You'd Better Hide the Bullets

My mom decided to throw a Christmas party, inviting all her new friends from work. My father did the same and they asked us to invite a few friends of ours. So I invited the guys, Amber and Alex. Of course Ali asked Vic to come, great. Kiera invited a kid from her math class that she has befriended. It's nice to see her with a friend.

My mom made the three of us wear a knitted dress with long sleeves that our grandmother made us and sent at the beginning of the month. We all tried to avoid it but mom wouldn't let us. It was long a really long Christmas sweater. Mines has reindeers all over it.

The adults basically claimed the living room, talking about work and drinking Chardonnay's. If I'm lucky, I might just be able to steal one of my dads beers.

I walked into the kitchen to see Ali and Vic cuddling up in the corner. I made a fake vomiting sound at the sight. "Oh grow up Scarlett." Ali rolled her eyes at me. I just flipped her off and went into they fridge and grabbed one of my dads beers. I guess it was easier than I thought! "I'm telling on you." Ali squinted her eyes.

"Now who needs to grow up." I laughed at her. She just rolled her eyes again and then attacked Vic's face with her lips.

Mike came strolling into the kitchen and made a noise similar to mines. "Ew." He coughed.

I opened the beer and nodded to the fridge for Mike to get one. "So Mike, how do you like the Jones' Christmas party so far." I asked as I took as sip. I climbed up onto the counter as far away from Vic and Ali as I possibly could.

"Your parents are super nice but adult parties are always kinda boring." Mike laughed as he opened the beer in his hand.

"You do remember my brother is 16." Vic butted in.

"And like that stopped you from handing him whisky and beers any chance you get." I looked round to Vic. His grin dropped and Mike made an 'ooing' sound.

"Whatever." He rolled his eyes. Ali just nuzzled into his neck more and I gave him a bored look.

Alex walked in and came over to me. "Please don't leave me with you dad again, he keeps talking to me about how you're his little princess and that I better not hurt you, it's fucking scary." Alex laughed, I handed him my beer and he took a quick drink of it.

"My dad likes you." I grinned at him and kissed his forehead. I couldn't help but look towards Vic to see if he was watching, which he was.

"Yeah but he is a scary guy." Alex said with a hint of fear in his voice.

"Larry is cool, maybe you just need to get to know him." Vic spoke up. We all looked towards him and I raised an eyebrow.

"I guess, maybe I should hang around here more then." Alex suggested looking up at me.

"You're welcome here any day of the week." I said kissing his lips quickly.

Ali began making vomiting sounds and I looked at her. She just smiled innocently and Vic wrapped his arm around her shoulder. Pete, Patrick, Amber and Lewis came flooding into the kitchen. "Okay guys this party blows, why did you invite us?" Patrick sighed loudly.

"Because you're all my friends, expect you two." I pointed towards Ali and Vic. "So you all have to endure this Hell with me. Plus i have to wear this fucking sweater dress." I pointed to the hideous clothing.

"She's right Patrick, we would have missed the awful attire if we never came." Pete said tapping Patrick on the chest.

"Well, what are we going to do?" I asked everyone.

"Slowly get drunk without your parents knowing?" Lewis suggested. I couldn't help but laugh at the suggestion. One of my cousins was 21, we could pay her to get us booze and then get drunk in my room.

"Why don't we ask my cousin Maria to get us booze, she's 21 plus our parents will be too drunk to know any better by the time we have it. All just chip in like ten bucks?" I suggested to the guys. Everyone seemed up for it, even Ali wanted to get involved.

So I got Maria to go to the liquor store for us, we gave her $130 dollars for booze, she got to keep whatever change there was for buying under age teens booze. But she came through for us. My other cousin Alysha decided to join us. We got some beer, whisky and vodka. Thankfully my parents didn't notice us sneak the booze upstairs.

We all ran up the stairs and into my room, strangely Vic and Ali were joining in without being assholes. I walked over to my speakers and began playing some music. The My Chemical Romance version of All I Want For Christmas came on. Everyone began laughing and singing along as the alcohol got passed around. "This song is amazing." Pete laughed as he basically downed a beer.

"You guys are huge dorks, why the Hell did I agree to buy you booze." Maria rolled her eyes and drank straight from the whisky bottle.

"It's funny how the holidays bring everyone together." I pointed out, Alex kissed my cheek and wrapped his arm around my waist.

"No PDA." Pete groaned and put his hand over his eyes.

