We'll Start A New Revolution

I'm Breathing In The Chemicals

A Few Days Later

Now that the situation with Kyle had died down, Justin, Gabe, Jesse and Jack were thinking of going back on the road - they had booked several large tours and hadn't expected this to come up. They were very lucky that Kyle's fall had been on the last night of tour.

Jesse was sitting across from Vic and I at the table, sipping coffee.

'Do you know of anyone who could sing for us?' Jesse asked, looking dejectedly at us.

'Sorry,' Vic started, 'all singers that I know are in bands.' I shrugged as Vic finished speaking.

'Sorry, bud. But I'll be happy to come and watch you guys trial the newbies.' I smiled encouragingly, placing my hand over Jesse's and rubbing lightly.

'Thanks, Kell. The trials are going to be tomorrow. I'll pick you up at about four.'

'I'll be ready then. I think Vic's got band

practice or song writing or something.' Vic made an agreeable noise, signaling that my assumptions were correct. He finished his gulp of coffee, placing the empty mug on the table in front of him.

'Speaking of, I have to go and do some more writing now. We're recording the new album in about a month, and I want ideas.' Vic walked off to our "music room", putting his cup in the sink.

'I better go then,' Jesse said, taking his own cup to the sink and placing it next to Vic's, 'see you tomorrow, Kells.'

'Jesse, do you mind driving me to the university? My lecture starts in about an hour,' I asked, not particularly wanting to take the bus there and back. My car was being serviced, and Vic's wasn't registered yet - we had both forgotten to renew it thanks to Vic's endless touring and our honeymoon. We had sent the email today, and were waiting for the brightly coloured sticker to arrive in the mail. 'If you don't mind, of course.'

Jesse beckoned me to the front door, his keys making a racket as they bounced on their ring. I grabbed my jacket and my folder, shouting goodbye at Vic over the faint strains of the guitar that had started up, and locked up the house, knowing far too well how much you could get caught up in song writing. It was better to be safe than sorry.

'So, how's the course going?' Jesse asked as I got into the passenger seat, revving up the engine and pulling onto the road. I buckled myself in.

'It's going well,' I started, 'the homework load is light, and whenever I can't make it to the physical class because of work or something, I can catch up online.' I was studying accounting, it was something that had piqued my interest in school but had never had the chance. I could imagine it now; sitting in a bank in a few years' time, wearing a snazzy suit and tie combination, having my lunch break with my colleagues - I pictured a short Asian woman as one of them - and finally returning home to Vic, and our few year's old daughter, her running to meet me at the front door and Vic having messed up dinner so we order pizza and sit on the couch and watch Tom and Jerry with her.

'Kellin?' Jesse pulls me out of my trance.

'Huh?'

'I said, we're here. See you tomorrow.' I say goodbye and head into the university, walking into my lecture and sitting near the front. I open my notebook up to the next fresh page, clicking my pen as everyone else files in. I reread over my last notes as I realise that it's going to be another few minutes until the lecture starts, my messy writing becoming blurred in my vision. The lecture flew by, filling up another few pages in my book. I handed in homework that was due at the end of class - my lecturer had been very watchful to make sure none of us were writing it in class - and I was waiting at the bus stop by six. The bus came at quarter past, and I arrived home at seven. I walked in the door and saw a familiar blond head sitting on the couch, laughing loudly. I closed the door quietly and snuck up behind her, placing my hands over her blue eyes.

'Guess who?' I tried to alter my voice, making it what I considered as deep. The girl laughed in return, saying,

'Kellin, that was pathetic. My voice can go lower than yours,' she turned around and kissed my cheek, 'I haven't seen you in ages.'

'Hey Evie. When did you turn up?' I asked as Vic walked out from the kitchen area, juggling three Noodleland boxes.

'About five minutes ago with dinner,' Vic replied for her, kissing my other cheek and offering me a box, 'except for the fact that it was cold.' He looked pointedly at Evie and she shrugged, smiling and taking her own dinner.

'It takes a long time to get to here from Noodleland.'

'It's five minutes.'

'Fine, I was talking to someone.' I raised an eyebrow at Evie, sitting down in the armchair to the side.

'Who?' I asked, smiling sneakily at her. She shrugged.

'Don't know, but I got her number.' Evie grinned, biting her tongue between her teeth as she opened the box and inhaled deeply.

'Good girl.' Vic said, flicking on the TV and playing the movie that was in the DVD player. It was How To Lose A Guy In Ten Days. Evie shook her head.

'Is this really appropriate?' She joked, placing her noodle box on the table and walking into the kitchen. 'You forgot the forks, dummy.' She said to Vic, handing them out. She sat back down and began picking at her chicken, making sure to get sauce all over it before putting it in her mouth.

The movie had finished and Evie had left a few minutes ago. I walked into the bedroom and slumped on the bed and wriggled under the covers. Vic wandered in a few minutes later, stripping to his boxers and jumping in, wrapping his arms around me.

'Why do you have your jeans on?' He asked, snuggling into the crook of my neck. I mumbled incoherently under me breath, repeating myself as Vic made a noise in the back of his throat to signal that he hadn't heard me.

'I said, I don't know,' I quickly came up with something plausible, adding to it in a playful tone, 'want to help me take them off?' I turned over and rested on top of him, using my arms to hold my weight. I did a push up - a bit unstable on the soft bed - and kissed him, struggling to hold myself up as he moved under me, causing the mattress to respond by moving up and down in different places. His hands crept under my shirt and he bit down lightly on my bottom lip. I completed the push up, smiling and biting my lip.

'I'll take that as a yes.'

Oh no, Vic told him the "fictional" story, but Kellin was already dying. He died as the words "what if I told you...' passed Vic's lips. He wasn't listening to Vic. He was thinking of Vic, thus the muttering under his breath. That was him saying Vic's name.

And Mike knew. About Josh.
