike asked if Vic likes me and he basically admitted it but said it was pointless." I told her.

Lynn's jaw almost hit the table beneath her. "And why is it pointless? Did he say?" She almost shouted.

"Shh!" The librarian shush Lynn, whom just gave her an apologetic look and then gave me her attention again.

"Because apparently I like Ben." I shrugged.

"This is unreal." Lynn shook her head. "What the heck?" She gave me a very confused look. I mirrored the look and sighed. "What are you gonna do Sav?"

"I can't do anything really, if I ask Vic anything he'll know I heard the conversion." It was a pretty unfair situation on my part. My opinion still stands though, I don't wanna get involved with Vic because it might ruin our friendship.

"Why don't you just forget it for now and then when things seem appropriate, bring it up." Lynn suggested.

"Okay, I guess that's my only real option here." I shrugged. Lynn nodded and then picked her pen back up. "Thanks for listening to my pathetic life stories."

"You know I'm always here for ya." She grinned at me. I gave her a slight nod and then walked out of the library.

In all honesty though, my talk with Lynn didn't really clear much up for me.

I walked back to the apartment but took the elevator this time. Once I got to the right floor I stepped out of the elevator and down the hallway to my door, unlocked and opened it. To my surprise though, Vic was standing in the kitchen with a solemn look on his face. He looked up and smiled weakly at me. "Have a good day?" He asked softly.

Did I? Hard to say. "Yeah." I replied. And it was kinda awkward.

The past two weeks had been awfully boring. But tonight was the night of the masquerade ball and I was truly shitting my pants. I don't really know why but I just don't like the idea of having to choose someone to dance with.

My dress is black with long sleeves and poofs out at the waist and runs down to the floor. There is some glitter on the dress making it just that bit more special. My mask covered my eyes. It was black and had silver glitter like my dress, matching it perfectly. There was one black feather on the mask.

We weren't allowed to speak for the first dance so we had hanging boards that we could write on, mostly so we could learn the 3 facts and not have the person given away from their voice.

We arranged it so that me and Lynn would leave before Vic and Tony so they couldn't see our outfits. We didn't want them to give us away.

I drove us to the hotel where the ball was being held. "So do you think you'll end up with someone?" She asked, I turned the stereo down and looked at her with sad eyes.

"I don't know and I honestly don't care. I just wanna get this over with and then we can have a good night." I just couldn't deal with this bullshit anymore. It actually makes me very nervous. I could feel my palms begin to sweat now.

"It's gonna be fine Sav." Lynn reassured me. I gave her a quick, thankful glance.

I pulled into the parking lot and let out a shaky breath. "Let's go get it." I smiled at her. She nodded and got out the car. I put on my mask and followed her actions. Here goes nothing.
