"Sydney! Baby , i'm here i'm here." I ran over to her bed and pushed her hair back and kissed her. I sat down beside her and took her hand. "I'm here everythings going to be okay."
She moved her head slowly and looked up at me, her usual pale blue eyes, black and purple and still bloody.
"T-T-Tony?" she croaked, her voice is barley above a whisper, I moved my face so we are directly in front of each other, nose to nose.
"Yeah?"
She paused and I started to panic as the tears rolled down her face. "What's up?"
"I- I love you, you know that right?" She shut her eyes as if talking was agony.
"Of course I know that! I love you too, you should never forget that!" She opened up her eyes again and nodded then smiled at me. Then I kissed her, something that I have waited to do for ages her lips were warm and bumpy, I was afraid of hurting her, so I sat up.
"I'm going to go and tell the doctors you're better okay? I'll be back in a sec." I walked out and shut the door and just cried. This is horrible, at least when she was asleep, she wasn't in this much pain. I am so relieved to have her back but she is so helpless and I can't do anything to help her.
As promised I went to fetch the doctor and returned to Sydney in a matter of minutes. She was trying to sit herself up but was struggling, I rushed over to help her. I lifted up her fragile body into an upright postion and they just stayed there holding her, I know that if she had gone, I wouldn't be here either.
"You okay baby?" I asked her, she was holding hr eyes tight shut but she nodded.
I sat and watched as the doctor checked her over and explained to her what had happened and what was going to happen, she was going to have to stay here for about another two weeks and then just be on quite a lot of medication. She doesn't even look afraid, she is so damn strong it scares me sometimes.
After the doctor left she just looked at me and laughed. "What?" I asked her.
"Looks like you're not getting any for a couple of weeks!" She laughed again. I just smiled at her. Typical for that to be the first thing she says.
"Where is Jaime, Mike and Vic?" she asked me.
"Erm.. I dunno. They don't know you're awake yet so i'm not sure. I'll ring them." I got my phone out of my pocket and dialled Vic's number. Voicemail. So I tried Jaime. He picked up.
"Dude! What's up?" He seemed happy, well unusually happy for Jaime.
"I just thought you might want to know, thats Syd's awake." I laughed as I heard screaming down the phone.
"For real?! Oh that's great, I'll come down in a while, i've just got something to sort first. I'll see ya later."
"Oh Jaime wheres Vic? I tried him but he didn't pick up."
"Oh he's sleeping, I did the phone though, i'll wake him up and bring him with me and Mike if I can find him." He laughed and we said bye.
"They're gonna come and see you later, well if Vic wakes up and if Jaime can find Mike."
At least that made her smile. Then She stooped and looked at me.
"Tony, I have something to ask you." She suddenly sounded serious. I moved closer to her, but I didn't take her hand 'cause something tells me that this was something to do with us.
I looked at her waiting for her to finish.
"I don't wan-" She started to cry. "I don't want you to waste your time on me, i'm going to be here for ages and you deserve so mcuh better. I don't think we should do this." What?! Is this happening? This time I got as close as I could and took her hand, she couldn't even look at me, she had tears running down her face.
"Baby, don't do this! I love you more than anything, you will always be worth it! I'm not wasting me time on you, every minute I spend with you is heaven, please please don't do this." My tears began to flow now.
"I don't want to burden you, Tony. I love you so much and I am so lucky to have shared with you what I have, it's not that I don't want this and everything we have, I don't want to ruin your life." I can't actually believe i'm hearing this. I'm not loosing her.
She slowly moved her hand to place it on mine.
"Don't let me ruin you."
"I won't. I won't I promise. Don't you dare do that to me again!"
"Promise"
