Your Wish is My Command

Chapter One

“Biddi biddi bom bom,
Biddi biddi bom bom,
Cada vez, cada vez que lo veo pasar,
Mi corazo se enloquece,
Y me empieza a palpitar-“
“No, no, no. Selena you’re not putting emotion into this. Imagine meeting your true love, imagine how that would feel.”
I sighed and stepped out of the recording booth.
“I’m trying but it’s kind of hard when I haven’t yet. I’m only 14, do you think I already know what it feels like?”
I sat down in a chair across the room, running my hands threw my hair as I sighed. I was exhausted and I didn’t feel good. I’ve been here since 8 this morning and now it’s 3 in the afternoon and we are still recording Biddi Biddi Bom Bom, I don’t know why we can’t take a break from that song and do another.
“Selena, one more take and please try to incorporate the emotion into it.”
I looked up at my manager and quickly shook my head.
“No, maybe tomorrow. I’m tired and I have to finish sketches by tomorrow. I’ll practice tonight and call you tomorrow.”
As I began walking towards the door, my phone from the inside of my pocket began to ring and buzz. I looked at the caller ID. It was Uncle Vic.
“Hello?”
“Good, thank God you picked up. Me, your Uncle and your parents are in a crisis.”
“Why? What’s going on?”
“Can you watch your siblings and cousins tonight?”
He said. I couldn’t help but laugh. That was the big crisis?
“Of course, you don’t need to ask me. Can you see if Jaime or one of you guys can come pick me up from the studio?”
I sat down on the curb in front of the building, looking around. I sighed in relief. No fans running at me at all sides. I love my fans and my career, but it goes so overwhelming at times.
“Yeah, I think Tony is on his way now.”
Uncle Vic replied.
“Alright thanks.”
I hung up and waited. It was early spring, even though it felt like Summer. It constantly feels like Summer here in California.
“Hey stranger.”
A voice said beside me. I looked over to see my cousin, Christian. He had his skateboard in one hand and a monster in the other. I smiled. I haven’t seen him in years ever since my Aunt and her husband mysteriously disappeared and he was sent to live in Pennsylvania
“Hey, how’s you get here?”
I stood up and hugged him. He hugged back, rubbing my back and pulled away after a few moments.
“School is let out for a while so my girlfriend and I decided to come here and see the rest of the family.”
“Oohh, who’s your girlfriend?’
I giggled and poked his shoulder.
“Her name is Vaslisa. Her family is of Romanian culture, she’s royalty I guess.”
Christian said. He shrugged and rubbed the back of his neck.
“Can I ask how?”
“I don’t know. I think her dad was supposed to become King but he left for America and created his own business.”
We both looked over to see the black and red jeep (Dad’s choice) pull up beside us. The window rolled down revealing my mom.
“Hey Christian! How’s it going?”
Mom asked. I walked over to the car and got into the passenger side. Suzie was in the back, asleep. She is always exhausted after school.
“Oh ya know, school and working.”
He said. I smiled as he took a drink from his monster.
“Do you want to come over while you’re still in town?”
“Yeah probably. I’ll talk to Lisa about it. I’m supposed to meet her at the park soon.”
Christian looked at his phone and shrugged.
“Come over anytime. We still live in the same place.”
Mom said. Christian nodded.
“Will do.”
He said before skating off. I put my seat belt on and fixed my hair.
“Who’s Lisa?”
Mom asked, turning to me as he turned up the air conditioner a little.
“His girlfriend. They are here for vacation until there school starts back up again.”
“What school ends at the start of Spring? Usually schools in Pennsylvania don’t end until next season.”
He said as he began driving again. I shrugged.
“I don’t know. Maybe he goes to a special school or does online classes.”
But what kind of school would Christian go to? A private school?
“Well either way, I’m glad that he’s in town.”
We drove for a little while around town. Mom stopped at a pizzeria to pick up something for dinner for me and my siblings. As we arrived home, I got a text. I looked down to see who it was.
Anonymous: Stay away from Christian. He isn’t who he was 5 years ago. He’s dangerous.
I stared at the text before deleting it. How did an anonymous number get my cell number? Probably some fan leaked it. But how do they know my cousin? What do they mean he’s dangerous and not the same? He seemed the same as he’s always been. I sighed and shut off my phone. I walked inside to see my dad, my uncles and some stranger.
“Selena, this is Eddie. He is your new body guard.”
Dad said.
“Oh hi there.”
I said and put my phone in my pocket. He walked over and shook my hand.
“Hello…”
Eddie looked at me in thought before shaking his head.
“Well, we’re going to go to the movies and then dinner and some drinks.”
Dad said. He walked out the door followed by Uncle Vic and Kellin. Mom stayed behind for a minute.
“Little one’s should be in bed by 8:30 sharp. Selena you have tutoring at 9:00 and you need to finish those sketches.”
He said, grabbing his and dad’s sweatshirts.
“I’ll make sure she gets all of that done.”
Eddie said. I looked over at him and nodded.
“Yeah what he said.”
I replied. Mom smiled and walked out the door. This should be interesting. I’m alone with a stranger for the rest of the night. What could go wrong?
