Where Do We Go From Here?

Fat Lip

I don't think I'll ever forget that night. I was so nervous but so determined to get it over with. I was so irrational inside my own head and was close to psyching myself out. I couldn't have been any happier throughout that whole summer, it was the best one I had ever had. I learned so much and made so many memories.

Ben was so sweet to me every day and like most new couples, we had spent everyday together when we had the time. Also like any other new couple, the honeymoon phase always came to an end.

**

The end of Warped Tour felt so bittersweet; leaving all of my new found friends and going back home felt so terrible. I knew it had to end though and I would forever be grateful for this summer.

I would be walking away with much more than just some experience. I now had friends whom would keep me in mind for tours, some reputation within the community as well as leaving with a boyfriend whom I loved. I was leaving with memories of my first tour.

I smiled as I packed the last of my things. Today was the final day, the big blowout, the go all out day. I was more than excited to go out there and have a good time like the rest of the people on this tour. I was also excited to go back to my average life in a small town nobody cares about.

I walked off my bus to start my day and I think with me always being up bright and early, Ben had become a morning person. He was always up and outside of his bus smoking a cigarette, waiting for me to walk by.

"Hey love." He said and hugged me, planting a kiss on the top of my head then to my lips.

"Hey babe." I smiled and we began walking to the catering tent.

"So are you excited to go home?" He asked and I nodded.

"Going home is a little saddening but I'll be glad not to be getting sunburn everyday." I chuckled and he smiled.

"Yeah, going back to normal is always nice for a little while but after about two weeks you'll be itching to get back on the road." He said and I could see that he truly loved touring the world.

We got our food and sat at one of the empty fold out tables. A few more people came by and sat with us and it was just a good time.

"So is tonight a huge thing? I've been hearing people talking about it all week." I asked and all the people at the table gawked and gaped.

"Are you kidding? The end of the year party is ten times better than the beginning." Levi from Miss May I said with a bright smile.

"Yeah! Kevin makes his amazing barbeque and there's tons of music and dancing and it's just a good time. Once in awhile there will be a proposal or some big announcement from somebody but I don't think anyones planning anything this year, not that I've heard at least." Kellin said and I nodded. I had heard of it and seen pictures from past years.

"What about my barbeque?" Kevin Lyman said as he walked over to our table and was greeted by us all.

"Becca has never had it, she's never been to the end of the year party." Ben chuckled and so did he.

"Well, it's pretty damn good from what I hear. You'll have a good time. It's always a fun night." Kevin smiled and I smiled back. Seems like this party was infamously known by all and very hyped up.

We all parted ways after eating. I had ventured to my first shoot of the day and before I knew it, the sun was setting and I was covered in a dusty film from all the kickup.

I finished my last shoot and went back to my bus to clean myself up and get ready for tonight. Asking was closing it out tonight and I still had a good hour and a half before their set so once I finished getting ready I went over to their bus to do the normal pre show shot.

"Did you have a good last day, Becks?" Cam asked as he opened the bus door and let me in.

"Yeah, got a little dirtier than normal but it was a great day. You guys excited to close out tonight?" I asked and sat on the couch next to James.

"Hell yeah!" Sam clapped and the guys cheered. Ben was still in the back getting ready and Denis was pouring our shots.

"What's the beverage of choice tonight?" I asked and he laughed.

"We're doing Tequila tonight." He smirked and I shook my head. Hardcore alcohol for some hardcore people.

Ben came out of the bunk area and we all gathered around Denis. He handed us our shots and Ben spoke up.

"Here's to the last night of tour. To all the memories made, panties dropped and liquor that was consumed." We all clinked glasses and threw them back. With a few cheers, I sucked down my little chaser and made my regular drink.

"You look great tonight." Ben said with a slight smirk.

"Thanks, figured I'd get a bit dressed up for the last night." I chuckled and gave him a kiss.

I watched as the guys did their pre show stretches and got ready. I had watched them do it so many times over the past few weeks that it was just normal thought the vocal warm ups always made me giggle and I sometimes joined in with Ben and Denis just for the nostalgia of doing it back in middle and high school for chorus.

About twenty minutes before they went on, we walked over to the stage. Ben decided to hold my hand on the way there and I could feel the little butterflies going nuts, like the beginning of the summer.

I could hear screams from across the way as we walked across the lot to the stage and I wondered what it felt like to have people recognize you every day and scream your name.
We got to the stage and I stood back as to not get in the way of them checking their guitars and hyping themselves up.

"Becca, you want to be the hype man tonight?" James asked and I shrugged. We all put our hands in a circle and I spoke up.

"Alright boys, final night, final moment to shut this shit down and go out like the motherfuckers you are. You go out there and kill the show, slay that shit and make the crowd go wild. Go out there, play till you can't play anymore and more importantly, don't fuck up... I'm looking at you James." I chuckled and he flipped me off. "Hmm.. let's go with titties on 3. 1..2...3 TITTIES!" We all yelled and laughed.

"Why titties?" Sam asked and I laughed.

"Why not? titties are great."

"Yes they are." Ben smirked and grabbed my bood and I swatted his hand away.
Two minute warning came and they were bouncing around in the order they would run on stage.

"Kill em out there babe." I winked and gave Ben a kiss just before they ran up the ramp, high fiving the rest of the guys as they ran past.

