Depth Perception

My green eyes snapped open to the sound of my phone ringing loudly. After all this time of having it, you'd think I'd change the sound of that annoying ringtone. I mumbled a few curse words under my breath and stayed bundled under the blankets as I reached over to my night table to grab my phone that was still ringing.

My name is Raxella Hudson, or soon to be Raxella Perry. I'm 26 years old, 27 on December 30th which is in about a month from now. I'm an event photographer which requires me to go all around the world, hang out with some pretty cool people and bands. I now make $16 an hour doing what I love the most. Back in June earlier this year, my boss John wanted me to go on tour with my favorite band of all time, Pierce the Veil - in Europe for a month. Of course I said yes and it was amazing. I took lots of cool photos and fell in love with the guitarist... and he fell in love with me too. He's now my fiancé and we live together at my place in San Diego, California.

I heard groaning behind me and I felt warm skin touch mine as a heavily tattooed arm wrapped around me. I shivered, feeling lips gently kiss the back of my neck. Ugh, Tony. Stop it.

"Hmm... baby, who's calling?" Tony whispered in his adorable morning voice I could never get over.

That's Tony Perry, the pretty amazing guitarist from a band called Pierce the Veil. You may have heard of them. After the month I photographed for their tour, they had a homecoming show here in SD, where Vic brought me up on stage to sing for me, but little did I know at the time that it was all an elaborate plan for Tony to propose to me until he was down on one knee with a ring.

My eyes focused on the phone screen to see it was my friend Trista calling. I sighed a bit and wondered what she wanted this early in the morning.

"It's Trista." I clicked to answer the call. "Hello?"

"Hey, Rax? What are you doing?" she asked. Oh, I don't know... sleeping like a normal person at 6am.

"Tony and I were sleeping." I mumbled as I rested my head back onto my pillow. I felt Tony pull me closer to his body under the blankets. He was so warm.

"Get out of bed. I have something important to tell you." she said in a hushed tone.

Trista is my best friend. We've known each other for over 10 years and we like all the same music and have the same taste in guys, mostly. She ended up hitting it off with Mike Fuentes, the drummer for Pierce the Veil. He asked her out and she pretty much went ballistic. In a good way. They've been dating as long as Tony and I have been and Mike rarely leaves her house. Things were going good for them, so why was she bugging me so early in the morning? The only thing I could think of would be guy problems...

"Bitch, it's 6 in the morning, the floor is cold and I am sleeping with my half naked, sexy fiancé. I swear, if Mike did something stupid, I'm going to kick his a-" I tried to argue.

"Out. Of. Bed. Now." she demanded from the other side of the phone. I knew not to mess with her when she had that tone.

"Okay, okay. Fuck." I growled as I forced myself to get up from my warm bed. I was wearing one of Tony's shirts as usual and some black sleep shorts. It was always cold in the mornings, so I took one of the top blankets with me and wrapped it around myself. I heard Tony whine as he let go of me. I began walking towards my bathroom, the tiles cold on my feet. I closed the door and turned, sitting on the edge of my tub and pulling the blanket over my shoulders. I let out a sigh and finally answered as I knew we were alone. "Okay, what is so important at 6 in the morning?"

I could almost hear her chewing her nails on the other end. Always a bad habit of hers. "You promise you can't freak out, okay?"

I rolled my eyes. "Well, obviously you're freaking out about something, so I'm ready to freak out ab-" I couldn't even finish my sentence before she interrupted me again.

"I think I'm pregnant." she said abruptly.

I didn't even blink because I was so shocked. "Um... I'm sorry. Can you say that again?"

"Can I be anymore clear, Rax?" Trista began to get irritated.

I sat still and stared at the white tile floor. Hundreds of thoughts going through my head all at the same time.

"Well, have you told Mike yet? Have you taken a test?" I asked.

"I haven't told him and I was going to ask you to come with me to get a test..." She actually sounded scared.

I nodded. "Alright. I'll come get you. Lemme just put on some pants and I'll be right there."

"See you in a bit." she sighed.

"See ya."

We hung up. I sat there for a moment, still thinking. I couldn't tell Tony or anyone. What if she was pregnant? How would Mike react? How would everyone react? Would they keep it?

I stood from the spot I sat on and walked towards the door and opened it. I gasped as Tony stood there with his hand up as if he were going to knock on the door. He lowered his hand and rubbed his eyes a bit and saw me. He was shirtless, showing off all of his upper body tattoos. Ugh...

"Oh, hey Raxxy. Everything okay?" he asked with still a bit of morning voice and that cute little smile on his lips.

I smiled back and leaned forward into his body to hug him. "Yeah, Trista just wanted to hang out today, so I'm going to get ready and head over."

His arm wrapped around me over my shoulder as he kissed the top of my head. "Okay, baby."

I still couldn't get over the fact that he was mine. I don't think I ever would. I felt his free hand wander down to my hand as I felt his fingers gently caress my skin and he played with the little white gold ring on my finger which he had proposed to me with a few months ago. I felt my cheeks turn red as I blushed into his chest.

We let go of each other and he patted my shoulder gently as he smiled at me and then we parted ways.

All eventful days start off with an early morning wake up call.
