Vic POV

Today my parents are coming to have a barbecue with Mike, Jaime and I. I'm really hoping that this will bring up my mood a bit. It's been a week since I last spoke to anyone. And the last conversation I had was with Mike, and we were talking about the barbecue.
Mike and I are going to go buy some stuff for the barbecue today before our parents come. This is going to be the first time I've left the house since the last time I saw Carlee.. We climbed into the car and Mike pulled out of the driveway.

"Hey.. if it isn't too much trouble, can we go visit Carlee for a little while?" I asked, awkwardly. It was pretty much the first thing I've said to him for over a month. He looked at me with a happy expression.

"Yeah, that's fine." he smiled. He must be happy I was talking again.

Don't get used to it, I thought.

We sat in silence as we drove to the hospital. I didn't know how I was going to take it, I haven't seen her in a month, and the way I was going to see her wasn't the way I wanted to see her. She was just going to be laying there. Looking.. dead. I just wanted to see her alive one more time. I wanted to see her happy one more time.. and I'd be fine. But that's not going to happen unless she comes back..

We pulled into the driveway and Mike parked into the spot closest to the hospital. We got out and made our way inside to be greeted by the person at the front desk.

"Hello, how can I help you?" she asked, a smile on her face.

"Um, can we visit Carlee Devore please?" I asked. Her smile faded away and she gave me a confused look.

"Okay, hold on." she said, typing something into the computer. "I'm sorry, but it looks like she isn't here anymore."

My heart shattered into pieces. My body went completely weak and I felt like I was about to pass out. I held onto the counter to support my body that was about to give out on me. I felt tears start to form in my eyes when she started to speak again.

"No! Not like that! She checked out about a week ago." she smiled. "She woke up from her coma and her family took custody of her."

I could feel my body again. My heart started beating about a thousand miles. I felt so happy I could cry. And I did.

"Why are you crying, Vic? She's alive!" Mike smiled.

"Because I'm so fucking happy." I cried. The nurse coughed a bit and I realized my language probably offended her a bit. "Oh, I'm sorry ma'am. I'm just extremely happy." I smiled.

"Who took custody of her, though?" I asked. She didn't have any family left besides her grandparents, and she said she hasn't talked to them for 2 years. So I was confused to say the least.

"Her parents." she smiled.

I nodded and grabbed Mike, hurrying out of the hospital. We got into the car and he gave me a confused expression.

"Why did you rush out of there?" he asked.

"Because this isn't right.. her parents are dead." I mumbled.

"I'm sure it was her grandparents and the lady thought they were her parents. Don't think much of it, just be happy she's okay. Okay?" he smiled. I nodded and we headed towards the store to pick up all of the stuff for the barbecue.

"Hey! Mom and dad are on their way. Will you get all of the chips and shit set up while I go and get Jaime?" Mike asked. We were on the phone.

"Yeah, sure. Where did you even put all of it?" I asked.

"In my room." he laughed.

"Okay, see you here then." I said.

I walked into his room and grabbed all of the stuff. I walked back downstairs and set it up on the counters.

I was really hoping this barbecue would help me feel better, I definitely needed this.

so, this is super short, but omfg i have a really good idea for the next chapter.
you guys can probably guess what's going to happen. but yeah. enjoy and the next chapter will either be up later tonight or tomorrow :)
