My mind raged with excuses I could make up for my mom not being there.

I jumped to the first one- saying she was dead.

"My parents are dead," I explained to the doctor, "My dad died a while ago and my mom died a week ago. I've been living with Vic since she died. I'll only be living with him until I can move out into my apartment."
The doctor shook his head, "According to this sheet, she's alive and well. And if she was dead, the hospital would've been notified."

"But, she just died. I haven't told anyone yet because she had.......drugs......in her system when she died," I 'explained' to him.

"Oh," was all the doctor said.
"Well," he continued, "I guess Vic can sign you out. But, only this once." I heard a sigh of relief escape Vic's lungs. I felt the anxiety slip away slowly.
The doctor turned to Vic and whispered something to him. I heard something about me and hospital bills, so I knew to just stay out of it. I felt bad for leaving the burden of both taking care of me and paying the bills. But, at the current point in time, I had no money. Reminder- get a job when I get out and recover.

The doctor left, leaving Vic, Dani, and I alone in the room.

I was the first to react.

I sighed, and put my head in my hands. Vic stared at his feet, and Dani said her goodbyes and left to go home. Vic stood at the side of my bed, staring at the bed sheets.

'I bet he's just thinking,' I thought to myself.

"Vic..." I said. He was still very focused on the bed sheets.
"Vic." Nothing.
"Vic!" His head snapped up, his eyes instantly locking with mine.
"What's up, Lydia?" He said.
"I'm sorry," I said.
"For what?"
"Everything."
"Lydia," he said, "Don't be. You've done nothing wrong."
"I have done something wrong," I countered. "I existed."
"Don't say that," Vic said softly. "You're so cool. You're one of the coolest people I've ever met." There was a moment of silence before I spoke again.

"Sure." My voice was layered with sarcasm.
"Seriously," Vic said, "You're so cool."
"Prove it."
"Okay," he said, "I'm gonna list every reason why you're so cool."
He faked clearing his throat, then started to list things.

"You're funny, you have a good taste in music, you're layed back, you're productive, you're pretty, you're so nice, and you're one of the coolest people ever."

"Thanks, but none of those things are true. Especially the ones about me being nice and pretty." Vic sighed, shaking his head.
"Lydia, I can tell you the truth, and you still wouldn't believe me. Just like I did."

A while later, Vic had paid the hospital bill and we were on the way home.

"Vic?" I asked.
"Yeah?"
"I'll pay you back when I can, okay?"
"Lydia, you don't have to pay me back."
"But I am anyways," I said.
"You're so stubborn," Vic said.
I laughed, "I know."

I was finally home. Well, to a place that was more of a 'home' than the other place I had lived before. When we arrived, the house was completely dark and empty. Usually Tony, Jaime, Mike, Danielle, Erin, Mike's girlfriend, and Jaime's girlfriend were here watching TV on the couch in the main room.
But, there was no one.

I went into the kitchen to go get something to eat, but I was almost scared to death when everybody, including Vic and Kaylee, when they jumped out and screamed, "WELCOME HOME!"

I smiled and laughed.
Everyone came up to me and wrapped me in what was probably the biggest bear-hug in all of history. Or, well, it was to us. First thing I did after that, though, was retrieve Kaylee from Tony, who was holding her. She barked and wagged her tail in my arms. I caressed her in my arms and stroked her soft, dark brown fur. Everything was back to normal.

"Vic," I heard Danielle say to me.
"What's up, Danielle?"
"I need to talk to you. Outside." I shrugged and followed her outside.
"Vic, listen..." She said. "It's just....not working out."
Worry fell over my face. I hoped she didn't mean what I thought she meant.
"What's not working out?"
"Vic, are you that fucking dumb? I knew you were dumb, but I didn't think you were that dumb. I'm breaking up with you."

Notes

So, I'll still update here, but I'm not gonna be on here all the time.

Also, I have nothing against Danielle, but I've had this planned out for a while.
