Here We Go Again
Beep Beep Beep
Sigh. Here we go again. I got up and took a shower before getting dressed and grabbing my bag.
My first few classes went surprisingly well, the teacher never called on me, nobody tried to talk to me, and the work was really easy. Well it was going good until I got to my English class.
“Alright class, I’m assigning a group project, and I have assigned all of the groups.” Everyone made a sound of disapproval.
Fuck. I quickly raised my hand. “And no you can’t work alone, this project should give you time to talk to and get to know the other people in your class” She said looking at me. I let out a frustrated sigh and put my hand back down.
Does she not realize that I’m mute, and don’t talk, because I’m pretty damn sure that all my teachers got a notice saying that I was mute.Well this is bullshit. I sat and waited for my name to be called.
“Milla you are with Jaime, Tony, and Mike. Please don’t make me regret that decision boys, and be nice to Milla.” She sighed.
“Yo Milla come over here.” said, who I think was Jaime. Whoever he was he had really weird hair, what's the point of the blond streak? I quickly gathered my things and sat in the empty chair next to Jaime.
I remember seeing them yesterday in the music room, and in some of my other classes, they always had a few girls hanging all over them and it was quite appalling to say the least. They seem kind of stuck up, I really hope they aren’t or it's going to make working with them so much harder than it already is.
“Hi, I’m Jaime, that’s Mike and Tony. Tony’s shy so don’t be offended if he doesn’t talk to you.” He said as he pointed to the others. I smiled and gave them a small wave before turning my attention back to the teacher, who was now passing out the instructions for the project. Once she was finished I turned back to my group.
“So Milla, why are you mute?” asked Jaime causing Mike to punch him in the arm.
“Ow what was that for?”
“You just don’t ask someone why they’re mute, you idiot.” I laughed at the boys antics, but quickly threw a hand over my mouth. I hated my laugh, it’s so ugh.
“AWHH that was adorable. Someone make her laugh again.” Jaime gushed. I rolled my eyes at him and flipped him off causing Tony and Mike to laugh. Hmm maybe these boys weren’t as bad as I thought.
Since the teacher took so long explaining the assignment, we didn’t really have anytime to discuss what parts each of us was going to do, and as the bell rang I put my stuff in my bag and stood up.
“Hey Milla, you wanna sit with us at lunch?” Mike asked.
Hmm should I? Ehhh, why not? It’s better than sitting alone.
I nodded and followed the boys to the cafeteria. To my surprise nobody really paid attention to me. Sure, some girls threw slight glares my way, but it really didn’t bother me. I was just glad to have some friends.
We made our way to a table near the back and as we sat down another guy joined us.
“Milla this is my older brother Vic, Vic this is Milla, the rest of us are in a group project with her.”
Wait…..Vic is older….hmmm he’s so short, and why is he in the same grade as us? He must have noticed my confusion and said “I started school late and Mike got the tall genes of the family.”
I made an ‘oh’ face and nodded.
The boys fell into conversation about a gig or something as I turned to my bag and got out the lunch I had packed, which consisted of fruit and a bottle of water, and also began listening to music
“So Milla.” Said Jaime. “How do you have a conversation with someone, if you’re mute?” I noticed that the other three boys rolled their eyes at Jaime’s question.
I got a piece of paper out and wrote ‘I use sign language or I write what I want to say down.’
“Oh, wait are you listening to music right now? How did you know what I said?”
‘I can lip read.’ I chuckled and slid the paper over to him.
“That’s so cool.” he smiled and the others agreed.
We soon fell into conversation about what kind of music we liked and so on, Tony occasionally adding to the conversation, but most of the time he was quiet. He must be really shy.
The day continued on, and I realized that I had at least one if not all of them in every class. They always came and sat by me and to say the least, I had a blast in those classes.
The day soon came to an end as I found myself walking out the door with the four boys.
“So Milla…..” Tony said standing next to me. “The guys and I were wondering, since tomorrow is Saturday and we don’t have school, if you wanted to come over tomorrow and work on the project.” He said with a slight blush appearing on his cheeks.
I smiled and nodded. I’d rather get a head start on the project now, than wait till the last minute, and this could be chance for us to get to know each other better.
“Alright cool, uhm here’s our number’s even tho Vic isn’t in our group, and uhmm, yeah.” I took the paper and tore of a piece before writing my number down and handing it back.
“I’ll text you the address later.” He smiled before hopping into the back seat of Vic’s car and leaving.
I wonder if I’m going to regret becoming friends with these guys? Well only time will tell.
I put in my head phones before beginning the long walk home.
