The Tour Life Of Adriana Perry

You Never Really Know

I woke up at the sound of my phone ringing. Who could possibly be ringing me at such an ungodly hour? I looked at it. James. I put it back in it's place and got up. Has he not got the message that I don't want to talk to him? It's 5am and I'm now up. Thank god Bianca wouldn't be up for another couple of hours.

I sighed heading to the kitchen. Popping the kettle on, I leant against the counter, staring at nothing. I made myself a cup of tea before sinking into the sofa and switching the television on. What else could I do at 5 o'clock in the morning? The house phone starting ringing which made me jump, I got up and quickly answered it before it woke Bianca up. “Hello?....I'm at home...No....Yeah I'm fine...I don't want to....bye.” I put the phone down quickly.

Placing the cup down, I headed upstairs to get ready. I could only hope he wouldn't come here to see me because I really didn't want to see him. What sort of a person gets off with some other girl while they have a pregnant girlfriend? That's right, people in bands. Drummers. Ugh. If being let down by Dylan wasn't enough, James had to go and let me down too.

“Bianca, come on. We'll be late!” I shouted through the house. The new school year was due to start and I didn't have a school for her yet. A few minutes later she came running through, I grabbed my keys and off we went. I put it a CD and started driving. I was tapping along, minding my own business.

“Uncle Danny!” Bianca yelled when we pulled up at a shop. I glanced to the left. Rolling my eyes, I got out. I helped Bianca out and went into the store. I could always avoid them. “I want to see Uncle Danny, Mommy pleaseeee.”

“Bianca be quiet, please.” Just as I said that, law and behold Danny walked round the corner, followed by James. I didn't want to see him. Bianca ran up to them, hugging them both. I was hoping she wouldn't say anything. That was the last thing I needed, my 4 year old daughter telling them how rubbish I felt.

“Least we know you're not dead.” Danny spoke first. “Where did you go?”

“Home. I needed to get away.” I half lied. They didn't need to know. I got a quick glance at James who were stood there hands shoved in his pockets. Not so much as a hello. Not even an apology or explanation. I knew it was too good to be true. “I'll call you later, I have to get this monkey into a school.”

“I'll come with you.” Oh he speaks.

“No thanks, you've done enough don't you think?” My tone bitter. I quickly walked off with Bianca. Grabbing what I needed, I payed and left. Getting back in the car, I put my head against the steering wheel. The passenger door opened and in climbed James. I rolled my eyes. “I thought I said no.”

“I said yes, so drive.” I went to say something but decided against it. My hand tapped on the gear stick, I sang along quietly trying to ignore the person in my car. I didn't have anything to say to him. I felt his hand on mine, I moved mine putting it on my lap. We arrived at the school I had picked to put Bianca in. I got myself and her out and began walking in.

We had been there a good two hours before we had finished. “Let's go get lunch honey.” She ran off a little in front of me. When we exited the school, he was still there. I sighed and made my way over. Jaime was there now. “I'm taking Bianca. whatever it going with you two, sort it.” and off he went. I climbed in the car, him following suit. I just sat there, looking at him.

“You messed up, this is your own fault.” I spoke quietly.

“It wasn't like that, I promise you” he sounded honest but I couldn't be sure.

“Did you just forget about me? Your unborn child?” My hand punched the centre part of the steering wheel. “You're not you anymore, dammit James you have a family on the way.”

“I know, just let me show you something please?” I nodded. “Get out the car, I'm driving.” We quickly switched seats. I had time to think. I really did need to control my temper. I had to keep stress levels down. Sounds easy right? Nope, it's worse because of the damn hormones that are whizzing round my body making me feel emotional and stressed at every little thing.

I was snapped from my thoughts when we pulled up outside a house. Getting out the car I was confused as we walked up the path to someone's house. “You can't just walk into someone's house.”

“Just did. Now come on.” I followed him in. My expression changed when I saw everyone there. The confusion didn't leave completely, but the smile became wider. I had a feeling. “Welcome home.” Uncle Vic spoke.

“Wh-what?” I stammered. Then the realisation hit me. I started crying, smiling at the same time. James pulled me into a hug. I heard Danny speak next.

“We wanted to surprise you, but...well I'll let James explain.” With that they all left. Leaving me, James and Bianca alone. He sat me down on the sofa. It was a chocolate colour, such a soft fabric, with leather bits on it. It was comfy to say the least.

“The girl you saw me with, was the interior designer. When you walked in, I was kissing her cheek. A thank you one. I knew you wouldn't want to live with Danny and Ben, so I've been setting this place up for us.” I mentally slapped myself. I can't believe I actually thought he was cheating.

“You're an idiot.” I laughed, wiping my eyes. He soon left, to finish the rest of the tour. This gave me chance to put my own touches to this place, move all my stuff in. I left Bianca in the front room watching tele while I explored the house. First room; kitchen. I looked around it and inside everything. It was spacious, beautiful grey granite work tops, an island in the middle topped with glass. To the left of the island was the oven, beautiful metal looking. Everything looked perfect. The colour scheme was exactly how I imagined it to be when I started planning for a place on my own. Silver with black.

I headed upstairs after that. The hallway/landing a beautiful shade of cream. Across the biggest wall a 4 piece picture of the New York sky line hung. First door, I looked inside. It was painted pink, with flowers dotted around so perfectly. It had a small desk in it, a bed, built in closet. I opened the door that was in it. En suite. “Wow...” I said out loud.

