No Idea

Everyone stood quiet, they looked between each other and smiled. Jaime stood up and took a step backwards. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a little blue box. As he opened it, the light in the room hit something shiny.

‘No Stel, will you marry me?’ He said as he moved to one knee. I looked to the box and smiled.
‘Yes, I will marry you.’ I said as I put my hand out towards him. He jumped up and moved to me, kissing me when we reached me. It was a soft kiss, like he was afraid I was going to break beneath him. He placed the ring on my finger before kissing me once more.

‘You know Stella, I was going to propose twice, and each time something terrible was going to happen. The night of the crash, I was planning on proposing to you. Everyone was there, we were going to have a couple drinks, celebrate, but no, one stupid person had to drive home drunk and hurt my beautiful girlfriend. Then tonight, I was going to propose tonight, and well this happened.’ Jaime said, holding my hand.

‘I want to be married on Friday. Two days from now. I don’t want to wait any longer.’ I said. I gripped onto Jaimes hand tighter and he nodded his head.

Over the next day, I was released from hospital and straight from there, Sarah and I went to find a wedding dress. We drove around the whole town and couldn’t find one. When we got home, Sarah raced upstairs while I went and sat on the couch.

I was feeling pain and a lot of it. I had my head in my hands as I was bent over resting arms on my knees. I was breathing a bit too heavily than normal and I just couldn’t get a gasp on it.
‘Oh hey babe.’ Jaime said as he walked into the room. I shot up from my stance and turn to him. He smiled as he walked around the couch and sat next to me.

He looked at me with a smirk of a smile and I could see his eyes looking tired and sad but he still smiled. Tomorrow I was going to marry this man and have him as my husband. I smiled to the thought as he took my hand into his. His hand was cold and it took my hand to warm it up a little.

‘Stella! I have your wedding dress!’ Sarah yelled as she ran down the stairs, dress in hand. She reached the living room and stopped. She pulled the dress in front of her and She smiled as her head peep out from the side.

I stood up, letting go of Jaime’s hand and pulled on the fabric as I examined the dress. ‘I can’t have your dress Sarah. It is yours.’ I said as I let go of it.

‘Please Stel. It is the lest I can do for everything you have done for me. Please, just take it.’ Sarah said as she guided me to the mirror that was in the cupboard downstairs.

‘Are you sure?’ I asked, looking at myself in the mirror, admiring the dress that was held in front of me.

‘Yes! Now, come on. Lets try it on and see what it looks like.’ Sarah said as she pulled me up the stairs. I couldn’t walk this fast, I become very dizzy and nearly feel. I pulled it off and noticed that no one saw me.

Once upstairs and in my room, Sarah helped me put the dress on. It was a little loose but other than that, it fitted like a charm. Sarah looked at me in an admiring way.

‘You are beautiful.’ She said.

‘I wish you would wear this first. You would look more gorgeous then I could ever be. You and Vic should be married. And I won’t get to see it.’ I said, feeling the tears fall.

‘You will Stella, you will get to see every inch of it.’ Sarah said as she took me into a hug.

‘I need to take this off. I want this to feel special tomorrow.’ I said as I let Sarah go. She nodded and I got undressed then re-dressed before returning to the room downstairs.

‘Vic, honey. I think we should go out for dinner, let Jaime and Stella have a night to themselves. We can take Ruby with us and we can stay at a hotel for the night.’ Sarah said when she returned downstairs.

‘That sounds like a perfect idea baby.’ Vic said.

‘Oh Stel, it is time to pick Ruby up from school. Shall we go?’ Jaime asked as he got up from the couch. I nodded my head and followed him as we walked to the car.

It was a quiet drive to pick Ruby up but when we got to the school, we were chatting up a storm about little things. Ruby was playing with some lego when we entered the classroom. She was oblivious to her surroundings, placing block onto block.

‘Ruby.’ I said as I bent down to her level behind her. She turned around with a big smile and jumped into my arms with a massive scream. I was pushed off balance and feel to the floor where I stayed for a little while.

‘Well, we better get going darlings.’ Jaime said as he played with his keys. Ruby got up and ran and retrieved her bag. I, on the other hand, needed Jaime to help me up from the ground.

I was stood up and feeling very dizzy, my vision becoming blurry but hiding every inch of this. Jaime walked in front of Ruby and I as Ruby was telling me all about her day. Her little hand was in mine and it was just a moment I want her to remember forever.

We got home and Ruby went and got changed and packed a bag for tonight. I walked into the kitchen and noticed that Sarah had put a leg of pork into the oven. I smiled as I turned around and saw Jaime admiring me from the other side of the room.

‘Don’t just stare at me, come here.’ I said.

Jaime walked over with a flirty walk, which made me laugh a lot. He stood in front of me and placed his hands on my hips, pulling me closer to the point of our chests touching. He didn’t hesitate about anything; his lips were on mine in an instant.

I loved every second of the embrace as our tongues moved together. I heard a loud mummy which made Jaime and I pull away from each other. Jaime turned his head, hands still on my hips and we both watched as Ruby ran into the kitchen with a bag.

‘I am ready to go! I am so excited to have dinner with Aunty Sarah and Uncle Vic.’ She said as she put her bag on her back. Her high pitched voice made everyone smile.

Vic and Sarah walked into the kitchen and smiled as they stood behind Ruby.

‘You have the entire night to yourselves. Enjoy it.’ Sarah said as she walked up to me and hugged me tightly. This was a daily thing now, not know when or what.

‘I love you’ I whispered to her.

‘I love you too.’ She replied quietly.

Vic came over to me next, giving me one of his special hugs where they just made you feel like 100 bucks.

‘I love you Vic.’ I said as I kissed his cheek. ‘You look after my sister for me.’

‘I love you too Stel. I won’t need to but I will.’ Vic replied as he hugged me a little tighter before letting go.

The last person I said goodbye to was my gorgeous daughter. She stood in front of me, looking up to me with her little smile.

‘I love you mummy. I will see you tomorrow.’ She said as she hugged my legs. I moved her back before bending down to give her a proper hug and a kiss on the cheek.

‘Goodbye mummy.’ She said before they all left the kitchen. I watched as they walked out the room before I looked to Jaime and smiled.

He smiled and hugged me tightly. We stood there for ages, just in each others arms before we decided that we should get dinner ready.

We ate at the dinner table in a candle lit room, with soft music playing in the background while we sipped on a glass of wine for Jaime and a cup of water for me.

Jaime had asked me to dance to one of the songs on the playlist and we did. It was sweet but it just reminded me of a special time. I stopped and looked at Jaime with a grin on my face before I walked over to the CD stack. I grabbed a broken up CD case before I placed the CD in the player.

I looked to Jaime who smiled to me and came over. He rested his hands on my hips and my arms placed over his neck as we slowly swayed side to side to Jaime’s song.

‘I can’t believe you still have this after everything.’ He said, looking down to me.

‘Of course I do silly, I loved that you wrote me a song. It is one of the best gifts I have every received.’ I admitted.

‘Well, you deserve everything in the world and I will give it to you Stel. I will give you everything in the world.’

‘I can’t wait to marry you! I love you so much.’ I said to Jaime before I reached to his lips and kissed him with such a force that I just wanted to remember the feel of his lips forever.

‘I love you too Stel. So bloody much.’ Jaime said, pulling away.

The rest of the night, we danced, kissed and before we knew it, we were in bed ready to sleep. I looked over to Jaime and smiled as he smiled to me and blow me a kiss. He lied down in the bed and pulled my close, hugging my as we both drifted off to sleep. Tomorrow being the day of all days, my wedding day!
