It never ends

I woke up the next day with my head pounding. I leaned up rubbing my hand over my forehead. I was freezing. Why was it so cold in here? Where am I anyway?

I looked around and took a sigh of relief. I was just in my dorm room but I wasn’t in my old clothes from last night. I was dressed in only a plain white oversized t-shirt. Who dressed me? My hair was a little tangled and my mouth felt dry.

I suddenly felt the bed move and I quickly turned my attention to the other side. It was Oliver, lightly sleeping laying on one side. His dark hair messy. His face was blank. I smiled and tapped his shoulders. He didn’t wake up so I repeated and his eyes slowly opened and he immediately laid them on mine. A smile spread across his lips. He reached for my hand and rubbed my knuckles with his thumb.


“hey” he said. I melted a little inside. He was half asleep and half awake and his voice was low and sweet. I wanted him to keep talking.


“hey oliver” I said laying back down my face in front of his. His eyes were dark and looked brown. “umm about last night” I said , my voice fading.

“you were very…interesting” my cheeks heartened up. Oh no! did I do something!?

Oliver must’ve noticed my embarrassment and slid next to me. He also slid down a bit so we were face to face.

“nothing bad” he moved his hand to my waist and lingered his fingers up to my shoulder before kissing me. I momentarily forgot my embarrassment, then I heard the chime of my cell phone. I turned to the nightstand, it wasn’t there. Then I remembered it was in the pocket of my shorts I wore yesterday.

“I gotta get my phone” I said leaning up. Oliver pulled his arm back and propped his head up watching me walk over to the small pile of clothes at the end of the bed. I reached in the pocket of my shorts and took out my phone. It was Tris. I pressed the green button and placed innext to my ear.

“hey skyler practice today”

“practice? For- nevermind, that’s today, nobody told me.”

“well I’m telling you now, hurry up”

“okay, I’ll be there in 5” I said and hung up the phone. That’ when I noticed scarlett wasn’t in her bed. I mentally face palmed myself for not noticing earlier.

“what?” oliver asked.

“I have practice today, I need to get dressed.” I began digging through my suitcase and drawers for shorts and a shirt.

“I’ll drive you” oliver said getting up. He didn’t have a shirt on, all his tattoos were visible and I wanted to know about each one. Later, I thought to myself digging out a pair of black fitted shorts and a white t-shirt.

Oliver left the room, all he was wearing were jeans. I quickly got dressed and went into the kitchen were oliver was. He was drinking something clear, I didn’t know if it was water or liquor and I really didn’t care. Oliver finished his drink and we left. I followed him to his car and he drove the short length to the athletic building.

“what time should I get you?” he asked as I got out.

“I don’t know, I’ll call you” I responded holding up my cell phone. Oliver nodded and drove off. I watched his car until it was around the corner

I went inside the building to find everyone still stretching. I saw tris and her friends talking. Tris noticed me and ran up to me.

“hey skyler! That was fast, I thought you didn’t have a car?”

“oliver drove me” I answered. There was a flash of something in tris eyes but she quickly blinked it away and kept the smile on her face.

“come Katherine wants to meet you” tris grabbed my hand and pulled me over to her group of friends, within was Katherine. She was pretty up close. Her blonde hair was pulled up into a ponytail held up by a blue string that matched her blue eyes that were so bright I was sure they were contacts. She was taller , thinner and intimidated me. She looked at me and smiled.

“hi, you must be skyler, tris told me about you” she smiled.

“yea, you’re Katherine”

Katherine smiled even brighter.

“yes I am, don’t bother calling me Katherine, you can call me kat”

“oh okay, kat” I felt kinda awkward saying it. But I guess she sees me as a friend which is good I’m sure.

Katherine smiled a bright smile and walked over to the net and put her hands up to stop the game.

“everyone, I’d like to introduce our new member, skyler” she gestured her hand at me. I managed a smile as everyone looked at me. I hated attention, everyone was looking at me and I felt my cheeks heating up. It didn’t last long as everyone went back to their game. Tris, Katherine and their friends played a separate game with the net next to the original one. As I was about to join a girl with golden brown hair came up to me.

“skyler, skyler deveraxe?” I was used to people pronouncing my last name wrong it was still annoying.

“deveraux” I corrected her, “yea?”

“you’re the girl, with oliver right?” I sucked in a breath. I don’t know her but it seems she knows me. It wasn’t a lot but it was more than I was comfortable with. If she knows something wouldn’t everyone?

“yea why?” the girl broke eye contact with me, her smile faded but she realized and quickly smiled again. But it wasn’t the same, it was bitter.

“nothing, umm just tell him emma said hi” she gave me one more full look then turned around and walked away.

What was that? Is that what they’re over their talking about, me? The look she gave me was the same one tris gave me when she saw the necklace oliver gave me. Was there something I didn’t know about, something I should know about.

I shook my head. I’m gonna ignore this now, just for now, but my curiosity will get the best of me and I’ll ask oliver. Get an understanding. Or I can just ask Tris. But whatever it is, good or bad, I wanna hear it from oliver himself.

the song is heaven knows by the pretty reckless which is one of my favorite bands. sorry for late chapter, testing week. oh yea i wanna get characters for katherine and tris cause i want them to be more major characters especially katherine.
