To Die Is To Awaken

I held the glass in my hands and stared deep into it. It was the only way I was going to sleep. I have been having such trouble. I always seem to be wired. But I know my body is struggling. It needs rest now. I tipped the glass back, drinking from it. I took large gulps before I drained the glass. I set it down onto my bed side table and lay back in bed, waiting for sleep to come.

I looked back and forth. I saw I was standing in a long corridor. I could not make out which was the right way to turn. One way would mean an exit. But the other would mean something even better. I decided on the right hand side and took slow, quiet steps. I came to a door that seemed to appear out of nowhere. I turned the doorknob and inhaled a deep breath. I could do this.
I opened the door and smiled at what I saw. The room was empty apart from the plush sofa in the centre of it. But sat on the sofa was Vic. He smiled brightly at me and held his hand out for me to join him.
"You came." he grinned.
"Of course I did." I laughed.
"I didn't think you would."
"Shall I go away?" I teased.
"No, come here." he urged.
I walked to him and sat down. Vic took my hand and I looked down at our entwined hands. Vic was gently and tenderly drawing little patterns onto the back of my hand with his thumb. I rested my head against his shoulder and sighed.
"I have something I want to show you." Vic suddenly said.
"What is it?" I asked.
"Come." he said. I stood up and Vic led me over to a window. I don't think it was there before. Or at least I never noticed it. I looked out of the window and to my amazement saw moving pictures. I leant out of the window to get a better look.
But then I fell. I started falling faster and faster. I did not know how far I had to go. Everything was white. I could not see anything else. Until eventually I hit the ground. I got to my feet and looked around me. Again I saw Vic. I hurried over to him and took his hand.
"We're going to get in trouble." Vic grinned.
I looked around and saw I was standing under a tree. There was grass on the floor before it melted into a path. Then not far was a school building.
"I don't care." I found myself saying.
"You won't get into college." Vic said in a sing song voice, teasing me.
"Who needs college when you're one of The Haunted?" I joked.
"But how will we pay the bills?" Vic jokingly gasped.
"Don't be silly. You're going to get into college and pay them for me."
"Really?" he raised his eyebrows. Vic sat down with his back against the tree. I sat down too and leant against his chest, his arms wrapping around me.
"Do you think we're going to live together one day?" I asked anxiously.
"I know we will." Vic replied firmly.
"How?"
"I just do. Everyone is going to leave you alone. Then you're going to come and move in the house that I'm paying for. We'll eat pancakes for breakfast so we can pretend we're still kids and watch dumb movies together and figure out how to do fun stuff without you getting all freaky. Then we'll go to bed together or sometimes we won't go to bed at all. We'll just lie outside all night and talk." Vic explained.
"Talk about what?" I asked.
"Talk about..... When we're picking our dog up from the rescue centre."
"We're getting a dog now?" I laughed.
"We have to. We'll call him Rover."
"Very original." I rolled my eyes.
"Fine, I'll settle for goldfish." Vic playfully groaned.
"What will we call our fish?" I giggled.
"Wayne and Garth!" Vic explained.
"That movie will be the death of me." I shook my head.
"I said we'll watch movies. I lied. Just Wayne's World over and over again."
"I'm not sure I want to marry you." I teased.
"You want to marry me?" he asked hopefully.
"I will marry you. When all of this rubbish is over and we have both graduated. I'm going to ask for Jaime's blessing."
"What about your parents?"
"We won't tell them, silly." I teased.
"I'll have to get Mike's blessing." he said easily. "He'll love it. He can be bridesmaid." Vic joked.
"Are you serious?" I asked.
"No, he can be best man or something."
"No, I mean do you want to marry me?"
"I want to spend my forever with you. I want someone to look at us and say they're together. It's not just some little school fling or puppy love. I want them to say - they're in love and staying that way." Vic explained.
"I want to be bound to you, Vic." I replied.
"I'm so in love with you." he told me gently. I sat up and turned around to face him. I wrapped my arms around his neck and leant in. My nose brushed his and I giggled.
"I love you more than anything. You're my perfect thing in a world full on monsters." I told him. Then I leant in to kiss him.
When I pulled away I wasn't by Vic anymore. He was sitting on the opposite side of the room to me. We were back in the room with the sofa.
"What happened?" I asked.
"You saw enough." Vic shrugged.
"I want to go back," I whispered. "I was so happy. Let me go back." I tried.
"No, Han." Vic said.
"Why not?"
"It's time to wake up." he whispered.

Then my eyes opened. I found myself in my bedroom. I sat up in bed, panting. I gasped and slung my legs over the side of the bed. I needed to talk to Jaime.
