No Idea

I stood stunned, what was I meant to say? Was I meant to just let him into my life again? I blinked at him, his eyes still looking at me, I felt Hannah and dad starring too.

‘Stella, I want to help you with the baby. I know she isn’t mine but I will treat her as if she is. I know this is a huge step but screw it, I love you.’ He stated.

‘Jaime, I don’t know. I mean, I love you too but will it be worth in the long run. What if it gets too hard for you to stay around? What if you find someone else?’ I fought.

‘That is not going to happen. I love you Stel. I will always love you. Things just got a bit rough for me when we broke up. I never thought I was going to see you again. Then, fate brought you back home. Not for me, but for your baby and I was waiting for you.’ He said.

‘If I say yes, I want to take it real slow.’ I said.

‘Agreed.’

‘Then yes.’ I replied. Jaime put his arms around my arms and hugged my tight.

*Back to present*

‘I thought we didn’t date until you saw me one day with Ruby?’ I questioned, looking to Jaime.
‘I mean, I didn’t mean to scare you, saying we were dating and all that.’ He stated.

‘We were trying to protect you Stel. We love you so much.’ Mum said. She grabbed my hand and smiled to me.

‘I honestly love you all too.’ I said, there was a silence before our eyes were drawn to the door. The doctor walked in and smiled to me.

‘Excuse me everyone. I have some exciting news. With how well Stella has been recovering, we are glad to inform you all that tomorrow, she can go home. But I advise that someone is with her always just in case something is to happen.’ He announced.

Everyone in the room, cheered and everyone talked amongst themselves while one by one they all came up to me and kissed my cheeks. I smiled and thanked everyone as they did.

‘There is one thing though, Stella, because you have been in a bed for a long time and we did all we could to your legs to keep the blood flowing, it may take a little while to actually walk around like normal again.’ Doctor said.

‘That’s okay doctor. Thank you so much for everything you have done for me. You have looked at me so well and I am so grateful.’ I said.

‘No problem Stella. This is why I am here. I’m sorry everyone but visiting times are up. Stella will be out tomorrow. So thank you. Stella is lucky to have you all.’ The doctor said before he left the room.

Everyone said their goodbyes and made their way out of the room. Jaime stayed around a little longer though. Just general chit chat. I don’t think he was ready to leave me yet, and I didn’t want him to leave.

It sounds ridiculous but I can feel the connection we have. i feel how happy I am when he is around, he is treating my baby girl so well and I am forever grateful. He did say that he was going to do that and he lived up to that.

The next morning after I woke up, the nurse came in and took all the chords out of my arms and off my chest and helped me stand up for the first time in a while. My legs felt like jelly, they shook with just the weight of body, being too much for me still. I feel back onto the bed and sighed.

‘It will get easier Stella. I know it’s hard now but you’ll get through it. You are a strong lady.’ The nurse said as she wheeled over the wheel chair. She helped me into it before she wheeled me to the bathroom.

It was a little embarrassing that she had to help me change into my normal clothes that Jaime brought for me but I was excited to be covered up properly now.

After that, I was wheeled out into the waiting room where Jaime was waiting with Ruby and my mum. They smiled when they saw me coming towards them and Ruby started running to me. She stopped in front of the chair where I was stopped.

‘Hi Ruby.’ I said and smiled to her.

‘Hi mummy. I missed you.’ She said, slowly walking to me.

‘Mummy missed you too, so much.’ I said, putting my arms out and lifting her onto my lap. She sat facing Jaime as he walked over to me.

‘Hey Stel.’ Jaime said as he leaned down and kissed my cheek.

‘Hi.’ I said, blushing a little.

‘Okay, Jaime, I just need you to sign these here, seeing as you are going to be her full time carer until she is better. Make sure she takes 2 of these twice a day to ease any pain she may be experiencing.’ The nurse said, pointing to the lines that needed to be signed.

‘Done. Now you be careful Stella and we will see you in a week for a check-up.’ She said before walking away.

‘ready to go?’ Mum said as she stood behind my chair.

‘Yeah.’ I said. I held onto Ruby for dear life and kissed her little face.

‘Mummy loves you.’ I said so only she could hear me.

‘I love you too mummy.’ She replied, whispering as she turned around and looked at me.
