All Again For You

Are You Catching My Drift Yet?

"Katelynne, what time was that band coming in today?" I asked, flipping through papers to see who I had a meeting with this afternoon. I sighed, not finding the paper, realizing I had not come in that day for the meeting because I had bronchitis.

She yelled from the other room, where her desk sat, "Let me check." I heard clicking from the computer then her shouting, "At 2."

I nodded, "Okay, thank you. It was just to set up their interview and talk about themselves for a little, right?"

She walked into my office with a smile plastered on her face, "Yes. They shouldn't be here longer than 45 minutes."

"Okay, thank you, again. You're my life saver."

She giggled than walked back out to her desk, and answered the phone as it had just rang.

I looked out of the window and saw the busy streets of Los Angeles beside me. It was so much bigger than I had imagined it. San Diego is a busy city of course, but this was a whole other world. The only city that was bigger than this one was New York. I freaked out when I got to travel there for work purposes. It was so beautiful. I wouldn't mind living in New York, but I don't know how I would settle being there. I'm a Southern California girl, I'm used to the sun, and the cool nights, and the beach.

I looked at my gold watch that the CEO, Mike Shea, had bought me for Christmas last year. It was so beautiful and I wore it almost always; since gold always seemed to be my go-to color of choice for jewelry because I mainly wore black anyway. It was 12 o' clock on the dot and I decided that Katelynne and I should go to lunch now, my treat. I hollered, "Did you have plans for lunch?"

"I don't, do you wanna go?" She asked, walking into my office once more.

I nodded, "Yeah, I'm starving. It's your pick today, I'll pay."

She gave me a soft smile, "House of Joy?"

"Sounds perfect." I grabbed my black bag with gold detail in the handles and the studs placed here and there, and stood up grabbing my keys. Katelynne and I locked up my office and waved to fellow AP members as we walked out to go eat lunch.

When we arrived, it was 1 PM, and we had about an hour until the band I was supposed to meet with came in. I was looking over my interview I had done with all the boys from Sleeping With Sirens before I emailed it to the editor, Marc, so he could perfect it and send it off to everyone in Ohio so it could go to print. This interview was a really important one. I had talked to Kellin , Jesse, Jack, Gabe, and Justin all about their new album, Feel, and how they felt about getting #3 on Billboard and getting the opportunity to play the main stage this year. Sleeping With Sirens has easily become one of the biggest bands in the last year and a half or so, so of course, we had to give them an interview again.

I was reading over notes I had taken during the interview with them and laughed at how ridiculous they were sometimes. Jesse always seemed to be the butt of the jokes and it made me feel bad for him sometimes, even though everyone knows that their joking. I met the dudes in 2010 at some show they were playing here in LA, and I was blown away. I had just started working at Alt. Press and I got to go backstage and meet them. We became friends almost instantly and then they found out I worked for AP. I was there for Kellin's wedding, and I was super close to all their significant others as well.

I proof-read it three times and then sent it to Marc, making sure it was perfect. I looked around my office and smiled at the frames hung up on the wall. They all held my biggest articles and / or album reviews. I was really proud of those because I worked my ass off. Shea always liked that I wrote what I felt, and put in thoughts and emotions when I reviewed new albums. That's why his favorite was the Save Rock N' Roll review. He said the lines that stood out to him was the last paragraph:

All and all, Fall Out Boy did it again; they mastered the art of lyricism that did more than express how they felt during the absence, they expressed how we felt. They put it into words that nobody else could imagine. And you know what's the most exhilarating part of all of this? They are jumping back on the train, joining their heroes and bands that consider them heroes, and that train is on it's way to Save Rock N' Roll.

I smiled, looking at the frame that was directly in front of me on the wall before my eyes. It was a black and white photo of Fall Out Boy, and underneath it said, "Fall Out Boy: Joining the battle to Save Rock N' Roll." and underneath was my name, Lucy Garcia.

There was a knock on my door that shook me out of my daydreaming sequence, revealing Katelynne as she stepped in. "The band is here, do I send them in?"

I nodded, "Yeah, go ahead. I'm ready."

She gave me a nod in return and smiled, walking out of my office. I heard her say to them that I was ready and that she would lead them to me. Seconds later, four men walked in, all in black, except one, who was wearing white t-shirt that read "Key Street" in teal lettering. Katelynne announced to me, "Here's Pierce the Veil." Then she walked out, closing the door behind her as they all took seats in front of me.

My head shot up as I examined all four of the boys. Holy fuck, it's really them. I noticed Vic who sat down right in front of my gold name plate. "Holy fuck, Lucy?!" He said, shocked.

