What's So Good About Picking Up the Pieces?

Chapter Twenty.

Lyla's P.O.V:

It had been a week since that night with Vic; one long, crazy, busy, hectic, tiring week. I had been working my ass off taking, editing, and developing pictures of the band trying to get some of them ready to be published.

Unfortunately, Vic and I hadn't been able to spend much time together. Vic was busy pretty much 24/7 anymore; between signings, interviews, and shows he hardly had any free time. It sucked but we were figuring out ways to make it work.

We decided to take things slow......really slow. That was more my decision, but thankfully he went along with it. I know we had already slept together that one night, and we had all that history, but I was determined not to mess this up. I was treating it like it was something brand new, and in a way it was. With the amount of time that had passed we had a lot of catching up to do, a lot of things to learn about each other, but I was loving every minute of it.

I heard a loud banging on the door of the bus, waking me from my sleep, and I groaned loudly. I laid there for a while hoping whoever it was would go away, but no; the knocking continued, getting louder and louder. I got up and stomped towards the door still in my pajamas-a pair of black, spandex shorts and a sports bra. I didn't even care at this point; I was prepared to yell at whoever it was and make them leave so I could go back to sleep. I finally had a day off to relax, and I couldn't even do that. I forced the door open to see Vic standing outside eating a donut.

"Woah. Nice hair," he said, his mouth full. I flipped him off and left the door open as I walked to the couch and grabbed a blanket, wrapping it around me before collapsing face down on the couch. I heard Vic enter the bus and shut the door behind him. Moments later I felt him sit down on top of my back, kicking his feet against the bottom of the couch.

"What?" I grumbled and I felt him pat the back of my head.

"Get up!" He said a little louder than I would've liked.

"Nooooooo," I groaned, my face still pressed into the leather couch.

"Please?" He said, his mouth full of pastry once again.

"Nooooo," I groaned once again. "I'm tired."

"It's 12:30, Lyla," he stated as if he thought that would change my mind. It wouldn't. I didn't respond to him, I just laid there until he started bouncing up and down on my back like a little kid.

"Ugggh, Vic. I'm tired," I whined and I heard him laugh a little. "This is not funny," I responded to his laughter, only causing him to laugh even harder.

"It's kinda funny," he replied and I felt myself smile a little.

"Fine. I'll get up if you get off of me," I said and he obliged, jumping off of me onto the floor and walking over to the sink in the kitchen area to wash the frosting off of his hands. I took the opportunity to jump up and run off to the bathroom, shutting myself inside.

"Ruuuudddee!" Vic drug out the word in a girly voice and I giggled. "What are you doing in there, my love?" he asked as he scratched at the door.

"I'm fixing this hair!" I responded as I looked in the mirror and gasped at the monstrosity before me.

"Don't. It's cute," Vic said as he continued to scratch and knock at the door.

"Liar." I smiled to myself as I put my hair up in a ponytail and brushed my teeth. I could no longer hear Vic at the door so I opened it and walked over to my suitcase to find some clothes. I grabbed a shirt and a pair of shorts and turned to walk back to the bathroom but a pair of arms reached out and pulled into my bunk. I shrieked a little as I fell down on top of Vic and he wrapped his arms around me not letting me up. "What're you doing? I need to get dressed if you're going to make me get up," I said shaking my head as I looked down at him.

"No. I like what you're wearing now." He bit his bottom lip and I arched my eyebrow.

"Oh is that so?" I questioned in a sexy voice. He shook his head before colliding our lips together, his arms still holding me closely against him. I kissed him back, our lips moving quickly with each other, and I moved out of his hold so I was straddling his waist. I leaned over and put my hands on his face and moved my tongue into his mouth, his hands moving over my bare sides and back.

"LY-LA!!!" Alan yelled in a sing-song voice as he entered the bus loudly. I opened my eyes and sat up quickly, smacking my head on the bunk above me.

"OWWW, Fuck!" I yelled as I grabbed the back of my head and fell off of Vic and landed on the bed next to him. Vic started laughing at me as I cursed under my breath and rubbed my head. "Owww, that hurt!" Alan walked over to the bunk.

