It's Just A Bad Day

When Vic is set on working getting him to come out with everyone isn't the easiest thing. I managed to talk him into it and force him into getting ready. He was all ready and waiting for me. I sprayed myself with perfume and walked out into the hall. Vic looked up and smiled widely at me. "You look really nice." he told me.
"Just nice?" I teased.
"Spectacular." he rolled his eyes. Vic stood up and walked over to me. I reached up and wrapped my arms around his neck. I kissed Vic hard on the lips and he kissed me back. His hands ran down my sides and settled on my hips. I pulled away and laughed.
"We have to go."
"We don't." Vic growled. I chuckled under my breath and took his hand.
"We do. I am getting you out. You are not staying in this apartment. You've become such a recluse."
"I'm always like this when we're writing. It'll pass." he shrugged.
"Okay, you're working your ass off for the new record. But the other guys are out having fun. You need to have fun."
"I'm having fun." he mocked.
"But I want to get really, really drunk so I don't have to stress over what your cop buddy has found."
"Why do you need me to get drunk?"
"Because I need you to look after me when I can stand and then we can come home and you can take advantage of me." I joked.
"Take advantage of you?" he echoed. "I do like that I have permission."
"Shut up. Now come on." I groaned.
We walked outside Vic took me into a cab. I gave the driver directions and he started to drive. Vic leaned close to me and I raised my eyebrows. "You're not going to get too drunk tonight, are you? Vic asked me.
"Why?" I bit down on my lip.
"Because I know how you get when you're drunk."
"How do I get?"
"Immune to bouncers and police and other, stronger and taller people you want to piss off. Or at least you are in your head."
"But I have you to protect me."
"Because I'm bound to be the tallest guy in the club." Vic mocked.
"Size doesn't matter." I smirked at looked down at his lap. Vic laughed and playfully poked me in my side.
"You're going to get it." he laughed.
"Anyway," I grinned. "That's why you have Mike with you."
"What happened to Victor you can take them on. You're strong and need to stand up for yourself."
"Oh that." I mumbled.
"Yeah, that." he grinned back.
"That was back when you were My Victor. I needed to boost your self confidence. You have self confidence now." I explained.
"Aren't I still your Victor?"
"Well, yeah." I reasoned. "But you're grown up Victor. Grown up Victor doesn't need me. Little Victor did."
"I still need you, Ella."
"Of course you do." I smiled wryly. I didn't believe it. But if he wanted to tell me he needed me I couldn't deny him that.
"Ella." Vic sighed. We pulled up outside the club and I smiled.
"Pay the man, Victor." I said easily. Vic frowned at me but paid the driver. "Now come on." I urged. We went over to the doors and to the bouncer. He looked us over before he I.D.'d Vic and let us inside. I walked through the crowds and saw everyone at a booth. I sat down next to Tony who smiled widely at me.
"How are you, Drella?" Tony asked.
"I'm great." I told him and I leaned over to take a shot glass from Mike's hands.
"Hey!" Mike complained and his eyes found me. "It had to be you." he groaned. I sniffed the glass and smiled.
"Jack Daniels." I stated. "Your favourite." I grinned.
"Fuck off." Mike said, only half serious. I downed the shot and set the glass down on the table.
"So who wants to dance?" I offered brightly.
I rolled over in bed and groaned. Why didn't he stop me? Now my head hurts. I looked at my phone and saw it was 10 am. I have to meet Vic's cop friend in an hour. Maybe going out wasn't such a good idea. I made myself stand up and dragged myself out into the hallway. The light was on and I switched it off. I walked into the sitting room and collapsed down onto the couch.
"How you feeling?" Vic asked. He set a cup of coffee down in front of me and I smiled back at him.
"Thanks." I said. "I kind of want to decapitate myself so I don't have this killer headache."
"Go get ready. I'll get you some pain relief."
"Alright." I agreed and I pulled Vic down to kiss me. He pulled away and I forced myself to get ready. I went for a quick shower and got dressed. I finished my hair and make-up. Then I picked up Vic's keys.
"Remember, I'm here." Vic soothed before I left.
"I know." I nodded.
"I love you." Vic told me.
"I love you too." I replied warmly.
Then I left the apartment. I walked downstairs and outside. I went to Vic's car and got inside. The car started and I started driving.
When I reached the police station I parked up. I got out of the car and went inside. I saw Vic's friend walking over and I smiled.
"Drella?" he asked.
"Yeah, hi." I said, "you're Patrick."
"I am." he agreed. "Do you want to come to my office and I'll show you what I got."
"Sure." I nodded. I followed him down and corridor and into a room. It was cluttered and small, but there were a desk and two chairs. I sat down and he sat down opposite me. "So what did you find?" I asked.
"You were right about New York being the starting place." Patrick said. "Your mother lived there up until 1980 when she moved to LA. She lived her up until 1983. After that I can't find anything on her, at all. It's like she disappeared."
"Does that mean she died?"
"No. I don't think she did. The only explanation I think is likely is that's he changed her name."
"But why would she do that?" I frowned.
"I don't know." he shrugged. "But I do have an address for her last known place of work."
"Where is it?"
"I have address. The place doesn't technically have a name. So I phoned a friend of mine who lives in LA. He says the locals call it simply The Bar."
"So was she a waitress or a bar woman?"
"It's a burlesque bar." Patrick sighed.
"And she did what?" I rushed.
"She's listed as one of the performers there. Her stage name was Cherry." he explained.
"Can I have those papers?" I asked weakly.
"Of course." he frowned. "I'm sorry I couldn't find more."
"Thank you." I mumbled. I stood up and walked out of the room. I headed outside and leant up against the wall outside. At least I know now.

Notes

Hey! What did you think? Who was expecting that? What will happen? What about how Drella has been feeling about Vic? What will she do about her mother? :)

I love this series. You really need to write a sequel AND vics pov. You are seriosuly the best writer I have come across on this site. You've made me laugh, cry, and even angry.

I've spent all day reading this series! I had to endure my internet just randomly quitting on me about three times. I'm on vacation, so I'm pretty sure everyone thinks I'm a total loser, but it was so worth it! I would love to read any sort of sequel if you still have one planned.
