Going Back To the Past

"Anna wait up, Are you trying to leave me?" Alex said from a few feet behind me

My fast pace wasn't intentional. I guess I had just gotten distracted by everything that was clouding my head.What could Vic possibly say to me? God Vic, having to face him after what he said on stage, this should be interesting.

We came to an area wich the normal festival goers are allowed. There was a sign saying this area was only for bands and crew members. "Dude, we are going to get in trouble back here look at the sign," Alex said. He was right but surprisingly there wasn't anyone around enforcing the rules. By this time Alex had already turned around and started to walk back to where we came from.

"Anna over here." I looked up to see Tony waving his hand over his head, signaling that I need to come over there. I turned to get Alex, He had already started to make his way back towards him. His eyes were wide and mouth open. The only words that he could manage to say were. "What is going on?"
"Well I'm going to talk to Vic and you are going to hang out with the other guys"
His eyes got bigger. once we got to Tony I Introduced Alex.
"Tony this is Alex he is a friend of mine."
" Hey man, You were at the signing early right?"
"Yea I was.'' Alex was still too shocked to actually make conversation.
"It's good to see you again, you know not running away and all," Tony said to me
I looked down at the ground, he then tried to save the conversation by talking about the RV they were riding in. He was so happy because there were other bands on Warped that were in vans.

After some walking, we had made it where all of the band's buses were parked. In the middle of the buses was a small RV. "There she is" Tony announced. Tony lead the way onto the RV. Mike, Jaime and a few other guys that I didn't know were sitting in the front lounge.

Mike got up and hugged me and said: "I never knew you could run that fast, you should have joined the track team in high school." I punched his arm and didn't say anything about the comment. "Leave the girl alone dude. Annabel, Vic is in the back. you just have to go through that door." Jaime said while pointing at the door. Before opening it I turned around at told Alex, "Alex stay in the RV, and don't do anything mike tells you to do." The guys started to laugh as I opened the door.

I Sipped into the back of the RV, There were multiple beds and bunks arranged in there. Vic was sitting on a bed playing guitar. He looked up at me then Back down at the guitar. He then patted beside of him on the bed signaling me to sit down. Which I did. We sat in the silence for a while but it wasn't awkward because neither of us knew what to say.

Vic broke the silence,"Why did you come to see us?"
"I hadn't planned on come at all today, Last week Alex that kid Asked me to go with him. He was going to come with his best friends but he was killed when they were in a car accident a little over a month ago. He loves you guys and today was suppose to be his day."
"Oh," Vic said, he almost sounded disappointed.
"Yea"
"So I'm guessing you saw our set today."
"Yea it was weird seeing you guys up there doing your thing. In high school, I would have never thought you would be doing all of this."
"Yea As crazy as it is dreams come true."
"Yea"
"So I'm going to address the elephant in the room, I usually don't get personal on stage."
"Vic you don't have to explain yourself, It's not like you are going to ask me to marry you right now."
"NO, I'm not but I still love you Anna, the first time you left I knew that I would never find anyone that would make me feel the way that you do. I haven't been able to have a serious relationship because I only want you. I can't imagine myself with anyone else"
"Vic I can't. you don't even know. I can't get close to anyone, when I think of my future I know I'm going to be alone. You really fucked me up."

Vic got up from the bed and put his head in his hands, then started pacing the length of the back of the RV. While shaking his head he mumbled out,"I'm Sorry, I was just a stupid kid, I've changed."

I stood up "Vic I need to leave this is only going to hurt the both of us the long we play this game. I started to leave when Vic grabbed my arm "No Anna please don't leave, We can go back and try everything again, Forget the past."

"Vic I have a whole new life In Seattle, there's no going back and forgetting the past. The past is why there's a new me. Now will you let me go?" Vic released his grip I went into the lounge and said my goodbyes to the other guys. All of them hugged me this time.

As I was taking the first step to Leave the RV a hand grabbed my arm. I turn to see it was Vic."Anna I can't let you go, not this time. I've let you leave my life without trying to do something about it, but not this time. I need you in my life, We don't have to date or fuck. I need you as a friend. That's what I miss most about high school, always having you there."

I was dumbfounded, this wasn't the Vic I knew in high school, This Vic was vulnerable. After all, we had been through I really wanted to be his friend. But what would that bring?
