Finding freedom

I just got off of the phone with Vic and am sitting on the sofa in my dad's living room.
I sit there for a minute before my mom sits down next to me.

"He really does love you Melony" she says placing a strand of my hair behind my ear.
"Then why did he kiss somebody else?" I asked, more to myself then to her.

"I don't know why he did that honey, but he loves you. You can see it in his eyes every time he is with you, they way his eyes light up when you enter the room, the way a smile spreads across his face when you laugh. honey he needs you and you need him. Besides, do you even know if he kissed her? She might have kissed him."

I thought about it for a while.
Maybe she was right, maybe she kissed him first.
But he sure did not look like he was trying to stop her in any way.

We sat in silence for what seemed like forever until my phone rang.
I checked the caller ID, it was a blocked number.
I pressed answer.

"Hello?" I asked wondering who it might be.
"Yes, can I speak to miss Melony Mathers?" This deep raspy voice asked.
"This is she, who is this?" I asked confused, who would be calling me at this time of night? (Considering its 12:27 AM)

"I am sheriff Connors, I found your phone number in Mister Fuentes's phone as an emergency number"
Cold shivers ran all throughout my body.
"What's wrong? Where is he?" I asked, tears threatening to run down my face.
"Mister Fuentes was speeding and ended up in a car crash and has been sent to the emergency room for immediate help" he sighed.

In that instant tears were now streaming down my face and my entire body was trembling.
I tried to calm myself down long enough to get off of the phone.
i took a deep breath.
"Okay, I'm on my way" I said pressing end.

My mom looked at me with this shocked emotion, I guess she heard.
I started sobbing again and soon she pulled me into her embrace.

"Its...all...my...fault" I cried between sobs.
My mom gently brushed my hair with her hands.
"Honey, you can't blame yourself for this, he shouldn't have been speeding in the middle of the night" she said with a shaky voice.
"But if it wasn't for me, he wouldn't be driving in the middle of the night in the first place" I cried.

We stayed like that in silence until I had calmed down.
I put my shoes on and grabbed my bag and keys.

I walked out the door without a word and started the car.

Sorry I didn't update last night, I was so sleepy.
