A Friday Night Like This

I Swear That I Will Never Leave, Please Stay Forever With Me

I shot up like a rocket, clutching at the sheets. I could see Vic shaking his head, and taking a step back, getting ready to run on the back of my eyelids. The image was plastered against my retinas, and I was shaking. It was just a dream. Thank God.

I felt two warm limbs pressed against me. I looked down and saw Vic's tanned arms wrapped around me. I realised I wasn't shaking; Vic was rocking, shushing me, comforting me. I leaned back into his embrace.

'What's wrong? You were screaming.' He said, placing a kiss on my shoulder. I felt my heart slow to a more normal pace, and my breathing steadied.

'It - it was just a dream.' I said, trying to convince myself more than him. 'No - nothing to worry about.'

'Okay then.' He said, resting his chin on my shoulder. We stayed like that for a few minutes, lisening to each other's breathing and the occasional cars outside.

I broke the silence, asking a single question. 'What day is it?'

'Sunday, remember?' Vic said, laughing. I laughed along with him.

'That's right... What was so important about today?' I asked sheepishly. Besides my proposal. Vic laughed again. I could feel his body vibrating from his deep laugh.

'It's my last day before I go back on tour.' My heart sank at his words. Maybe now wasn't the time to pop the question. 'I was wondering if you wanted to record a song with me.' Vic said, shifting his position. I shifted mine too; we were now facing each other.

'Of course! But maybe we first ge dressed, eat breakfast...?' Vic laughed again, nodding.

'That may be a good idea.'

Vic went and took a shower while I made breakfast and coffee. While I waited for the kettle to boil, I got changed out of my pajamas and into my clothes; an Anthem shirt and plain skinny jeans. I quickly brushed my hair, styling it under a beanie and jammed a few years old fan made bracelets on my wrist.

I walked back out to the kitchen and poured the coffees, putting some bread in the toaster and waiting for it to pop. I sorted through the pantry looking for something half-decent to have on toast. I found a month old open honey container, which I promptly threw in the bin, strawberry jam and peanut butter. Vic came out in his favourite button down and shorts combination; his sky blue shirt with flower bouquets and tan shorts. He had on Vans, while I was still barefoot, and hadn't bothered to dry his hair. There were drops hitting his back, making darker marks. He took our toast out of the toaster and put them on plates, grabbing a knife and snaking his arm around me and grabbing the jam. He passed me my toast and coffee, while sipping at his own.

Afterwards, we walked into our music room and took up our positions from yesterday. My phone buzzed in my pocket and I looked at the text while Vic hunted for his lyric book and a pen.

Evie: Haven't heard from you for ages! What's your plan for the day?

I chuckled and shook my head. I had last seen her on Friday at work. One day wasn't that long.

Kellin: Not much... Just proposing to Vic :)

I got her reply in a matter of seconds.

Evie: We're going out for drinks tonight. You can't wrangle out of this one.

'Who are you texting?' Vic asked, settling himself back on the piano, a recording device and his guitar in his lap.

'Evie. We're going out for drinks tonight, apparently. That includes you.' I smiled up at Vic. 'Ready to record?' Vic smiled back and hit the record button. I played my part, which was the same from yesterday, then Vic stopped the tape. We listened over it and did another take just to make sure it sounded good. Vic then recorded his parts and we got onto the lyrics.

"I finally found him but I haven't got a piece of him yet,

I wanna tell you by the way I think I've ruined your body,

I had a dream last night we

All broke down.

Better think of something good to say,

So if you call me at all,

I won't tell you that you're ordinary,

I need somebody,

Somebody crazy enough to tell me,

I will love you till we are buried,

So can you feel my heart?" We figured out the first two verses and the chorus. We recorded them too, before continuing with the rest of the song.

- A few hours later -

'Thanks for helping me write this song,' Vic started as we sat around his laptop. We had just finished roughly piecing it together. 'It sounds amazing.'

'Want to jam it out?' I asked nudging him. He laughed.

'If I can remember the lyrics!'

I played the piano, my fingers gliding over the keys, while Vic plucked and strummed the guitar, the mellow music filling the house. When it had finished I stood up and pressed my lips to his. He had taken up sitting on the piano again. He placed both his hands on the side of my face and deepened the kiss.

'I love you.' He murmured.

'I love you too.' I whispered back. 'I'm going to miss you so much while you're on tour.'

'I'm going to miss you too.'

'While you're on tour, can you please carry a part of me around?'

'What, do you want to chop off a finger or something?' Vic asked, a light laugh escaping his lips.

'I'm being serious.' I said, nudging him.

'Vic, I love you more than words can describe. I want to announce to everyone how much of best friends, partners, lovers, we are. Through thick and thin, I can always rely on you. No matter how much I may dislike you, I never stop loving you.' I moved a hand back from around his waist and reached into my pocket.

'Will you please do me the honour of marrying me?' I presented him the ring. I felt his heart stop for a millisecond. He then crashed his lips to mine. We parted and I looked into his warm, chocolate eyes. They melted as they locked with my crystal blue ones.

'Yes.'

Thanks. I won't upload it right now because I've been writing the second chapter for about a week now and it's nowhere near finished!
@raven
Haha, just kill all the characters! If you want to read a story in which some characters may die, may I suggest my other story, Kiss Me Through the Window and it's sequel The Taste Of Touching Glass? *shameless advertising*
That is so adorable! I love it! This story was great and I loved the plot progression, like it didn't move to fast or slow. I'm excited for the sequel <3
