Somebody's Supposed To Fall In Love

Stay Away From My Friends

“You’re tanner than I am.” Mike slides the woman in the snack stand a ten-dollar bill and then hands me a soft pretzel.
I roll my eyes and take a bite of the warm pretzel. “Well yeah, you’re awfully pale for a Mexican.”
He scoffs and takes the change, shoving it back into his wallet. “And you’re awfully racist…” Mike then turns back to me and wraps an arm around my bare shoulders. I’m wearing a sleeveless, white crop top, with my favorite pair of ripped jean shorts, aqua vans, and one of Tony’s hats. Mike is currently just wearing a pair of basketball shorts, vans, and a snapback, which is causing a lot of girls to point and stare.
That’s one thing I’ve become accustomed to. People pointing and talking about me, on the Internet or even in person, hardly fazes me anymore. I’ve been on the road with Warped Tour and sleeping with Mike Fuentes for two months now. Yeah, I read the comments on Instagram pictures and some of them are really bitchy and uncalled for, but they’re not going to stop me from wanting to be with these guys. I love all four of them. Of course, I love Mike differently than I love Jaime, but you get the general idea. It just sucks that girls can’t mind their own business and be happy that Mike is finally in a relationship. Oh well, I guess. I can’t please everyone.
But lately, Mike’s just been acting differently. In certain situations, he’s been overly protective. For example, I went over to Sleeping With Sirens’ bus yesterday to meet Katelynne Quinn, and Mike flipped out on Casey, because he was with me. I also went to buy stuff for fajitas with Vic the other night and when we got back, Mike was acting like a douchebag, drilling his brother with pointless questions. I understand that we’re in a relationship and I know he’s protective, but Mike needs to realize that I’m not the kind of girl who cheats. I’ve been cheated on in the past and it just fucking sucks. I could never do it to someone else.
I take another bite of the pretzel and hold it up for him. “You need to eat something! You didn’t have breakfast or lunch…”
He smirks and breaks off a chunk of pretzel. “That’s not true… I technically had breakfast.”
My cheeks go pink and I nudge him away. “You’re disgusting...”
“What?” He trots after me, laughing. “It’s true!” Mike suddenly trips over an extension cord and curses under his breath, before finally catching up to me.
I glance back at him, as I finish the pretzel. “Vic told me that you kept some girl’s phone number at today’s signing…”
“I did no such thing.” Mike lights a cigarette and follows me back to the parking lot. “How would Vic notice, even if I did? I didn’t sit anywhere near him today.”
“Well, I’m just telling you what he told me.”
“And you believe everything that Vic tells you, huh?” He exhales smoke and tilts his head up.
I nod. “Yeah, I do.”
“Why don’t you go suck his dick then? I’m sure you’d both like that.”
My jaw clenches. “What the fuck is your problem? I’m just asking you a question...” He opens the parking lot gate and I stride ahead of him.
“I don’t have a problem… I just… Look at me!” Mike groans and reaches for my arm, spinning me back around to face him. “I didn’t take anyone’s goddamn number!” He yells and tosses the rest of his cigarette onto the asphalt, his eyes angrily searching mine.
“I know you didn’t!” I laugh sarcastically. “But that just proved how jealous you are of Vic.”
His eyebrows rise in confusion. “How does that make me jealous of Vic?”
I cross my arms. “You’re rude to him whenever he’s with me or whenever I talk about him. And it’s not just him… It’s Kellin, Casey, and every other guy I talk to! I mean, half of them are married!”
“Well, Vic is always with you…” Mike fixes the snapback on top of his head. “And I don’t like when you sleep on the couch with him…”
“You are so jealous of him...” I chuckle amusedly. “And that happened like three times when Mikeywhiskeyhands and Jaime were fucking around on the computer and ignoring me...”
“Well, it’s just weird!” He stares at me, unsure of whether to laugh or be annoyed. “He’s my brother and you’re my girlfriend, but you two are touchy as hell!”
“Oh, please… I would never cheat on you. And you’re obviously too stupid to realize that.” Scoffing, I turn away from him, heading toward the bus. “And don’t talk to me like I’m a piece of shit, asshole!”
“I swear to fucking god…” Mike grabs my wrist again and I gasp, trying to yank away from him.
“LET GO!” I yell.
“Oh, Jesus Christ!” He mutters, struggling to keep me still. “YOU’RE SO FUCKING DRAMATIC!”
I finally wriggle out of his grasp and fall backwards, staring up at him with wide eyes. “Who the hell do you think you are?” I stand up quickly, dusting my hands off.
“I’m trying to have a serious conversation and you’re acting like a sarcastic bitch!” He laughs in disbelief.
“No! You’re just high as shit, as always, and throwing a temper tantrum.” I shove him backwards furiously. “Don’t you fucking grab me like that ever again!” Then before he can say anything else, I stride toward the bus and run up the stairs.
Tony, Jaime, Vic, Casey, and Johnny go silent when I storm onto the bus. Tony smiles uneasily. “Hey, sunshi—”
“Shut up!” I mutter, as I stride to the back bedroom and slam the door. Sighing, I flop onto the puffy covers and close my eyes tightly, trying to relax. I shouldn’t have said half of the things I did to him, but he also had no right to grab me. I fell on my ass in front of a parking lot full of people for Christ’s sake!
I rub the palm of my left hand on my shorts, noticing a little bit of dried blood. Then I swat a few tears from under my eyes before they can roll down my cheeks. I always get myself into these fucking situations. The last time I cried, my ex-boyfriend was saying goodbye to me for the last time.