"Let's play never have I ever." Patrick suggested. A cheer of yes' roared through my room. We all got a bottle of beer each.

"Okay never have I ever skipped school to do something illegal." I said as I took a drink of my beer. Patrick, Ali, Alex, Alysha and Maria all took a drink too.

"Okay what?" I asked looking at Pete.

"Weed, it's illegal technically." Pete shrugged.

"Umm no it's not." Lewis laughed really loudly.

"Yes it is!" Pete shook his head.

"No, it's not illegal in the state of California anymore." I pointed out. Pete looked at me with confusion all over his face.

"Well then what's the point anymore?" Pete groaned. We all laughed at his reaction.

"Okay so never have I ever had sex with someone in this room." Patrick said taking a drink. Maria, Alysha, Mike and Pete all took a drink.

"You guys have had sex?!?" Patrick almost spat his drink out as he said it to me and Alex.

"Yeah, it's no big deal." I felt my cheeks beginning to turn red.

"You guys are so nosey." Alex laughed and took a swig of his drink.

"Okay never have I ever wanted to have sex with anyone in this room, other than person I've had sex with." Ali said and then she took a drink of her beer. Of course we were all gonna lie. Everyone took a drink, Vic looked at me and winked as he did so. I couldn't help but smile at it because he clearly had the same thought that I did.

"That one was a bust." Pete sighed.

We played the game until we were surely drunk out of our minds. It actually didn't take that long to get us drunk but it helped us get to know each other on a whole other level. I noticed that Mike was talking to Alysha a lot, it was kinda nice seeing him happy like that. She was perfect for him and I guess I did kinda hope they'd hit it off. "We need food, go and get food." Pete drunkenly pointed at me.

"Yeah Scarlett, go and get us some food." Alex groaned in my ear.

"Fine, I'll see if there are some chips in the cupboard." I grumbled as I got off my bed and stepped over the bodies around the floor. Vic got up too.

"I gotta pee so I'll help you get some stuff and pee on the way back." He told me. I just nodded and let him follow me.

Once out in the corridor we had to be kinda quiet. "Look my parents won't be too happy if they find out that we all snuck up stairs to get drunk, be as sober as you can please." I warned him. He just nodded and grinned at me drunkenly.

We creeped down stairs and past the living room. We got into the kitchen and raided the cupboards. "I found a huge bag of Doritos and some Lays." Vic held up.

"Bingo." I said enthusiastically as I slid over the tiles to him and grabbed the bags from his hands. "You're amazing." I said drunkenly to him. I quickly leaned up and kissed his lips gently and then pulled back as soon as I realised what I done. "Shit sorry, sorry I didn't mean that." I kept apologising.

I turned and walked out the kitchen and Vic followed me, we began to walk up the stairs and suddenly my mom called my name. "Scarlett, come here dear." I stopped and Vic ran into me, making us both slip back down the stairs. We lay at the bottom of the stairs tangled in each other's bodies with the bags of chips around us. We both began laughing hysterically. "Scarlett, Vic come here." She said to us. We both picked ourselves up and followed my mom.

We walked into the living room and it was evident my mom and pretty much every guest was drunk out of their minds. "Mom." I groaned, trying to act as sober as possible.

"Everyone meet my daughter Scarlett and her boyfriend Vic!" She announced. Oh God.

"Mom.. Wrong-" I began but she didn't hear me. "Daughter." I mumbled.

Vic stood beside me with no idea what to do or say. "You can go now." My mom looked at me and nodded towards the door. We both basically sprinted out the living room, picked up the chips and ran up the stairs. We got to the top and both collapsed in the hallway and began laughing again.

"Oh my God, my mom is so wasted." I laughed hysterically. Vic was laughing so much, it's amazing to see him so happy.

"She said I was your boyfriend." He giggled.

"I know what an idiot." I laughed out. He stopped laughing for a second and looked at me.

"It sounded kinda nice being called your boyfriend." He said looking into my eyes.

Suddenly my door opened and Pete stood with a really drunken grin on his face. "Did you two fall?" He asked, scratching his head.

"No." I said trying to pull myself up.

"Oh God you have Doritos!" Pete ran for the chips in my hand and grabbed them into his own hands.

Vic slipped passed me and into the bathroom. I walked back into my bedroom and everyone looked at me. "Moms drunk." I announced and everyone began laughing. It felt nice to not be completely alone, for once. San Diego is beginning to feel like it could be home.
