Tables Turned

All Hype, No Heart

A knock on my bedroom door brought me out my little world, away from my studying. I got up off my bed and walked over to the door and opened it. Lynn stood on the other side with a small smile on her face. "What's up?" I asked her. She grinned from ear to ear and walked in.

"So we have to chat." She announced and threw herself down onto my bed.

"Okay? Do I know what about?" I asked.

"I don't know. But I'm here to ask what you remember from Friday night?" She sat up as I sat down on the bed across from her and crossed my legs into a basket in front of me.

"After skinny dipping, not much." I shrugged. "Why?"

Her eyes lit up in a strange way. "Did you hear Ben and Vic arguing?" I raised my eyebrows and shook my head no. "Okay, well that is why I'm here."

"Okay was I passed out when this happened or?" I asked her quickly.

"No you were talking to Tony. Anyway, so I was going back to your car to get a bottle of beer and then I overheard Vic's voice. He sounded really angry for some reason." She began. "I did the thing any rational person would do, and listened in. Ben began talking about how he had every right to do whatever he wanted with you and if he wanted to ask you out then he was going to. Vic got super pissed off and then started yelling at him about how you weren't ready for that and weren't over Jake. It was very odd." She finished.

"That is odd." I scrunched my face up at the thought of it. "Why the Hell did he but into Ben's business?" I questioned. Not specifically Lynn but just in general.

"I have no idea Sav, it's been bugging me all day and you were gone early this morning and I had to stay late for English to finish a paper. I've been dying to get home and tell you." She gushed. I gave her a small smile.

"Thanks. What does it mean though? Should I confront Vic?" I asked.

"If you wanna know his deal then yeah but what if he's just trying to look out for you? I mean he's a really good guy. How much do you trust Ben and how much do you trust Vic?" She put into perspective.

In all honesty I don't know. They are both good friends of mine so I don't know whom I like more or trust more. "Lynn I'm very confused." I sighed and dropped my head into my hands.

"Can I ask one specific question Savannah?" She said in a quiet voice. I looked up at her and nodded, keeping my chin in the palm of my hand. "Do you like Vic?"

"In what way?" I retaliated.

"Like like." She replied.

"I don't know." I said sitting up properly. "It's very confusing but I don't think so. He annoys me way too much and I'd rather just be his friend I think."

"What about Ben?" She asked.

"I don't know either. Ugh." I groaned again, louder this time.

"You don't have to do anything about any of this though. They're gonna do whatever they want and it ain't really your business until it direction involves you. So for now just enjoy not really being in the loop." She pointed out.

"What if I get involved directly?" I asked her.

"Just don't get too involved Sav, remember you have to see them a lot. And unless you're willing to make it work 100%, it could become very awkward." She gave me a weak smile.

"I think I'm over Jake though." I pointed out proudly. Changing the subject seemed like the only good thing I could do right now.

"I'm glad to hear it, it was not nice to see you moping around." She said happily and got off my bed. "I'm gonna go to the library. Vic is out with Mike and Tony so you're in yourself for now." She told me as she left my room. I waved her goodbye and took in the complete silence. It was nice.

Do I like Vic? I don't think I do but it's confusing. I think I might but I don't wanna ruin the friendship and I definitely don't want to make this living situation more complicated. It makes sense to steer clear of it all. As for Ben, I do like him but I don't wanna cause drama between me and Vic so that's a no go.

Why does this all have to be so complicated?

I decided I needed a shower so I went into the bathroom and noticed my shampoo was missing. Vic keeps taking it and using it to wind me up. I marched out of the bathroom and out my room, over to Vic's and walked in. Like Lynn said, he wasn't in. I went into the bathroom and looked around. After about 30 seconds I spotted my shampoo and grabbed it. "Such an asshole." I mumbled. I was about to walk out of the bathroom when I heard Mike and Vic's voice enter the front of the apartment.

I panicked and pulled the bathroom door shut with me still inside it. "I just gotta get my jumped Mike." Vic called out as his voice got closer to the bedroom. Please don't come in here, I begged.

"Is Savannah home?" Mike asked as he walked into the bedroom I guess, since his voice got louder and closer.

"I don't know why?" Vic replied.

"Just curious." Mike said. "So what's the deal with her Vic, you banging her or what?" Mike asked obnoxiously.

"No Mike." Vic said with a tired sounding voice. "Where the fuck is this sweater." He groaned dramatically.

"If you ain't banging her, can I?" Mike asked ignoring his brothers stress. I felt like gagging at the idea of sleeping with Mike.

"Why?" Vic questioned his little brother.

"She's hot." Mike said back. "Plus you ain't hitting it so I might as well."

"Just because I ain't hitting it doesn't mean you can. Besides, you're not her type." Vic said getting closer to the bathroom door. I stepped back a little in panic. I didn't have anywhere I could hide but I could try.

"You like her don't you." Mike said in a childish manner.

"Whatever." Vic said and his voice got further away. My heart began to slow down again.

"You definitely like her. That's funny, ask her out man." Mike said with a serious tone beginning to shine through.

"There's no point, she likes some Welsh guy from her econ class. I ain't got a shot against that accent." Vic sighed. My heart began to beat rapidly again. My palms were sweaty and the bottle of shampoo slipped out of my hand and smacked off the ground. The collision echoed around the bathroom and I felt like crying. They must've heard that.

But to God was on my side because I heard the front door opening and then shutting again. After 2 minutes, I came to the conclusion that they were gone. I quickly left Vic's room and dived into my own.

That was way too close.

BUT

VIC LIKES ME?!?!?
