We Found Each Other In The Dark

Cowgirl In The Sand

The sun seeped through the blinds, causing me to open my eyes and a groan escaping my lips. The other side of my bed was untouched, showing me that Vic didn't end up coming to my bed last night. I looked up at the ceiling and groaned some more, as if somebody could hear me and if someone actually cared. I got and went to go brush my teeth and use the restroom. When I got out, I opened my bedroom door and walked out, seeing an empty house. I went in Jonah's room and it was empty as well. When I walked back out of his room, Vic walked in through the door with food and coffee in his arms. He shot me a small smile and walked to the kitchen saying, "Good morning, Liv."

I followed him and sat at the bar stool at the island and said, "Morning."

He smiled and handed me my drink, "Venti Iced Coffee with Vanilla / Classic and Half and Half."

"Thank you, Vic." I took a sip of my coffee and I nearly wanted to fall over it was so perfect. It was exactly how I liked it, and it was obvious that Vic was the only one besides me that knew how I liked it. "Where's Jo?"

"Mike and Frenchi took him out to go eat breakfast." He took the food out of the bags like nothing even happened last night. I kept looking at him, waiting for him to say something. He didn't, so I did. "Can we talk about last night?" I asked after I chewed a swallowed a bite of my food.

He nodded lightly, not saying a word.

"I just need you to see where I'm coming from, babe. You know that I love you and I always have. We have a son together for Christ's sake. I don't see myself being with anybody else." He smiled at me and I continued, "But, you have to see why I'm a little scared. I just don't want this to be ruined because of the same stupid things that ruined us before. You see what I mean? We've been back together for what, a few months? I just want us to relish in what we have, what we have now. Things are so great, and I don't want to put pressure on that with talk about marriage."

He nodded, and smiled. "I get it. I'm sorry that I got upset last night."

I shook my head, "No no, don't apologize. It's fine. We're fine. And, by the way, I would absolutely marry you again, but one day."

His smile turned into a toothy grin, "One day sounds perfect."

I leaned forward and placed a small kiss on his lips.

"Thanks for giving me a goodnight kiss last night." He winked, smirking.

"You were awake!" I exclaimed.

"I was like half awake. That was cute, though."

My nose scrunched up and I couldn't help but smile at him. We continued breakfast and talked among ourselves. Afterwards, we lounged around being lazy and when Jonah got home, we decided to have a movie day and Jonah got to pick all the movies. I wouldn't want it any other way.

--

It's been a month and a half that Vic's been gone on the Collie With The Sky Tour. They are all having the most amazing time. I got to see them when they came home and I was in tears by the end of the show. It just came across me when they played the final song, "King For A Day" and Kellin came out, and there was confetti flying everywhere. It was the greatest thing I've ever seen.

I had been so stressed out at home, though. I can't explain how hard it is for me during the school year and with work. I was about to lose it.

Jonah ran into the house and I followed, carrying bags filled with groceries as my phone rang. I shut the door with my leg and rushed to the counter to put the bags on top of it, digging deep inside my purse for my phone. By the time I found my phone, I can already missed the call from Vic. Jonah was playing and he was shouting at his toys. I took a deep breath and called Vic back.

"Hey baby!" He yelled, happily.

"Hey," I said not as excited as he was. "What's up?"

"What's wrong, Livvy?"

My eyes began to well up, "I'm just so tired. Jonah keeps screaming and he's driving me nuts. Work sucks, I am just stressed out."

"Put him on the phone." He demanded, and I listened, handing Jonah the phone. I could tell that Vic was telling him to behave and Jo's expression turned from happy to sad. "Okay, daddy." He said frowning and giving me the phone back and running to his room.

"Hello?" I said, and Vic chuckled, "Did he cry?"

"No, what'd you tell him?"

"I told him to behave and to not be too crazy for you because you're not feeling well."

"He ran to his room all sad!" I informed him, putting him on speaker and putting the groceries away.

"He'll get over it. Anyway, what about work is stressing you out? Talk to me about your issues, princess."

I smiled softly, "Work just sucks in general. I should've stuck with the salon because it was more fun for me. I hate office jobs!"

"Go back to the salon." He simply answered.

"Pft, yeah right. I lost my touch years ago."

"You could go to a class! You still have your license, Livvy."

My eyebrows furrowed, "I know, but there's no time for that. Then I would have to find a salon to work at! That's hard enough."

"We'll figure it out when I get home, darling."

"I miss you." I frowned once I put the last bit of groceries away.

"I miss you too. Only ten more days, baby! Ten days and I'm back with you at home."

I grabbed my phone and took it off of speaker, holding it up to my ear. I got the pizza that I had picked up on the way home and told Vic to hold on. I went into Jonah's room and he was sitting on the floor quietly playing with his toys.

"Hey babe." I said softly. He turned around and looked at me, his sadness still apparent.

"Want to come eat? The pizza isn't that hot anymore."

He nodded and slowly got up, before he walked past me he stopped and hugged my leg tightly, "Sowwy mommy." He let go and ran into the kitchen. I swear I wanted to cry.

I got the phone back and talked to Vic for a little while longer before we hung up. Ten more days, I said to myself. Only ten more days and things will be a little easier. I put Jonah to bed after I took him a bath, and then took a quick shower myself. I threw on a t-shirt and shorts and watched tv until I went to sleep.

On my nightstand was the same picture of Vic, Jonah, and I at Disneyland a couple years ago. It made me so happy whenever I looked at it. The smiles were real. I grabbed it and admired at how small Jo was. He looked so much like Vic it was crazy. He looked just like him except he was lighter like me. I smiled and placed it back on my nightstand and shut my eyes.

Notes

SORRY THIS IS SO SHORT AND SUCKY AND YEAH BUT NEXT CHAPTER, SOMETHING BIG HAPPENS.

Only about three more chapters left in this story, and then I will begin the sequel to Kissing In Cars. I decided that I would post the link to the sequel in another submission under the Kissing In Cars name.