Mike's head snapped from my walls that held the frames to me and his face turned pale. Jaime and Tony let out a huge grin as they noticed it was me.

"Guys, oh my god! It's so nice to see you." The smile on my face kept growing but Mike still sat there in surprise.

"You're telling me! I heard you're practically running this place." Jaime mentioned, winking at me.

I rolled my eyes, "Hardly. I'm really only the manager for some of the writers here, and I write myself. I wouldn't mind being the editor, though. But, I've heard you guys are basically running the scene out there." They all smiled, even Mike, who couldn't keep his eyes off of me. I looked at him and gave me a soft smile and he looked down, blushing.

"Pft! Not even. But, hopefully one day." Vic answered with a chuckle.

"Uh, yeah right." I opposed, "You guys are doing amazing! Congrats on the success of Collide With The Sky, by the way. It's incredible how the response has been and continues to be and it's already been a year, almost."

"Thanks, Luce." Mike said softly, chewing on his lip, which didn't have a ring on his labret anymore.

"No problem. You guys always said you'd be the biggest band in the world."

They all smirked, looking around my office. "I see you've been quite successful yourself." Tony admired the walls.

"I mean, Shea just really likes my writing style, that's really it."

"I read your review on Fall Out Boy, like I almost cried reading it." Jaime joked, causing a soft giggle to escape my lips.

"Oh be quiet, enough about me. How are you guys doing? You know, besides being in a super successful band." I grabbed my papers in which I would set up their interview that I would be doing.

Mike answered, "We've all been okay. Hardly home, though."

"I know, your touring schedule has been insane."

They all nodded, Vic responding, "It's been so worth it, though. I wouldn't have it any other way."

"Do you live here in LA now?" Jaime asked, eyeing Mike slyly, even though I noticed.

I nodded, "Yeah, been here for about six years now."

"Wow." They all said in unison. "Do you ever go back to SD?" Mike questioned.

"I try to every weekend, sometimes that plan happens, sometimes it doesn't. I really just go to see my family and Brandon and everyone else."

"Fuck, I haven't talked to Brandon in so long." Mike frowned, sticking out his lip.

"Oh, really?" I already knew that though. They talked for a while after Mike and I had broken up, and even when he came back from tour. But, they kind of lost touch because Pierce the Veil hit it big and was doing non-stop touring. Brandon understood that, he was never resentful of Mike for them not talking anymore.

"Yeah, I see Justin and Cristian often, though. He owns that bar, D-"

"-Double Shots." We both said at the same time. Jaime, Tony, and Vic all looked at us and smirked.

"Yeah, I usually try and meet up with everybody there whenever I go." I said.

"Maybe we'll see you there one of these days." Vic said with a smile.

I nodded, "Yeah, maybe." It was quiet for a second and then I figured I should go on about the meeting. "Okay, so I called you guys in here because we at Alternative Press have chosen Pierce the Veil to be our cover band for our next issue." I shot them all a grin. Their faces lit up and I continued, "So, I was wondering the next days you guys have available so we could have the big interview and photo shoot. You guys can choose your own photographer if you want, and we could either meet here in LA, or even back in San Diego if you all would like."

"You're gonna interview us?" Asked Mike, with the shine of hope blaring from his brown eyes.

"Yes, I usually interview the cover bands, and you guys got lucky enough to be stuck with me."

His eyes met mine and he grinned nodding, "Sounds like we are lucky, right guys?"

Murmurs came from their mouths as my gaze was set on Mike. I looked away and to the other guys. Vic was looking through his phone and telling me that they can really do it before August because that's when the chaos of the rest of the summer and fall festivals and tours begin.

"Okay, how about the 23rd of July? It's a Tuesday, I believe and I would actually prefer to go down to San Diego for the photo shoot and the interview. You know, so you all can be in your comfort zone. Does that sound okay?" I questioned.

"Sounds perfect, Luce!" Jaime shouted, causing me to laugh. I gave them some papers to sign and I made it a point to make sure everyone had that date on their calenders on their phones, including me. "Alright guys, well that's about it. Thank you for coming." I thanked, my nose crinkling.

"Hey, before we go, what's your assistant's name?" Vic asked, wiggling his eyebrows. "And, does she have a boyfriend?"

"Her name is Katelynne, you sick fuck." I joked, "And, no. Good luck getting her to give you the time of day. She's 22 and all about her right now." A smirk played on my lips. I got up and gave all of them hugs. Once I got to Mike, he wrapped me around his arms, and I took in his scent. As odd as it may seem, I missed the smell of cologne and weed blended together.

