This is The Street Youth Rising Up
Bright Idea
I gained consciousness and Tony and Jaime sat me up.
“Are you okay, Abbey?” Tony asked?
“Fine.” I replied, grabbing my head.
“What were you thinking?” He asked me.
I looked at him. He was dripping wet and so was I.
“I wasn't.” I replied. “I had the ability to love. And it hurt me.”
“Had?” He asked me.
“I feel numb now.” I told him, getting up and wringing my shirt out.
“I just need to go home.” I said, running to my house, my parents asked why I was wet and not in school.
“Because the guy I like kissed another girl and I tried to kill myself. Does that answer your question?” I yelled at them.
They looked concerned as I turned my back, walking into my bedroom. I hoped to go to sleep and never wake up, and just dream forever. I covered myself in my sheets and fell asleep, and woke up not knowing if it was night or day.
“Screw it.” I said, plopping my head back onto the pillow.
My parents came in.
“Abbey?” My mom said.
“What do you want?” I mumbled.
“Dinner's ready.” She said with a soft voice.
“Since when do you care?” I asked her.
She was silent for a moment.
“You need to eat.” My dad said.
I got up and went into the dining room with them, and had the most awkward meal of my life. When I got back into my room, I turned on some music, the usual Green Day. I started playing my guitar and made a new song.
“I should be in a band.” I told myself.
I practiced the song I just made and wrote a few lyrics to it.
“Perfect.” I said, calling Tony.
“Hey, are you feeling better?” He asked me.
“Much better. Do you want to be in a band?” I asked him.
“What?” He replied with a chuckle.
“You heard me.” I said.
“Um, sure, let me ask Jaime what he thinks about it.” He said, hanging up.
I practiced the song I wrote some more.
