I Said I'd Never Let You Go

I had successfully avoided Tony for the past week, but I knew I would have to see him eventually. Luckily for me we didn’t play until 7 PM tonight so I was going to make a change. I needed something different in my appearance. Chloe said she was going to stay at the booth, but for me to come straight there after I was done so she could see.

The salon was quiet, but I mind at all. It was very hard to find a solitary moment on tour. I got up at about 9:30 in the morning and was running around doing press, talking with fans, helping at the booth, doing a signing, preforming, or hanging out on the bus with the boys. I was always delighted when I found a moment to myself.

“So sweetheart, what are we doing for you today?” The hairdresser asked as she tied a cape around my neck.

“Blonde.” I state. “I want to go blonde.”

“That’s a very big change.” She says before grabbing a swatch book I snuck a look at her certification. Her name was Dawn. “What shade did you want to go?”

I point to a white blonde one “This one.”

She nodded and walked back over to the hair color station and started to mix up the bleach. I took out my phone and opened twitter. I quickly took a picture and posted it.

I continued to scroll through my news feed when a tweet caught my eye.

'@Tony_Turtle:I screwed up. I don’t know what came over me. You don’t know how sorry I am.’

I roll my eyes. As much as I love him there was nothing that could make me forget that. Tony knew that I came from an abusive past and I would be dammed if I let him touch me like that again.

I was about to lock my phone again when I saw something that caught my eye once more. It was a photo of two hands intertwined. I had seen that picture many times. I had been my background for a while; and was still saved on my phone.

’@AustinCarlile: And if I ever catch the ones who hurt you, I’m hoping that god looks away this time. <3’

I close my eyes and take a deep breath. I knew he still cared about me; I also knew that I still loved him. When I told him what Tony had done he was livid but he himself had hurt me just as much. After everything that had in the past year and a half my heart hurt.

I opened my eyes again blinking away tears. Dawn walked back over and gave me a worried look. “Oh honey no need to cry about this. You will look gorgeous no matter the color.”

I laughed. “It’s not the hair. It’s boy drama.”

“Well we have plenty of time. Why don’t you tell me, letting it all out to a stranger helps more than talking to you best friends. Get an unbiased opinion.”

I contemplated it for a minute before nodding my head. I took a deep breath and began to tell her about Austin and Tony. She listened intently as she applied the color to my hair. She didn’t say much throughout my story just asked a few questions to get more information on certain things. I told her how I didn’t know what to do. I also told her about that Twitter posts and the text I had gotten.

She slid the cap over my head and took me over to the dryer. She grabbed a chair and sat in front of me.

“You weren’t kidding when you said boy drama love.” She chuckled. “I think you need to take some time to be single and after a little while see how you feel about them both. There is nothing wrong with doing you for a little bit. Have fun. You are young and on tour with your best friends. Live it up for a while and let them know how you feel when you are ready. Not cause they want answers. There will be something that will make you realized who you are supposed to be with.”

I nod my head and thank her as she gets up and tends to another customer.
