Stay Away From My Friends

I Can't Escape This Place, It's In My Mind

Pierce the Veil had their own tours to worry about instead of other bands. Which is why they never knew about Natalie and Austin Carlile dating. The three guys were still dating their girls but Tony was a different story. He never liked going out to party at clubs when they would go on their days off. He preferred to stay in, watch old movies and drink the night away, calling Natalie’s old number but hearing the same tone answer.

‘We’re sorry, but your request couldn’t be completed. Please check the number and dial again.’ The line would cut and Tony would call again, until he would give up, throwing his phone on the couch. He would sit and continue drinking until he fell asleep. Tony developed a massive drinking problem, hoping that it would get his mind off Natalie. After a year of the drinking, he began going out to bars more. Finding girls there and taking them to cheap motels for a little fun. He would go back to the bus early the next morning, leaving the girl alone and without a care. He would stumble in, go to take a shower and ignore the band as they asked where he was. Vic, Jaime, and Mike soon ignored him after a few months of him doing the same.

‘Maybe you should have a talk with him.’
Elsie told Vic over the phone one day.

“What do I tell him? I don’t even know why he’s suddenly acting like this.” Vic answered.

‘Vic, maybe he’s still hurt about-‘
Vic perked his head up as a loud crash was heard in the lounge and a sudden yell. ‘What was that?’ Elsie asked, hearing the yell.

“Tony stop!” Jaime yelled.

“I’ll call you back.” Vic quickly told Elsie, running out and seeing Jaime pull a bloody Tony away from n equally bloody Mike. They were both trying to punch each other and Vic ran, holding his brother back. “What the hell is going on!?” Vic yelled, sternly looking at Tony and at Mike.

“He just fucking attacked me when I told Jaime that Natalie liked this movie!” Mike yelled.

“Stop saying her name you asshole!” Tony yelled, escaping Jaime’s hold and lunging at Mike, punching him in the stomach.

“Tony Perry, stop this right now!” Vic yelled as Jaime pulled him away again.

“No I will not! I’m getting sick and tired of hearing her, seeing her, and thinking of her!” Tony yelled, pushing Jaime away and grabbing the bottle of whiskey off the table. He gulped it down, feeling Jaime pull the almost empty bottle away.

“Alright Tone, relax with the drinking.” Tony let the bottle go, allowing Jaime to take it from him.

“I miss her so much. I shouldn’t have done that to her. She means the world to me and now she won’t answer my calls or anything.” Tony whispered, kneeling on the floor and crying. Mike walked over and sat next to him. Even after what he did for him, he was still his best friend.

“Tony, a mistake is a mistake and it’s the past. You can’t go back and fix it, you just have to learn from it.” Mike whispered. Tony held his head in his hands.

“I fucked up man. I hear her talking to me when I’m drinking. I can swear she’s sitting across the room from me, smiling and acting like nothing happened. Next thing I know, I’m stumbling to her but I instead I reach the couch and she’s sitting somewhere else, asking what I’m doing.” Tony sobbed. Vic pulled him in for a hug and Mike wrapped his arms around them both. Jaime began hiding the alcohol, making sure to put it where Tony wouldn’t find it.

“Where do you go at nights Tony?” Vic whispered. Jaime sat on the floor in front of his three best friends and watched Tony as he bit his lip.

“Tony?” Jaime whispered, trying to make him talk.

“I go to cheap motels with girls.” Tony mumbled. Mike caught it and shook his head.

“That’s not good Tony.” Tony gripped his hair and clenched his teeth.

“I know it’s not good!” He yelled. “But I can’t help it!” The group stayed with him, helping him through his problems.

Another year passed, the band got Tony out of his one night stands with random girls, but they couldn’t stop him when it came to the alcohol. No matter what they tried, he would yell and tell them that it was his life. The band knew that one day he would hit rock bottom, and when that day came, they would be there to pull him back out.

Sometime later, Tony found a girl at the bar and they began talking. She was an amazing listener, but Tony knew he was only using her to replace Natalie, even though he knew he never could. The girl, Monica Basil, had black hair while Natalie had bleach blonde. Moni had dark brown eyes, almost black. She was tall, lean, and wanted attention. Tony only spoke to her because she had sat next to him and ordered the same thing.

Tony and Moni talked all night long, going to a cheap motel after, but this time he stayed until she woke up. They exchanged numbers and went off. They talked on the phone, texted, video chatted and soon, Tony found himself forcing the relationship with Moni. He knew he didn’t like her, she didn’t like him either, they were just friends with benefits. That’s all they would ever be in Tony’s eyes.

See love, this is why I love you. Once I think I'm done with the whole story, you remind me of her and I realize, this can't be the end. One more chapter will be posted, THEN the epilogue.