I left that room, heading into the next one a little further down. This one was a white/cream colour. It had everything in it. A cot, baby things. I smiled to myself as I looked around. There was a door in this one as well. I went through it, it lead me into the master bedroom. A king size bed smack bang in the middle of it. The walls painted a silver with a black outline. My favourite colour scheme once again. This room had it's own bathroom connected to it.

I wandered back downstairs. Bianca was still sat on the sofa. “Baby, come on. We'll explore downstairs together.” She jumped up, walking with me. We headed downstairs which I assumed would be the basement. It was huge, my mouth hung open as I took in the site in front of me. At one end it was like a glass room. It was filled with instruments. I was praying silently that it was sound proof. The rest of the room was full of things such as table tennis, a fridge, things for Bianca. In the corner that was a number of bean bags, a shelf with books on. Bianca let go of my hand, heading straight for the numerous of things.
I went over to the shelf. Scanning the books I smiled, all my favourites. Fairy lights danced around this area, a lamp on the small table beside it. An iPod, a docking station also situated on the table as well. After a while we went back upstairs, I needed food and clearly so did the two children. Yes even my unborn. I set to work on making mac and cheese. I didn't usually eat this, but I wanted it so bad.

After we had eaten, I cleaned up while Bianca went upstairs to pick out some pj's. I had looked earlier and saw all our stuff had already been brought here. How they managed it was beyond me. I left the stuff to drain and headed upstairs. By the time I had got up there, she had already got herself dressed. “Can I watch a movie mom?”

“Sure, hop into bed. Peppa Pig?”

“Yes please.” I smiled at her, placing the dvd on for her. I gave her a kiss, a cuddle and left the room. I knew she'd soon fall asleep, so I busied myself downstairs cleaning down the kitchen from top to bottom. It was clean but I wanted to make sure.

I grabbed my phone as I flopped onto the couch. I noticed I had a voicemail, I dialled the number and listened to it. I dropped the phone beside me, my mouth slightly open. Only I, would get something like this. I ended the call, leaving my phone on the sofa, I went upstairs and to bed. Only my body had other plans. I led there, tossing and turning trying to hold back my tears. I eventually gave up trying to sleep, I just led there staring at the ceiling.

Today was Bianca's first day of school. I studied her carefully as she sat up at the breakfast bar. She looked beautiful. Once she finished, she climbed down and grabbed her school stuff. “Ready sweetheart?”

“I want to make some new friends!” she grinned. Grabbing my coat and keys, I got her into the car before locking the house up and taking her to school. I walked into the school gates. Some of the parents shot me funny looks, yes I was a young mother who had her second on the way so what? I gave them all small smiles. I didn't feel comfortable being here at all.

Once she had gone into the school, I walked out feeling a bit lost. I didn't know what to do. I'd gotten so used to running around after her. I could go shopping, but I didn't need anything. I pulled out a cigarette, playing with it between 2 fingers contemplating what to do. Is this what it will be like everyday? I decided just to go straight home, lighting up I climbed into the car. I quickly set off, music on a bit louder than usual.

When I pulled up outside the house, I sighed. Turning the car off, I got out and made my way inside. The house was quiet, creaking every now and then as I set to work on clearing the breakfast stuff. Now you could say I should be happy for the peace and quiet but right now I wasn't. All I could think of was that damn message on my phone.

“Hey, you must be our new neighbour.” I blinked a few times. Oh I came outside without even realising.

“Adriana.” I smiled towards the pretty girl, she was a bit older than me. Not by much.

“Delia. So alone or...?” Well she was very much straight to the point wasn't she? I studied her before answering. Long black hair, it wasn't her natural colour. She had multiple facial piercings. A number of tattoo's on her that I could see. Her ears stretched. She was actually so perfect, it was disgusting.

“Erm, I live with my daughter and boyfriend when he gets home.” She wasn't from round here. She sounded very much like Ben does. Another Brit, this would be fun.

“Ah, the famous James Cassells. Am I right?” I nodded. She must of lived here for a while then. I didn't like where this was going at all. Maybe that was the morning sickness kicking in? “I'm friends with an ex of his.” Fantastic. Just great. Nice one James picking this house. I realised she was now smoking, offering me one before spotting my growing bump. “Same dad as the little girl?”

“Sadly not. Bianca's an ex's per say. This little one inside me is James'” She nodded slowly. I told her I'd see her around and went back inside. I left the back door open due to the heat in this place. I was just sat in the kitchen when I heard that Delia shout.

“Oi Brandi, Cassells is going to be a daddy.” I banged my head lightly off the counter. Did he know she lived next door? God Adriana, that's why she was being so nosy. I mentally slapped myself for being so stupid. How did I not realise this sooner? I shut the back door, locking it and went out the front. Just as I locked the door, I heard her voice.

“Hey, Adriana right? I'm not here to cause trouble, I just wanted to say thanks for making him happy. Just don't hurt him.” I was surprised by this to say the least. I half expected her to scratch my eyes out.

“It's not me hurting him, its the other way round.” I muttered. I didn't think she had heard me, but she did. She didn't seem surprised either. Then it hit me, he didn't cheat on anyone in high school. It was her he cheated on. She gave me a small smile before going back inside her house. I jumped in the car and headed straight for town. I needed some time alone, this was just getting worse and worse.

Turns out you never really know anyone.
