I put on my all black converse and head to the living room.

“Let’s go.” My dad said. We were out the door heading to the service.

-Service-

“Can Brittany’s daughter come up please?” asked the priest. I give Ana’s hand a squeeze and she gets up, going with me to the little stage.

“Hi, first thing I want to thank all of you for coming. My mom was a strong woman. She was a fighter. She sadly lost the war she had with herself. My mom was my best friend, a wonderful mother and probably the best wife my dad could ever have in my opinion.” I turn to my mom’s red coffin. “Mommy. I stopped calling you that when I was 4. I’m going to miss you mom, dad’s going to miss you. Why did you leave me? I’ll never know, and probably dad knows.I’ll be strong for Dad and my cousins. I can’t promise but ill try. I love you mom, I truly did, Watch me from above, and ill talk to you every night.” I grab a Purple flower and place it in her hands. “Your battle scars will never fade, no matter how much you try. They make you beautiful. It shows your winning and fighting. You told me that when you saw mine for the first time. Rest in Paradise Mom, Its better there then here.” I kiss her forehead and went to go sit down.My dad goes up next.

~~DANIEL~~

“BRITTANY, my love, my world, my everything. It was just a two days ago that I saw you smile as we looked at our wedding album together, looking on how beautiful our bundle of joy was growing into. Brit, I don’t know why you decided to leave, but ill stay strong. I’ll take care of Amber. I’ll never love anyone else. I promised in our wedding that you were going to be my one and only, and I will keep It that way. I didn’t just lose my wife, but my best friend as well. Baby, take care from up there. Rest in paradise baby.”

~~Ana~~

“Aunt Bri. We didn’t really talk but the times we had our girls‘night out. It’s something I will never forget. I love you auntie, and ill never leave Amber’s side. She’s my cousin and my best friend. I will make sure nothing goes wrong. Rest in peace Aunt Bri, I love you and ill miss you dearly."

~~ Hector. ~~

I didn’t want to talk in front of everybody. I was not in the mood. As some people were going to close Amber’s mom coffin. I step next to it and held her cold hand.

“Hey. Mrs. Cortez, now I know you told me many times to call you Bri or Brit, but not today. I promise you that I will take care of Amber. I haven’t told your husband this, but I love her dearly. I wouldn’t want her to spend her days locked up, or her days crying. Ill take very good care of her Mrs. I promise.” I kiss her hand and put it back.

“HECTOR!” my dad yelled.

“IM COMING DAD!”

~~~ BURIAL~~~

~Ana~

“MOOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Amber yelled once more as they lowered the coffin into the ground. “MOOM!!! TAKE ME WITH YOU!!!” I held her tightly next to me.

“Amber.” She just kept crying into my dress.

“ANA MAKE HER COME BACK!”

“I can’t sweetie, I’m sorry.” She loosens the embrace and runs toward the hole. Chris jumps on her and pins her to the ground. He tells her something and she sits up and cries in his arms. I look at Uncle Daniel and he’s just staring at something. He was pale and shaking. My mom goes to him and gives him a hug.

“Let’s take Amber home.” My dad said. We go to where Chris was and my dad carried her to the car and we headed to our house.

“Amber?” I shake her a little.

“Ana? Is she really gone?” She looks at me.

“Sorry sweetie.” She sighs and closes her eyes.

“She’s not in pain anymore.”

And I swear I heard “soon, neither would i.”

tbh: my heart shattered writing this.. because my dad yelled some of those lines when he found out my grandmother passed away....
