We Found Each Other In The Dark

As Much As I Ever Could

"Do you, Olivia Rose Mendoza, take, Vic Fuentes, to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?" The ordained minister dressed in black asked me.

Without a doubt, I smiled replying staring into my lovers dark brown eyes, "I do."

He smirked and winked at me, holding both of my hands.

"With the power vested in me, on behalf of the State of California, I now pronounce you, husband and wife. Mr. Fuentes, you may kiss your bride."

Vic came closer to me and planted a passionate kiss upon my lips. I gave him one in return and we pulled apart, smiling bigger than we've ever had in your lives. He grabbed my hand and intertwined it with his and we faced a venue of our families. I looked over at my now brother-in-law Mike and he shot me a smile. Everyone was so happy, it was shining off of them. Vic and I walked out of the main room and once we reached the hallway, he cupped my face and kissed my lips.

"I love you, Livvy."

"I love you too, Vic."

"'Til death do us part." He whispered before kissing me once more.

I sat up in my bed with my heart beating at an accelerated rate. I hated having dreams of our wedding. It ruined my entire night. I collapsed back down onto my bed my quickly shut my eyes to stop them from tearing up. I don't know what was getting into my lately. All I kept seeing was him.

My thoughts vanished when Jonah opened the door to my room.

"Mommy?" He asked softly. I saw that he had his favorite stuffed animal; a monkey named Pablo, a stuffed animal that his dad had got him years ago, tucked in his arms.

"Yes baby, what's wrong? Come here." He ran to my bed and I lifted him up onto the mattress. He jumped under the covers and hugged me.

"I had bad dreams again." He frowned.

"Aw, come here." I hugged him and rubbed his back slowly to relax him. "Mommy' had a bad dream, too."

"Really?" He questioned, holding my hand. His breathing was becoming more steady. I smiled to myself knowing that he was calming down.

"Yup! Everyone has bad dreams once in a while. The best part about bad dreams, Jo, is that they end. You wake up and they are over."

"Just like that?"

I snapped my fingers, "Just like that."

He looked up at me and smiled, hugging me tighter. "C'mon, you can sleep with mommy tonight."

Jonah nodded and we both hid under the covers. He hugged Pablo, putting the stuffed monkey in between us, hugging it, and falling asleep. I smiled, wishing it were that easy for me. I wish that the thing that I hugged when I fell asleep were still here.

--

All weekend, Jonah and I ran errands for most of it. Finally on Sunday evening, him and I were packing his bag for his week at his dad's house.

"Mommy, I wear this!" He yelled, throwing me his favorite shirt, which was a Queen shirt. You can already guess who bought that for him.

"Dad's gonna love when you wear that! That's one of daddy's favorite bands, you know?" I spat him this useless information that he didn't understand or care about. He continued to play with his toy trucks and yell at them in a deep voice.

I sighed and folded his close into a tiny suitcase that had dinosaurs on it. He insisted that he had a suitcase for his "cation' at dad's house.

Jonah brought me his black Converse, grey Toms, and red Vans. That boy refused to wear anything but those. It made me happy, though. Because he was 5 and had his own little style figured out. He looked up to his dad and his uncle Mike for style. He always told me, "I want that, uncle Mike has that." I folded a couple little boy cardigans for him and a hoodie or two for the chilly nights.

"Alright, babe. You're all packed. We just need to get your toothbrush and that's it, little dude."

"Yay! I almost ready to see my daddy!" He jumped in the air with his hands up. He was so excited and that made me the happiest girl around.

"Alright, it's time for bed! When you wake up, we're gonna eat some breakfast and then we're gonna take you to your dad's!"

He groaned and slowing made his way to the restroom to brush his teeth. When we was done, he got into his bed and giggled as he covered himself with the blanket. He grabbed Pablo and pretended to sleep once I shut off the lights.

"Goodnight, Jo. I love you." I gave him a kiss on his forehead and tucked him in. I shut his door behind me and went to the kitchen.

Pouring myself a glass of wine was something I did to relax. I never looked to get drunk anymore, like I used too. I sat down in front of the TV and found a movie on Lifetime to watch and take my mind off of things.

--

I fixed the hem of my shirt and took one last look in the mirror before I was gonna leave. My hair had it's natural waves which happened to look it's best today. My natural blonde highlights were hidden underneath my hair; boy was I thankful for those.

I grabbed my bag and walked out of my room to Jonah sitting on the couch with his suitcse and Pablo, of course, ready to go.

"Ready, baby? Let's go!" I clapped, putting the happiest smile on my face. I was gonna be so sad without him for a week.

"Yeah!" He jumped up and grabbed his things and we made our way out of the door, to go eat first, then to drop him off.

--

I pulled up to Vic's house, a nervousness running through me. I clenched onto my cup of iced coffee and killed the engine. I heard Jonah unbuckling his seatbelts to his booster. I got out of the car and went to the backseat to go and help him out. He I grabbe dhis suitcase and he had Pablo, and we got out of the car and walked up to the door.

"Ring the doorbell." I whispered and Jonah nodded, pushing the button.

Seconds later, the door swung open and Vic answered it with a grin, "Hey, little man is finally here!" He dropped down to his knees and Jonah ran to him to give him a hug. I grinned and they pulled apart. Jonah ran inside and Vic looked me with open arms, "Hey, Livvy." I gave him a hug, responding, "Hey, Vic."

"Come in." He said, opening the door wider. I hesitated, but eventually walked in. "You look really, really, nice." He complimented, gesturing to my outfit.

I blushed a little, "Thank you." I looked around the house, noticing how much nice it had gotten in a matter of two years. Man, I missed living here, sometimes. I erased my thoughts, and handed him Jo's suitcase. "He insisted that he get a suitcase for his dad's house."

