I Will Follow You

Hello friends, so I decided to do like a small explanation of the story to make things more clear. I guess it's a little confusing in a way. So I'll start off by saying EVERYTHING that happened in the story was a figment of he imagination. Nothing happened, except the last half of the last chapter where she came to terms with it all.

I'll start at the beginning, Scarlett's sister Ali died in a head on collision in New York City the night that Scarlett found Ali kissing her boyfriend. They had a huge argument and Ali drunkenly, got behind the wheel and crashed. Scarlett was stricken with regret and guilt so her mental state; which was already pretty grim, plummeted.

She then created a whole world where her happy family moved to San Diego and she met Vic, whom was horrible to her to begin with. This reflects her ex-boyfriend. He was the opposite of Vic but in the end still betrayed her by being with Ali. As time went on, Scarlett began to have mental breakdowns; aspects of her real life began to bleed through. Her little sister begging for Scarlett to chat to Ali was a cry for help, that she wasn't dealing with it.

As time went on she won Vic over and then lost her mind. Her suicide attempt was a brief moment of trying to end the fantasy from her parents end. And it didn't work. As a last ditch effort, her parents took her to the psychiatrist Dr Laurence. He pulled her out of the fantasy for 3 months (which ended up being 5 years in her world) and she fell back into it after her parents got divorced.

Aria was a metaphor for everything she lost in her life; her parents and the heart ache of their split, her sisters death and the hurt from her boyfriends actions.

Her crazy therapist was her way of trying to convince herself that Dr Laurence was trying to take her away from her amazing life, that he was evil. In actual fact he was trying to help her. So she created the monster, Dr Philips to mask that and keep her mind straight.

Again her comma was another month where she spent her time getting better, healing over time. Vic's constant betrayal reflected everyone whom she loved in her life and how she felt they were letting her down.

So by the end of the story she came to a happy point, she made herself into the happiest scenario that she could muster up. Dr Laurence knew it was time to crush the dream and bring her back to reality.

The biggest and most confusing way for the readers is that she meets a guy called Vic Fuentes the minute she left the facility. The point of that is that she will never really leave the fantasy, and she was always destined to live in that world. She would always meet "Vic" and would always end up in that life. It's the way her brain made her see the world. And it's kinda sad in a way but it mirrors the way a lot of people see things nowadays. I covered a lot of big issues in this story and I hope that on some level you guys understand why. It's pretty insane how our minds work.
