We'll Start A New Revolution

It's Been Too Long Since I've Heard You Sing

Justin came and picked me up from my house at four on the dot. I clambered into the seat and put my seatbelt on.

'Thanks for this,' Justin said gratefully, pulling out and onto the road.

'It's no problem; the girls are working and a problem has come up with PTV. Something to do with touring, I'm not really sure,' I answered, 'at least it takes up some more time until I have to go to work.'

'Are you doing night shifts now?' Justin asked, surprised. I shook my head.

'Only tonight since it's a busy time of year. You know, with Christmas in a few weeks and that.' Justin nodded thoughtfully.

'Are you going to be busy?' He asked, stopping at a red light. He looked over at me and started tapping his fingers on the wheel.

'On Christmas? Probably not. We might have a big Christmas dinner with the Fuentes' but that's about it.' Justin once again nodded before the light changed to green and he slammed his foot on the accelerator, sending me flying into the back of my seat.

We reached the venue they were holding the auditions at - a small cafe that I knew Ginger frequented. When we entered, there was a small huddle of fans on a table, who screamed when they saw us. A waitress looked over at them, then at us, before shooing them out of the cafe. Justin walked up to a mic that they had setup in anticipation for the event.

The cafe was quite big, with a makeshift stage in the far left corner. Quite a few people were seated at the French-style tables. High-backed chairs with intricate patterns on the back were set around caramel coloured wood tables, white tablecloths covering the surface and menus propped up. A few had fallen over, and a waitress was wandering around aimlessly, picking them up and straightening the already wrinkle-free covers.

'Hi guys, so, I'm Justin Hills,' Justin started off, giving the crowd a wave, 'I'm bassist for Sleeping With Sirens and we are looking for a vocalist.' The rest of the band piled onstage then, having just turned up.

'Move over,' Jesse said, taking the mic off Justin. Justin rolled his eyes and walked to the side of the stage, crossing his arms and popping his hip out. I snorted at his stupid gesture before turning back to Jesse. 'I'm Jesse Lawson, guitarist,' the red head said, with Gabe pitching in with,

'Rhythm.'

'That's Gabe Barham, the drummer, who should get out of guitarist affairs,' Jesse said without skipping a beat. 'And last but not least, Jack Fowler, also a guitarist.' Gabe once again threw his two cents in, leaning over to the mic and saying,

'Lead. Jess is just jealous because he's not lead.' Throughout the room, the ice broke as nearly everyone laughed at Gabe's words.

'Anyway, let's start,' Jesse looked at a list he was holding in his hand, 'we've got Nick Trombino up first?'

Two hours later and almost everyone in the room had been up and sung. The band had turned down basically everyone. The door rang while someone was doing a terrible rendition of "All The Small Things", Ginger walking in and coming straight over to me.

'Well,' she started, sitting next to me, 'this sounds like fun.' She smirked at me and I gave her a side hug, chuckling at the pun.

'Yeah, it's been awesome.' Justin turned around in his seat and poked his tongue out at me. Ginger laughed, and called the waitress over, ordering a caramel milkshake. She watched the last few people sing, and then turned back to me.

'Have they all been like this?' I nodded solemnly. Ginger shuddered.

'How long have you been here?'

'About two and a half hours, now.'

'Wow,' Ginger reached out and patted my arm, 'I feel so sorry for you.' I sighed,

'Yeah, I do too. Especially for my ears.'

Justin walked back up to the mic.

'Do we have any more takers?' He tried sounding cheerful and upbeat, but his voice fell flat and you could tell he was tired.

Ginger turned to me, her head whipping around her hair looked like a fireball.

'Go!' She said, pushing me out of the seat. I fell to the floor, landing with a thud and causing everyone to turn to me.

'What now, Kells?' Justin asked.

'Uhhh...'

'He's going to audition!' Ginger shouted happily, bouncing in her seat.

'Okay then. Here you go.' Justin sounded puzzled, then put the mic back in the stand and walked off.

'Sing "Walk On Water Or Drown".' Ginger whispered as I got to my feet and walked to the front. I went up and stood behind the mic, the position feeling natural. I grabbed the mic and took a deep breath, closing my eyes. I exhaled and started singing, my voice coating the audience.

'Well, this hurts me more than I can stand to say,
In just one sitting,
You left the room so I could pray,
So I'll pace the halls to see if I could find a hole in something,
Or maybe places to escape,'

I heard Ginger cheer over the mutters that were flying around the room; the comments at the front sounded quite negative.

'Oh, and everybody knows this is the part,

Of breaking down in anybody's arms,
I'm reaching down and hoping this one's ours,

God, please let this stay,
And then I fell into pieces,
And she fell into me,
Saying, play me a song,
It's been too long since I've heard,
You sing.' I got into the song, swaying to the imaginary beat in my head. Most people here knew the song and were getting into a groove too.

'And you got here just in time,
To let me know I was worth saving,
If nothing more than for the heart,
Too proud to breathe,
But all too scared to say,
The things worth saying,
Who knew this trip would be this hard?

As I'm looking to the sky to count the stars,
I wonder if you see them where you are,
I'm down on both my knees,
To pray tomorrow brings no pain,

And then I fell into pieces,
And she fell into me,
Saying play me a song it's been too long,
Since I've heard you sing,

And yeah we all fall to pieces,
But at least you fell to me,
But this is the wrong night,
Tell me goodnight and let it go,

I stayed here,
And you just prayed,
My head would clear,
And I'd stay safe,

And the pieces left that love has changed just saved everything.

Oh, and everybody knows this is the part,
Of breaking down in anybody's arms,
I'm reaching down and hoping this one's ours.

God, please let this stay,
And then I fell into pieces,
And she fell into me,
Saying, play me a song,
It's been too long since I've heard,
You sing

And then I fell into pieces,
And she fell into me,
Saying play me a song it's been too long,
Since I've heard you sing.

And yeah we all fall to pieces,
But at least you fell to me,
But this is the wrong night,
Tell me goodnight and let it go, oh.' I finished the song and applause thundered around the room.

'Ladies and gentlemen!' Justin yelled, appearing on stage, 'meet our new vocalist, Kellin...' He paused and looked at me for confirmation. Was I going by Quinn again, or my new last name of Fuentes? I shrugged.

'Quinn, just so nobody becomes confused.'

'Quinn!' Ginger raced to the front of the room, throwing her arms around me and landing a kiss on my cheek.

'Well done!'

'Ginge, get off me.' I said as she started choking me. 'Thanks.' We returned to the table and everyone left, apart from the people who had ordered food. Justin came over and informed me that he would contact me with band details, and then went out the door - he had his own affairs to attend to. Ginger said she would take me home after celebratory drinks.

What a fun night I have ahead of me.

Ah yeah. I've got fics up and running on my mibba and wattpad. Not any PTV related though. Though I do have a Perrentes coming out in about a month or so. Maybe more. Keep a look out for December? I don't know yet. I'm participating in NaNoWriMo so I may not have time.

Oh no, Vic told him the "fictional" story, but Kellin was already dying. He died as the words "what if I told you...' passed Vic's lips. He wasn't listening to Vic. He was thinking of Vic, thus the muttering under his breath. That was him saying Vic's name.

And Mike knew. About Josh.
