What Are Friends?

"Awww Tone can you tie my shooooe" I complained while we were walking down the hall towards my last class before lunch.

"Why can't you?" He laughed kneeling down to tie my lace.

I never learnt to tie laces no matter how hard I try I just cant. People always try to teach me but its a lost cause.

"You owe me" He said and crossed his arms.

"Oh really and what would you like?" I smirked.

"A kiss" He pointed to his cheek "Here"

"You're an idiot" I laughed as I kissed his cheek. "What do you think about setting Mike up with Abby?" I asked as we sat at our desks.

"Holy crap Am! Why did I not think of that?" He said so I'm guessing he liked the idea.

"Because you're a dumb ass and I'm smart" I teased poking my tongue at him.

After class we walked to the cafeteria and waited for everyone. Mike and Abby arrived together and were all ready laughing and flirting. We opted to sit outside to avoid everyones judgmental stares and whispers "Why are the popular girls hanging out with weirdos?" "They must feel sorry for the freaks" just stupid shit.

We sat on a patch of green grass under the old willow tree and talked about how drunk each of us were at the party and what we actually remembered.

"Amily, Abby what a pleasant surprise" Sara laughed, she had Caitlin by her side along with Sierra, and Holly. Our replacements I'm guessing.

"Surprising? yes, pleasant? far from" I said before grabbing my stuff and walking away.

"I guess you don't want what I came to bring you" She laughed. I turned around to see her staring at me with her arms crossed. "Here loser" She threw a notebook at me "Don't worry only a few people read it" She laughed before they all walked away.

I looked down at the notebook in my hand and realized it was my diary from when I was 12 to 14.

"Is that?" Tony asked walking up to me.

I just nodded my head while still staring at it. "How did she get it?" I asked more to myself.

"The party, it was in your car. She must have stolen it or something" He said putting his arm around my waist to comfort me. I opened the notebook and flicked through the pages full of depressed words of self hate and blood covered suicide notes.

I handed the book to Tony and walked off then once I got around the corner I ran. I got to my car and sat inside starting it. I looked in the rear view mirror to back out of the parking space when I saw my reflection It was like an invisible wall shattered and I burst into tears. Only a few people? in this school by tomorrow everybody would have heard about my past suicide attempts and self hatred. I heard a tapping on the window and looked up to see Mike standing there, He opened the door and sat in the passengers seat.

"How about we skip the rest of school?" He said with a smile.

I gave him a sad smile and hugged him "You're the best" I sniffled clearing away the stray tears.

I drove off "Where should we go?" I asked

"Mine" He said the guys and Abby to tell themI was okay.

When we got to Vic and Mikes house we went straight to Mikes room, Mamma and Pappa weren't home so we decided to make the most of that and smoke up, I only ever smoke weed when I'm stressed or upset and now seems great. Mike rolled me a joint and I took it from him lighting it up and inhaling the chemicals. I instantly relaxed more and more with each drag. Mike and I were laughing at everything, how our voices sounded funny, how the light from the window made funny shadow shapes on the ground and how everything was funny even though it really wasn't. I called dad and told him I was studing at Mikes this afternoon and won't be home late. Mike and I decided to have a nap until Mamma and Pappa Fuentes come home. I got under his blankets and wrapped my arms around him before falling into a peaceful drug induced sleep.
