Finding freedom

*MEL'S POV*

I find the nearest parking spot and pull in, i shut the car off and pull the keys out of the ignition.

I slide out of the car and hurry towards the entrance of the ER.
As I walk in to the hospital I see the waiting room filled with everybody.

Kathy was sitting in the chair closest to the door, biting her nails and bobbing her leg up and down.
Jaime and Cindy are cuddled up in a corner asleep.
Tony is sitting in a chair with his face in his hands.
And Mike is pacing the length of the waiting room with frustration, anger and sadness written all over his face.

When Kathy noticed me standing at the door she stood up immediatly,
She pulled me into a hug and let out a little sigh.
"How long have you guys been here?" I asked in a quiet voice pulling away.
"About an hour" she said sitting down.

I walked up to Mike who was facing the doors to where I guess Vic was.
I tapped his shoulder, he turned around to face me.
"We need to talk" I said looking at his sad brown eyes.
"Yeah,we do" he said looking like he's about to cry.

I nod my head and lead him outside.

*MIKE'S POV*

I followed her outside.
There are only two reasons Vic might be speeding on the highway in the middle of the night.
Either he was on his way to meet Melony, or something much more terrible.
Either way, I was gonna find out now.

When we got outside she sat down on a bench and motioned me to sit down next to her.
I sat down and looked at her.

After a couple of moments of trying to find out what to say she finally said something.
"Vic, was supposed to be coming over to tell me something" she said looking at the ground.

I knew it, he was going to tell her about Layla, just great.
I couldn't help but feel angry towards her.
I mean yeah it was kind dumb fuck of my brother to be kissing somebody else when he had such an amazing person like Mel in is life.
Its the first time I had seen him that happy sense the Layla incident.

But if Mel hadn't of been so hard headed and listened to what Vic had to say about it he would have never had to be driving in the middle of the night.

She must have been reading my mind because then she said.
"I'm so sorry Mike, if it wasn't for me he wouldn't have to be driving like that"
She held her face in her hands sobbing.
It was sad seeing her like this, she couldn't blame herself completely for what happened, Vic WAS speeding, so it was kind of his fault too.

I pulled her into my chest and held onto her.
I rubbed circles on her back to sooth her, "its ok, he should've known not to be speeding" I whispered.

We sat like that for a few more minutes until she had calmed completely.
She sat up and looked at me.
Damn she's beautiful.
Before I knew it I pulled her towards me and kissed her.

After a few seconds I slowly pulled away, "I'm sorry, I don't know what I was thinking, you're just so beautiful".
she just looked at me with this shocked look on her face.
She stood up and ran back inside the hospital.

What the fuck was I doing? She is my brother's girlfriend.
And I think I'm in love with Kathy...No...I AM in love with Kathy, I've always been in love with Kathy.
But what was I doing kissing Mel?

Notes

One problem after another.
How will it all play out? Is there hope for Mathy and Velony? Or are they doomed?
