We Bleed Like Water Colors and Drunken Pastels
"AHHHHHH!" was all I was hearing for the past 20 minutes as Jaime was chasing Nicole around outside.
We all sat around a fire, laughing while Mike and Vic talked about their childhood.
"I remember when you were taller than me, bro." Mike said to Vic who playfully punched his arm.
Tony had his arm around my waist and I was sitting on his lap, wondering how I was so lucky to have him.
"Watcha thinking about babe?" Tony asked me.
"Just how lucky I am to have someone like you." I replied smiling.
He kissed my lips as Vic yelled "Get a room you two!"
Then I heard a couple sticks break and a scream.
Nicole.
"Nicole what happened?!" I yelled as I jumped off of Tony's lap and ran over to her.
"We were chasing each other around.. And I- I slipped..."
I looked down to see her ankle which was a mixture of purple and blue, now throbbing.
"Holy shit, we've gotta get you to a hospital!"
Jaime picked Nicole up bridal style and she let out a scream of pain.
"FUCK!"
I ran over to her and Jaime.
"Come with me, I'm gonna drive her there, there's no need to wait for someone to come get her."
He lightly put Nicole's body in the back of the car and let her rest her foot on the windowsill as I climbed in the passenger seat.
Jaime began driving quickly as I tried to comfort Nicole.
"It'll be okay, we're almost there." I assured her.
"It hurts so bad! I barely even fell!"
"What did you fall on?"
"I'm not sure... It was like a hole of some sort."
I raised my eyebrows and opened my mouth to speak before Jaime hopped out of the front seat and immediately picked up Nicole and quickly got her into the hospital.
Jaime and I were sitting in the waiting room until the doctor came out to tell us the news.
I was thinking about how sweet and protective he was when I realized I was smiling from ear to ear.
"What are you so jittery about?" Jaime chuckled.
"I was just thinking about how nice you are. How much you care about Nicole. How much of a big brother you act like to me. I really like you Jaime. In a brother sister sort of way." I laughed "I think you're great for her."
He smiled and hugged me as the doctor walked into the room.
"Jaime Preciado and Yaressi Colette?"
Jaime jumped right up.
"That's us." he said taking my hand and pulling me up.
"Well, it seems that your friend Nicole has a slight sprain in her ankle. It's going to take a while to heal, but for now she has to use these." he said handing me a black cast and crutches.
I nodded. "Can we see her?"
"Of course."
We walked past numerous rooms, me and Jaime both on the doctors heels when he finally stopped and directed us into the room Nicole was in.
She smiled at the sight of us.
"Nicole!" I exclaimed sprinting towards her as Jaime followed.
"Oh, thank goodness you're alright." I said hugging her.
Jaime sat on the edge of Nicole's bed beside her.
"I'm so sorry. I feel like this is all my fault for chasing you around outside. I promise that I'll be the one to take care of you." he kissed her lips and pulled away after a couple seconds.
"Jaime, none of this was your fault. We were having fun, and I liked when you were chasing me. Thank you." she said smiling.
"Well, sorry to interrupt but uh, you kinda have to use these until it heals." I said holding up the cast and crutches.
She groaned.
"The person who made these things obviously did not have a sense of fashion, at all. Gross."
She complained taking the crutches.
I laughed at what she said as Jaime helped her into the cast.
He was so good to her. I just hope he's always gonna be this way to her. I'd hate to see her hurt again.
She hopped up and put the crutches under her arms as Jaime and I kept her steady.
"I already signed the papers to get you out of here." I told her.
"Thanks Yess." she smiled.
We made it back and Nicole was starting to have control on her crutches.
She hopped her way inside and Vic and Mike looked up from the TV.
"Whoa!" Vic exclaimed getting up from his spot.
Mike stood up.
"Yeah, what he said."
They both eyed her foot for a while until Vic finally asked "What happened?"
"It's sprained from me chasing her outside." Jaime sighed.
"Do you guys know where Tony went?"
I asked them.
"Oh, he passed out in his bunk not too long after you guys left. But he's been getting up a couple of times, he said he couldn't sleep."
I walked over to Tony's bunk to find him laying there, staring at the wall.
I climbed in next to him and he jumped.
"What the- oh it's you. You scared the shit out of me." he let out a sigh of relief.
"So, is Nicole okay?" he asked.
"Yeah, she sprained her ankle but she got a cast and crutches."
"That's good." he said after letting out a yawn.
"Tired?"
"Very." he sighed kissing my forehead and wrapping his arms around me.
I wrapped myself around his body and fell asleep to the sound of his light snores.