Jonah was being carried by Mike, whom I didn't even notice was standing right beside me.

"My Liv is here!" He shouted, placing Jonah down on the ground and coming to hug me tightly. "I miss you, dude!"

"I missed you too, Mike." I hugged him back. Once we let go, Jaime came running to me and almost knocked me down.

"Olivia! It is you! I was like, 'Who is that? She looks like Oli, is it Oli?' And, it was you!" He shouted in my ear, hugging me so tight, I felt like my oxygen was gonna cut off. I giggled at all the nicknames they called me.

"Hello to you too, Himes." I grinned, pinching his dimpled cheeks like I always used too.

"Hey, Olivia!" Tony said from behind me, giving me simple hug.

"Want a beer or something?" Mike asked politely.

I shook my head and held up my iced coffee, "I'm good, thank you."

I looked around, waiting for Amy to show up any second, now. Her and I were civil, but she always gave me the dirtiest looks. It was always because I had her man before her. How pathetic.

"She's not here." Vic spoke up, reading my body language. He was holding Pablo and Jonah was fixing Pablo's shoes. "She's in Seattle for the week visiting her family. You have nothing to worry about."

I felt more at ease now, taking a deeper breath and showing a soft smile. He smiled back at me, seeing I had relaxed.

The guys kept talking about the new album and how sick it was gonna be.

"What's it titled?" I asked, curiously.

"Collide With The Sky." Vic answered.

My eyes got bigger, "That sounds intense. I like it!" I grinned, impressed.

"We're gonna be touring like crazy for this, I know it! By the way, those meetings I told you about, we officially got signed to one." Vic added.

"No way? Which one?" I was wondering who would represent them now. It had been Equal Vision for so long.

"Fearless." Jaime answered, sitting next to me.

"You're shitting me? That's so good, guys! Congrats!" I bit my lip and grinned. Fearless was an incredible step up and it proved how hard they worked to get to this point.

Vic scoffed, "You had a better rection then Amy did."

"Huh?" I was confused. Shouldn't she be proud of her boyfriend?

Tony answered, "She was like: 'Fearless? Oh. What about those big time labels or something?'"

My mouth dropped, "She said that?"

"She's a cunt." Mike said. "Jonah don't say that." Jo nodded and played with his toys.

I chuckled at Mike and shrugged. What was I supposed to say about my ex-husband's girlfriend?

"Speaking of you guys touring," I spoke up. "Vic, do you think you'll be here for his birthaday? I was gonna have his party on August 18th."

He nodded, "Yeah! We were thinking of starting up a fall tour in like October. We won't be here for your birthday, but for his, yes."

I lit up, "Oh, good! I was thinking for having a joint party-"

"-Joint party? I'm there." Mike laughed hard and seemed really impressed by his joke.

Vic ignored him and looked at me, "Please continue."

I smirked, "Anyway, I was gonna invite your family and mine and just do it at once. It'll be like a week before school starts and I wanted it to be mid-August, closer to his birthday."

"Yeah, that sounds awesome! I'll tell my mom and dad because they were asking me about that, and I told them I would talk to you."

"I know you'll be busy with the new record and touring and whatnot, so I'll have Alex help me plan it out. You'll just have to tell me who you want to invite. I have all your family's numbers, so if you wanna invite other friends or something, so that way I could send out invitations." I explained. Vic was looking at me intently while I talked, taking in every word I said.

A smile formed on his lips, "I can do that. What kind of theme did he want?"

I rolled my eyes, "Star Wars."

I heard hooping and hollering from behind me and Tony jumped up and shouted, "I'm there. I'm going. That's my boy!" He fist bumped Jonah, making Jo laugh.

Everyone burst out laughing at how stoked Tony was. I knew he was going to react like that, that's why I rolled my eyes.

Mike muttered, "Man, why not a Harry Potter party for your uncle, Jo?"

Jonah shrugged and said matter of factly, "I don't know uncle Mike, I like Star Wars!"

Vic and I looked at one another and laughed. Damn, we made a cute kid.

I looked at the time and stood up, "Alright guys, I gotta go. Vic, please make sure he doesn't stay up late, he has school! And please don't let him miss school, there's only a couple more weeks left." I begged.

"Livvy, I know, I know. He won't miss a day."

"And Mike, no smoking or getting shitfaced around him. And most importantly, no slores, please!"

Mike snickered, "Dude, I wouldn't do that to my nephew, man."

I nodded, "Thank you." I grabbed my bag and said goodbye to Jaime, Tony, and Mike.

I bent down in front of Jonah, "Alright baby, I'm gonna go. Have fun with your daddy and your crazy uncles. Tell your dad to call me if you need me, okay? I love you."

He showed me a toothy grin, "Okay, mommy! I love you, bye!" He hugged me quickly and ran off to play. I wanted to cry because he's only been away from me this long, once.

Vic saw my facial expression and took me to the door, "Hey, it's okay. He's gonna be fine."

I frowned, "I know that he will, but what am I supposed to do without my best friend for a week?"

Vic gave me a soft smile as he saw my eyes water and brought me into a hug, "We can meet up for lunch or dinner or something this week, okay?" He rubbed my back, and to be honest, it felt so good. He hasn't done that in years. "I know it's gonna be hard, but you'll be okay." We pulled apart and he gave me a reassuring smile. "I'll call you everyday, Livvy."

I nodded and pulled myself together. "Thank you, Vic."

He walked me out to my car and waited until I got in. He leaned on my window once I had lowered it, "Don't have too much fun this week." He winked causing me to laugh.

"I'll try not to." He chuckled and waved me off. He stayed outside until I had drove off.

I sighed, looking at the empty car seat in my rearview mirror. I didn't even know what to do for the night, let alone the week. I called Alex and made some plans with her.

This was gonna be a very long week.
