Palm Springs

Chapter 6

Lanta and Jersey helped me pack; I decided I was going to sleep on the plane since I ended up crying in the arms of Lanta last night. It was two in the morning when I got to the airport; my plane boarded in a half an hour and it took me that much time to go through security. I rushed to the gate and got on my plane; I decided to send Vic a quick message telling him I was on my way. Five hours and forty five minutes until I had to face Vic again.

Vic’s POV

Ashley went in a cab to go pick up from the Buffalo airport an hour ago; I was excited to see her and maybe a bit too excited. Ravyn kept telling me how she was curious why I was so excited to see her but I shrugged it off. America was my best friend and my new found feelings for her had to stop but I couldn’t help but feel warm inside. Eventually Ray went off with some friends and I waited anxiously by the bus, looking everywhere for any sign of them.

“You seem excited” Tony sang, as Jaime and him skipped over from the tent.

“I am”

“Finally recognized your feelings for her?” Jaime asked, and I shook my head quietly.

“Are you blushing?” Tony asked and gasped. “Oh my goodness, you like Amy?!”

“Shut up” I muttered and smiled a bit.

“You’re totally thinking about her naked right now” Jaime stated and Tony started laughing.

“I am not!” I protested.

“Wait, if you like Amy – then why are you still dating Ray?”

“Do you guys not like her?” I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.

“We do, she’s nice but we like Amy better” Jaime simply stated.

“She’s my best friend, she doesn’t like me back and I’d like to keep it to myself”

“Dude that only works until it’s literally eating you up and then you blurt it out” Jaime explained and I shook my head.

“I have too much to lose” I said, then my eye caught on a yellow taxi that pulled up a few buses down and I jumped around the corner when I saw her dressed in white shorts, a grey tank top that was longer in the back and shorter in the front and a leather jacket. She was helping Ashley pay for the taxi but I ran up and replacing their money with mine. “You don’t have to do that”

“Vic” America seemed to breathe out, in a sexy way that drove me a bit insane and I had to mentally slap myself, and then threw my arms around her. Everything surrounding me disappeared; the cars, the fans, the buses, Ashley, the noise and it felt like the air was gone. I looked into the frames of Amy’s glasses and smiled even bigger as the sun radiated off her green eyes and shimmered.

I shook myself out of it and grabbed over shoulder bag from the taxi driver, then threw my arms around Ashley and Amy.

“My two favourite girls”

“What about Ray?” Amy said, she smiled sweetly at me and I could sense a bit of sarcasm.

“She’s not here”

“Right, I’ll leave you too because I have to go find out some information about press and Amy; here’s you bus area pass, it gets you into the bus area, back stage and catering” Ashley said, handing it to Amy and giving her a quick hug before dashing off towards the press tent. Amy turned to me and smiled, waiting for me to say something.

“Let’s go to the bus and drop off your bag, then we can get some catering – I bet you’re hungry” I said and she nodded.

“It’s good to see you” She said, leaning into my side and I could almost feel her smiling.

“I missed you, I think I was tired of fighting with you” I explained and she nodded.

“I was being immature – but you have to understand I was trying to get your attention Vic”

“Why would you need my attention?” I asked, there was a long pause and by the time we got to the bus she turned to look at me. She opened her mouth to say something but stopped and it appeared as though she was fighting with herself. “Amy?”

“I listened to the record” She said, changing the subject but I decided to go with it and forget.

“You did?” I asked, and she nodded. I opened the door to the bus and let her go first, I trailed behind her and set her bag of the seat. “Do you like it?”

“I mean, I listened to all of the demos but I never expected it to make me cry” She stated and I laughed.

“Bulls in the Bronx?” I asked and she nodded. “Come on let’s go get food”

We exited the bus and Rayvn was standing right outside. She smiled at Amy and gave her a big hug.

“I’ve heard so much about you!” Ray shouted and Amy was shocked.

“You must be Ray”

“That’s me!” She shouted and I smiled.

“I’ve heard about you too, it’s good to see some light in Vic’s day job” Amy said, and Ray laughed.

“Well you two have fun” Ray said before jumping onto the bus not leaving before laying a kiss on my lip.

“She’s nice” Amy said and my heart sank a bit, she likes her? “I’m happy for you”

“Thanks, let’s go get some food”

America’s POV

It was hard to say I was happy for Vic, it was hard to look at Ray because she was so much more prettier than I was. She looked like a rocker princess, something right out of Vic’s comics he used to make in high school. She was short and thin, not tall and bulky like me and she had blonde hair – which was always Vic’s favourite. But I was happy for Vic, I’d rather him be happy than me.

I had said hello to a few inspiring legends I grew up listening to with Vic, like the members of the Used and Taking Back Sunday. I was having my own little freak out session and I felt like Vic had to feel this way as well. We even passed Alex Gaskarth and I had to hold back from wanted to scream. But we finally made it to catering and to be honest I was hungry, but after seeing how thin Ray was I kind of lost my appetite.

“You sit, what do you want?”

I glanced over the line, seeing fried chicken and lots of fatty foods I usually would crave over.

“Greek salad, extra feta with no dressing please” I told Vic and sat down under the tent. Vic came back shortly with our food but my plate had more food on it than I had bargained for.

“I saw you eyeing that chicken” Vic whispered and I laughed, nodding. “So this Eric”

“Yeah, he’s your typical L.A beach boy – wouldn’t doubt that skin cancer is in his future” I stated, coldly and picked at my salad.

“Still hasn’t called you back?” Vic asked, amused for some reason.

“Nope” I spat and pouted. “Vic, you of all people should know I take kisses extremely seriously and I thought Eric and I’s was, you know special but I guess not – I just wish people would quit running away after kissing me”

I took a little dig at Vic there, but it seemed to go right over his head and his eyes bulged out of his head.

“You kissed him?” Vic asked, loudly and people looked back to see what the commotion was.

“I mean yeah, we went for a walk on the beach I finally felt like someone liked me but nope, probably just another pair of lips to add to his collection, god Vic why is your species such douchebags” I exclaimed, he seemed to have sat back on the bench and spaced out. I snapped my fingers in front of his face and he came back into reality. “What’s up?”

“I just remembered that Ray and I were supposed to do something, I go to go” Vic said suddenly and got up.

“But Ray was fine with us hanging out” I stated and he stood, staring at me for a moment before dramatically looking away.

“I just have to go” He said before running away, I ran after him.

“Vic, you promised!”

I just watched him run through the sea of people and soon disappear. I started heading towards the bus and then ran into Mike.

“Amy! I missed you!” Mike shouted, hugging me and then looking at me in confusion. “Wait, where’s Vic?”

“I was at catering with him, we were talking about this guy I met and he just got up and told me he had to go see Ray”

“That makes no sense, he was so excited”

“Look Mike, I think I’m going to get a flight back to San Di-“

“No you’re not” Mike stated, he seemed angered by his brothers actions. “I want you to come see the show, Vic can stick it and do what he wants”

“Mike, is Vic like tired of me?” I asked, what he did hurt me. He ran away and left me like I was just some piece of shit that should be flushed down the drain.

“No babe, he’s just confused”

“What is he confused about?” I asked, curious.

“Let’s just say, he’s confused about your friendship – let’s go and get you some stuff from the merch tents”

What did that mean? Does that me he doesn’t want to be my friend anymore?

Notes