We pulled apart and once all the guys left my office he asked looking down at the carpet beneath him, "Uh, I was wondering something Lucy..."

"What?" I asked, nervousness filling my stomach.

"You've been here for six years, like you said, and I figure that you don't have the same number..." His eyes met mine and begged for me to catch his drift.

I did and a smile crept on my lips. "I know this is so lame, but here's my card." I grabbed a business card from my desk and handed it to him.

He grinned bigger than I've ever seen and held the white card tightly in his grip. "Expect a call from me...you know about business and stuff." He added last second, trying not to seem so urgent.

I nodded, "Yeah, business." I laughed and we walked out of my office. "It was nice seeing all of you."

"See you in a couple of weeks, Luce!" Jaime shouted, waving bye. Mike was the last one to walk out of my door and he looked at me and waved saying, "Bye Lucy."

I returned the wave with a smile and once I heard their voices fade, I walked to the window to make sure they were out of sight from my office. Katelynne instantly shot me a look and grabbed my arm, "That's the Mike you told me about when I first started, isn't it?"

I nodded, biting my lip. "Yeah, that's him. Mike Fuentes."

Her eyes grew and a smile formed on her lips, "This should be one interesting few days with them, shouldn't it?"

"You have no idea."

Once 5:30 hit, Katelynne and I grabbed our purses and whatever else we had brought with us, and walked out of the building to our cars which were meer feet away from one another. "I'll see you tomorrow, Lucy!" She waved getting in, starting up her engine.

I waved at her back, giving her a reassuring nod and a smile. Once I got into my car, I started it up and called Brandon.

"What's up?" He answered after the phone rang twice.

"You'll never guess who I saw today."

"Who?" He asked, knowing I didn't really ever have news to share, so hearing this from me was far too exciting to him.

"Pierce the Veil."

He shouted into the phone, "What?!"

"Yeah, guess who I'm interviewing back home on the 22nd?"

"Shut the fuck up, Lucy. How did that meeting go?"

"It was fine, it wasn't awkward or anything. Mike asked for my number, kinda."

"He what?"

"I gave him my card, he said it was for, and I quote, 'business purposes.'" I laughed at how funny it sounded.

"Dude, this was so meant to happen."

"What was so meant to happen?" I asked, mocking his statement.

"This. You and him coming across one another again. Like, let's be real, I wasn't sure it was going to happen because it's been six fucking years, Luce. But, I guess it's not a big deal to you?"

"I mean, this is work, Brando. I was bound to end up interview the dudes one of these days. That was so long ago. Mike and I aren't 21 and 23 anymore. Things are different."

He scoffed, "I guess, dude. But, if you run into him before the interview, it's meant to be. I promise. Let's make it two more times. If you and Mike run into each other two more times before the 23rd, it's meant to be."

"You're fucking lame, bye." I said, causing him to laugh. Him and I always did that. We always said bye blankly when the other one was being mean, stupid, or completely irrational. This was one of those times.

"Nope, that'll make it three times, okay little bitch?"

I let out a laugh as I entered the wonderfully annoying LA traffic, "Fine, dick. You've been holding onto this since him and I broke up."

"Listen homie, I will never let this go. Ever. But forreal, I should be cooking dinner for Steph and I, so bye."

"Bye, cocksucker." I said as I heard him laugh and I hung up the phone before he could shoot another insulting name at me.

I drove home and thought about what Brandon had said, but I'm not going to be this person who holds onto the past like that. That wasn't me anymore. I'm not the same Lucy I was six years ago. I had a life, and a career. I was 26 and happy as can be. Mike was 28 and had his own agenda. Why would we even think about something that happened a long time ago? I wasn't going to sit here and over-analyze anything, Brandon could do that all that his little heart desires. I'm just going to go on with my life just as I had before.

Notes

ALRIGHT GUYS, what do you think of the second update? What about Brandon's three time rule before it's "meant to be" with Mike and Lucy?

ALSO, the amount of suscribers and feedback I have gotten since putting the first update is insane. Thank you all so much for being apart of this story, I really love you all. ♥

If you guys can help me pick one of the guys for another story, who do you think it should be about?

xoxo

@cosette_: I left that up to you and your imagination. I personally would have had them get married, but ultimately that is up to you. You can think up your own future that they had with each other and with their family and friends.

If they got married, had kids, if she made up with Austin. Their life, and everyone else's. Like Lynda and Brandon, or if she sees her parents again. You know?