Knock, knock, knock.
My eyes flutter open and I immediately check my phone. It’s ten-seventeen that night. Wow. I didn’t mean to sleep for that long. I exhale and sit up in bed, running my fingers through my long hair. “Who is it…?”
The door opens slowly and Mike peeks his head in, looking at me timidly. “Can I come in?”
“I don’t know…” I lie down again and pull the covers up to my shoulders. “Are you high?”
He leans against the door. “No, ma’am.”
“Drunk?”
“Nope.”
“If you must.” I look over, watching as he crawls into the cold covers.
Mike rests his head on the pillow and sighs, staring at me. “I don’t deserve someone as perfect as you, and I know you realize that.”
“Don’t say that...” I reach over, touching my fingertips to his face.
“Why not?” He asks quietly. “It’s true, Lana... I drink too much, I’m always smoking…”
“I do the same things, so I can’t get mad at you for that.” I murmur, still stroking his cheeks.
“I just don’t want you to wake up one morning and realize how terrible I am, and how you could be with someone much more normal.”
Smiling faintly, I wiggle closer to him. “What the hell does normal mean anyway? I can tell you everything, we have fun, and I love you. That’s all I care about.”
Mike wraps his long arms around my body. “I apologized to Vic…and if I ever touch you like that again, I’ll call the cops on myself.”
I sigh. “It just scared me… I didn’t expect you to get so mad.”
“I’m so sorry…” Mike gently rubs my arm.
I feel tears rising in my eyes again as I breathe out shakily. “N-No! I’m sorry…”
“Why? You literally have every right to leave right now... I wouldn’t blame you if you did.”
“No! How could I leave if I love you...” I kiss his neck. “No one can compete with… Well, no one can compete with whatever you are.”
He laughs and pulls away. “You are so good at giving compliments, did you know that?”
“Yes!” I giggle and climb on top of him.
Mike holds onto my hips, smiling happily. “To apologize… I might’ve went a tad overboard…but I got us tickets for Universal Studios.”
My eyes widen as he stares up at me. “Baby… They’re like two hundred dollars! You didn’t have to spend that much money…”
“I didn’t have to, but we’re in Orlando tomorrow. And since you put up with all my shit... I figured you could use a Butterbeer.” He rubs my hips gently. “As soon as we’re done tomorrow, we’ll drive to Universal and head right for Harry Potter World, okay?”
I squeal happily and wrap my arms around his neck. “You’re the best…”
Mike smiles and rolls over, still holding onto me. He nestles his face into my neck and kisses me gently, the piercing in the center of his lip, cold against my skin. “My little Lana bear…”
Hearing Mike call me that is strangely comforting. I feel safe; because that’s what Gemma calls me. That name reminds me of home. Sighing, I close my eyes and hug Mike’s body as tight as I comfortably can.
I think it’s safe to say that I’m not angry anymore.
