High School Never Ends
Maybe I Could Runaway
When we reached the school gates I began to hesitate. Mike, however, had continued walking not realising I wasn’t next to him. I couldn’t help but let out a giggle when I noticed he was talking to himself. At that moment, he turned his head and realised I wasn’t there. He turned around, obviously confused, when he found me still stood at the entrance.
“What?” He asked
I can’t tell him about the threat from Amelia, I don’t want him involved.
“Eh… I-I-I’m meeting a friend.” I stupidly replied
What friends? I don’t have any friends!?
“Right, well, I’ll wait with you then.”
“Okay… Wait! What? No!” I sighed. “Lets be honest Mike, we both know I don’t have any friends. Not now.”
“That’s not true, you have me.” He grinned
“Ah, that’s sweet but not a good idea. Not on your part.”
“Why? Because big, scary Amelia’s gonna kick the crap outta me?”
“Basically… Yeh.”
“Are you kidding? I’m tougher than her, she’d be down in a second.”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to insult your masculinity.”
“But… I’m your hero: your saviour! She won’t mess with us!”
I laughed.
“Wait, who’s us?”
“Oh, the guys!” Mike beamed
I knew of his group of friends; they’re like a little gang yet not an actual gang.
“No, I don’t want to involve anymore people Mike. Look it’s just…”
“Shh!” He cut me off
My eyes widened in panic, as he peeked his head around the corner.
“Shit! Is she there. Oh god, I’ve gotta go. I’ll run away. Don’t come looking for…”
“Get over yourself.” He laughed. “All clear, you’re gonna meet the guys!” He grinned before grabbing my wrist and dragging me through the courtyard.