"You hurting my girl, Fuentes?" Alan asked, giving Vic a dirty look. I giggled a little bit and then winced again as the pain came back. Vic laughed and flipped him off.

"What do you want, ginger," I whined, still in pain.

"Nothing. I just came to get my phone, I forgot it earlier, and I thought I'd wake you, but I see someone beat me to the punch," Alan replied as he walked to his bunk and reached in grabbing his phone. He turned to walk out. "Use a condom, you two! We don't need any little Lyla's running around here anytime soon," he laughed at himself and slammed the door shut behind him.

"You okay, baby?" Vic asked, still laughing a little, and I pouted my bottom lip at him as I rubbed my head once more. He scooted closer to me and sat up and kissed the top of my head. "Better?" he asked as he smiled at me. I nodded and pushed him back down and resumed my position on top of him, moving my lips to his neck and kissing. Vic moaned quietly and I smiled against his warm skin before biting it softly. I heard ringing coming from Vic's pocket and I sat up, still on top of him, and gave him a mean glare.

"I give up!" I hollered as I pushed myself off of him and out of the bunk, walking off to get dressed as he answered his phone. I changed my clothes and began to put on a little makeup. Vic appeared in the doorway of the tiny bathroom, leaning against the door frame causually.

"Our signing got moved up. Wanna come with me?" he asked as he gave me a big, cheesy grin. I put the tube of mascara back in my makeup bag and turned to him.

"Of course," I said before kissing him quickly and pushing past him out of the bathroom. I put on a pair of Vans and my sunglasses before grabbing my phone and my pass.

"Ready?" Vic asked as I walked to the front of the bus where he was standing. I nodded my head and he grabbed my hand, interlacing our fingers, as he led me out of the bus towards the merch tent.

----------

I sat in the back of the tent as they did their meet and greet, occasionally throwing little rocks that I found at the back of Jaime's head. He kept reaching up and scratching at the back of his head everytime I did it, oblivious to the fact that it was me, and I was trying really hard not to laugh. The line began to disappear, and after the last girl walked off I threw a bigger rock at him, and this time he stood up and turned to look at me. I bit down on my lip to hide my laughter and he ran towards me, picking me up and throwing me over his shoulder.

"Put me down Jaime!" I yelled as he ran around with me.

"Apologize for ruining this perfectly beautiful hair-do!" he responded loudly and I laughed.

"Okay, fine. I'm so sorry Mr. Preciado for throwing rocks at your head and messing up your hair." He stopped running and set me down back in front of the tent where Vic, Mike, and Tony were laughing and staring at us questioningly.

"Thank you," he replied before he walked to the back of the tent and grabbed a bottle of water. I walked over in front of Vic.

"Oh My God! You're Vic Fuentes! You're my idol! I love you so much, you're so hott! Can I get your autograph!" I hollered sarcastically and dramatically as I smiled at him. He shook his head at me as he smiled, Tony and Mike laughing loudly behind us.

"Hmmm, how about a kiss instead?" He asked before he pulled me against him and kissed me sweetly. I seperated our lips and hugged him tightly.

"Lyla! Lyla! There you are I've been looking for you!" I turned around, Vic's arms still around my waist to see Tino standing there, panting and out of breath.

"Well, you found me. What's up?" I questioned. He looked at me, an expression on his face that I had never seen before, and I started to get worried.

"It's Austin," he mumbled after he caught his breath and my heart dropped.

"What're you talking about, Tino? What's wrong with Austin?" I practically yelled as I pulled myself away from Vic.

"We-we were just playing and all of a sudden he stopped screaming and he clutched his chest and he just stood there and couldn't breathe. Lyla, it's his heart," those last three words sounded far away as my mind began to race. This couldn't be real.

I took off sprinting as fast as I could towards the stage, Tino, Vic, and the other's following behind me. I could feel tears welling up in my eyes as I ran.

No. This could not be happening.
