What Happened?

“So do you think Kellin has issues from the past that might be affecting your relationship now?” Tay asked after Kellin left. It was obvious that she was trying to avoid an awkward silence and Vic was semi-thankful for that.
Vic played with the sleeves of his hoodie and sat deep in thought biting his lip.
4 years earlier
I lay on the old dingy couch in mine and Kellin’s new apartment. Kellin lived in my house for a year while we were taking our first year in college and trying to get our shit together but we finally managed to afford an apartment with both of our jobs. I worked part time and went to school part time and so did Kellin though our little shitty jobs at starbucks and a book store didn’t pay great we still managed to get by together, we had no idea what we were doing with our lives. We just both knew that we didn’t want to end up in some dead end office job. I was in art school and Kellin was majoring in English.
The TV buzzed in the backround as I stare at the ceiling. Kellin just came out to his parents so their relationship is quite fragile at the moment but they were both happy that Kellin was happy and that’s all that matters, I smiled at the thought of Kellin’s smile when his mom said “Okay, Vic I have some left over pie do you want some?”. His dad didn’t do much but grunt and nod. He went on vacation with them for the weekend in Florida so I was alone for the weekend.
Mike is a senior in high school back in San Diego and Jaime and Tony both went to school out of state so I didn’t really have much to do. I visited my mom earlier today; apparently they’re planning on moving back to Cali to spend more time with Mike. I wanted to talk to Kellin about that, I didn’t want to be so far away from my family.
I was snapped out of my thoughts by a buzz from the coffee table. I picked up my phone to see I had a call from Kellin. I answered it and held the phone to my ear, sitting up.
“V-Vic,” He choked out. I heard quiet sobs from the other end.
“Can you p-pick m-me up at the airport-t?” He stuttered. I was panicking at this point. What happened?
“Of course,” I answered he disconnected the phone and I quickly stood up. I threw on my jacket and grabbed my keys not even bothering to put on shoes.
I made my way down the stairs because the shitty elevator was always broken. I hopped in my car and sped to the airport. Luckily I didn’t get pulled over because I was sure that I broke the law plenty of times.
I pulled over when I saw Kellin sitting on his suitcase with his head in his hands. His shoulders were shaking and I knew he was crying. I jogged over to him and yelled his name getting his attention. He quickly stood up and wrapped his arms around me. He was shaking and I quickly wrapped my arms around his waist and pulled him closer.
We stood there for a minute just hugging in silence. My thoughts were racing at a thousand mile per hour. Why was he home early? What happened? Did he have an argument with his parents?
What went wrong?
“Kells…” I mumbled into his shoulder I pulled away and looked in his eyes. “What happened?”
His bottom lip trembled. He looked so… broken and I don’t think I’d ever seen him so vulnerable. Like a lost puppy or kid who lost his mom at walmart.
“M-My d-dad,” he managed to stutter out. “Is d-dead,”
I looked at him with wide eyes.
“Kellin oh my god,” I pulled him back into a hug and squeezed as tight as I could as if I could squeeze out the pain and sadness. He soon stopped shaking and managed to compose himself.
“I’m sorry,” he whispered. I just shook my head kept him close.
-Present-
“And why do you think that would affect your relationship now?” Tay asked.
“That’s where I fucked up Vic,” Kellin whispered from the doorway. “My dad killed himself that weekend after my mom had found out that he had been cheating on her, pretty much since I was born,” His eyes glazed over.
“T-that night,” Kellin took a deep breath to compose himself “M-my old friend, Austin, was the one who found him,”
Vic and Tay looked up at Kellin as he shut the door and sat next to Vic, a lot closer than they were originally sat. Their shoulders and thighs were touching. With what Kellin was about to say he wanted to have some contact with Vic before he knew he was going to be utterly disgusted with him.
“I did something really stupid that night,” Kellin sniffled. “Austin did too but I’m taking the blame, I had the choice and I choose the wrong one-,” Vic cut him off mid-sentence as it started to click in his head what Kellin was going to say.
“No,” Vic stood up and shook his head. At this point they were completely ignoring Tay. Tears were trailing down both of their faces freely and neither made a move to stop them. Vic kept shaking his head and shut his eyes as tight as possible as if he could pretend that this wasn’t happening to him. “No, Kellin please tell me you aren’t going to say what I think you’re going to say,” Vic sobbed.
“I-I’m sorry,” Kellin whispered “I understand if you hate me, I deserve it I don’t deserve you I’m a terrible person and I wanted to tell you but I didn’t know how and, and-,” Kellin’s rant was cut off.
“I don’t hate you,” Vic mumbled. He sat back down next to Kellin and looked at him for a second in a painfully long silence. He turned to Tay and sat up he wiped his eyes with the sleeve of his hoodie. He looked at Kellin again and wiped the tears off of his face with his sleeve. He nodded at Tay.
“Let’s keep going,” He mumbled. Kellin looked at him in shock but looked back at Tay expectantly. She looked even more shocked than either of them but gladly continued the session.
Neither Kellin nor Vic knew how to feel but there was one thing that Kellin cared about most at the moment.
He doesn’t hate me.

So I apologize for the lack of updates my computer is a piece of shit and keeps turning off while I'm writing (My charger is broken :c) SO I finally managed to get this all done. I'm also trying to drag this out a bit because I only have 4 or five chapters left and I always planned for it to be short.
