Can You Tell From the Look In Her Eyes?

Your Hands Still Catch the Light the Right Way and Our Hearts Still Beat the Same

I woke up the next morning wrapped up in someone's tanned, muscular arms and my heart started beating a little faster. I soon realized it was Vic and not Jaime, and frowned, untangling myself. Vic grunted and sat up, rubbing his eyes.

"Goodmorning, Victor," I smirked, walking to the kitchen to grab some water.

"Morning, Carter Anne," he gave me a tired smile. HIs morning voice was pretty hot. Now I know why Kathy likes him so much.

"What happened last night?" I yawned, turning to face him and unscrewing my water bottle lid.

"Well, you were so scared by the movie that you started crying. So you said, "Vicky. You're so strong and handsome! Will you cuddle with me to keep away the big bad monsters?"

I rolled my eyes and grinned. "Uh huh... Because that sounds so much like me."

"Nah. You fell asleep on me and I couldn't wake you up," he chuckled.

"Sounds more like it," I winked, taking a sip of my water.

"You know, I haven't seen you eat any real food in a few days..." he looked at me with concern.

"Vic, I'm fine. It's just a cold and I'll be better soon," I reassured him.

"Yeah. Okay..." He eyed me warily, then turned to the TV.

"YO YO YO! HOW'S MY SHORTY CARTER!" Tony yelled, coming and ruffling my hair.

I giggled, "I'm fine, Tone. Nice Mike impression, by the way."

"Thanks," he beamed.

"That is NOT what I sound like!" Mike argued from the back.

"YEAH IT IS!" Tony and I yelled in unison.

We got silence as our reply and grinned at each other. Tony winked then sat down on the couch. I saw Vic whisper something into his ear and then ever-so-subtly nod his head towards me.

"HEY GUYS!" Tony yelled. "WE'RE TAKING CARTER TO THE MOST UNHEALTHY FOOD JOINT WE CAN FIND. WANNA COME?!"

"Hell yeah!" Mike yelled. Vic and Tony grinned at me wickedly.

"Go put on your sweatpants. We're gonna put some meat on your bones," Vic wiggled his eyebrows.

"I love boning meat!" Mike yelled. We all chuckled. Classic Mike...

I pulled my hair up. I hadn't been having much luck with it lately. It's been really frizzy and I'd had more strands falling out than normal. I was kind of dizzy if I stood up to quickly, but it couldn't have been that I was dehydrated. I put on a bit of makeup to hide the bags that were growing under my eyes, then I pulled on a pair of skinny jeans and a tshirt. (http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=88630202) I looked in the mirror and was somewhat satisfied for once. I was definitely slimming down a bit.

I walked back into the front lounge with a fake smile plastered on my face.

"Jaime's not coming," Vic said sympathetically.

"Of course he's not," I mumbled as we got off the bus.

After hailing a cab and getting driven to McAllister's Deli and being mobbed by fans the minutes we stepped out, we made our way to the register.

All the boys ordered, but when I opened my mouth to order, Vic clapped his hand over my mouth and spoke instead.

"She'll have the french dip, a chocolate chip cookie, and a Sprite," He stated.

Then, we sat down at one of the few open booths and waited on out food. Our meal was somewhat silent, because the boys were watching me out of the corners of their eyes to make sure I ate. I cleaned my plate just to make sure they were happy, but to be honest, the minute I'm alone I'll puke it all back up. I'm not used having that much food in my stomach.

"Oksy, boys," I began opening a text from Matt. "We need to be back there at 2:00 for an interview and your set's at 4:30. We'd better get going," I said, noticing that it was already 1:05. That meant we'd have about a half an hour once we got back to get them to their interview.

After arriving back at the bus, the boys changed out of their grease spattered shirts and into some nice, clean clothes for the interview. They all headed out early because they had to "go check on the merch". I knew they were up to something.

I then remembered how much fat I had eaten and felt the bile rising up in my throat. I ran to the closet we called a bathroom and puked into the toilet. I felt a pair of hands hold my hair back as I emptied my stomach of that godawful food.

"Are you okay?" Jaime asked quietly as I stood up to brush my teeth.

"Yeah. I've just got a cold and the guys forced me to eat a bunch of junk food..." I sighed.

"Well, you are getting awfully skinny, Carter. I mean, you're still very pretty. Not that you're any less pretty. You weren't any less pretty then, either. You're-" He rambled on with red cheeks.

"Jaime. I know what you mean. It's fine," I said, leaving the bathroom and Jaime.

I crawled into my bunk and tried not to cry. I still loved Jaime, but I couldn't look at him without remembering that day on the beach...

"Look, Carter," Jaime sighed, pulling open the curtain to my bunk. "I fucked up really bad. I should've told you. I mean, you hurt me, too. I guess it's kind of even-"

"IT IS NOT EVEN!" I screamed. "I felt awful for what I did with David. I went there with Mike with every intention of telling you and begging for forgiveness. You fucked some random girl whose last name you didn't even know. You and I both know you weren't going to tell me. Get the fuck out of here, Jaime! WE ARE NOT FUCKING EVEN!" I sobbed. I yanked my curtain closed again.

Jaime mumbled sorry and then I heard retreating footsteps, then the bus door slamming.

He had the nerve to come in here and say we were EVEN?! THAT ASSHAT!

I dug my phone out from under my pillow.

"Gavin, will you come pick me up?"

"Sure thing, sweetheart."

In just under three minutes he showed up at my doorstep and carried me to his bus. He sat me down on the sofa, handed me a Hershey bar, and some tissues, then sat down on the opposite sofa with a notebook pretending to be a therapist.

I laughed at his silliness. "Gavin, I'm not that fucked up!"

"Eh. Agree to disagree," he shrugged. Then, he winked, set the notepad back down, and sat next to me with his hand on my right knee.

"Who's ass do I need to kick and what color hair dye do you want?" He grinned.

"Everyone's and bleach blonde," I half-smiled. For some reason, dying my hair made me feel better, but it didn't make it any better. I finally decided to go back to my good old bleach blonde, then maybe, I'd be back to my good old self.

"Okay. Logan'll be here with the hair dye in 20 minutes. So, you have that long to tell me what the asshats did this time," he smiled and kissed my hand.

"Well..." I began. "It started when they took me out for greasy-ass junk food..."