I stood on the side, watching them captivate the crowd, watching people belt out the lyrics to all the songs. It was mesmerizing.

I sang along and the crew on the stage thought I was crazy, they laughed at me for singing along to my own boyfriends music but I was a fan before a girlfriend.

I got off the stage as they gave a little speech for the end of warped so we could just head off to the bus and as the crowd screamed, I was picked up and twirled around in a gross sweaty hug.

"You really have to stop doing that." I grimaced at Ben as he set me back down.

"You love it." He smirked and bent over to soaked his head with a water bottle and shook like a wet dog.

"Alright boys, great job! Time to get fucked up and send off warped in the best way we know how." Ben yelled and there were cheers.

After all was cleaned up on the venue after everyone had left, the festivities commenced.

People who had finished their duties early in the day were already sloshed.

There were small games going on like cornhole and beer pong as well as some flip cup and some people playing card games. It looked like an actual backyard barbeque. Who know a simple venue lot could turn into a huge chill event.

I had wondered off from Ben once he and the boys started taking shots one right after another to go find this infamous bbq everyone talked about and there I saw, Kevin just hanging behind the big grill.

"Come to try it out, have ya?" He chuckled and I nodded excitedly. I grabbed a plate and decided to go for the brisket. I took a bit and nodded.

"Everyone was right, this is damn good." I chuckled and he smiled.

"Glad you like it." He paused and looked around. "No boyfriend? You guys seemed so inseparable." He laughed.

"We are to an extent, he's just off with the boys, figured I'd get some food before the drinks start flowing." I laughed and he nodded.

"Be careful with that boy, he's a handful sometimes." He laughed but looked serious as well.

"I think I've got him handled... for now at least." I smiled and he nodded. I said goodbye to him and went off to begin the night.

After at least five drinks later, I heard loud yelling. I was sitting at one of the tables with some friends playing cards and looked over to see a large crowd around two people who seemed to be fighting.

"Becca, you gotta come break this up!" Cameron yelled as he ran towards me and I got up and ran, ignoring the alcohol that was going straight to my head. I pushed through the thick crowd of people to see Ben and some dude going at it and I pushed myself between them.

"BECCA, STAY OUT OF THIS!" Ben yelled and I looked at him. I had never seen him like this. His eyes looked black with rage.

"Ben, come on, stop!" I yelled back and tried to pull him away from this dude who kept trying to swing at us.

I felt a fist connect with right shoulder and the rage filled inside and without even thinking I swung, knocking the kid on his ass.

"BEN, GO ON THE BUS!" I screamed and rubbed my shoulder and he turned to go back when the dude decided to speak up.

"What, you need your little fuck buddy to fight your battles?" Ben immediately tackled the guys and started pounding his face into the graveled ground.

James helped me pull Ben off of him and I heard the signature 'bloop bloop' of a squad car pulling up.

People scattered back to their buses and back to what they were doing while I stood there with Sam helping me hold Ben back and James holding the dude to the ground.

"What's going on here?" One officer asked, the other holding a flashlight to us.

"This guy just came up to me and tried to pick a fight." Ben said as he spat out some blood which I wiped away. Sam and I let him go and he looked over at the guy who was just mumbling to himself, clearly out of his head.

The officers nodded and took the guy James was holding over to the squad car, telling us to wait where we were.

They put the guy in the back of the car and one walked back to us while the other talked to the guy. The officer began talking to Ben and before I knew it, he was being handcuffed and put into a squad car.

"Becca, are you alright?" James asked and I just shook my head.

"My boyfriend is going to spend a night in a jail cell, how do you think I'm doing right now?" I said bitterly.

I grabbed my phone and dialed up a cab to go get him. We were both catching flights tomorrow and I was really in no mood for this type of bullshit.
Denis and James came with me since they were catching late flights as well.

"Hi, I was just wondering if this is where Ben Bruce is? I'm his girlfriend." I asked as soon as I reached the desk of the police building.

"One second sweetie." A sweet older lady said as she typed in his name. She nodded.

"Yes, he's here. He won't be released for a few hours though." She sad and I sighed.

"About how long do you think?" James asked and she looked back to the screen.

"After he sobers up a bit and posts bail, he'll be all set. I say about five or six hours." I rubbed my head in frustration.

"If it helps, there's a diner two streets over you can wait around at, little strip mall too." She smiled and said in attempts to make the situation a little better. I thanked her and walked out of the building, James and Denis in tow.

"I'm gonna give the others a call." James said and walked a little bit away from Denis and I.

"Becca, It'll be alright." He said trying to comfort me.

"Really? Because if this is what I have to expect as his girlfriend, I won't put up with it." I yelled and bit and he just kind of stayed quiet.

After James got off the phone, we began walking to this diner the policewoman told us about.

We walked in and were seated. We ordered quickly and I just sat back, disgusted with where I was at mentally.

We stayed quiet most of the time, a little chatter here and there but I think they both knew I wasn't in the mood to talk.

Finally a call came to my phone and it was Ben telling me he had to be picked up. I called a cab to take us back to the police station.

I went inside, paid his bail and when I saw him come out... I wanted so badly to be pissed at him but looking at the dark purplish bruise around his eye and his busted up lip, I couldn't be.

We walked out of the station and into the car where Denis and James waited.

The ride back to the bus was quiet, no one said a word. We were all exhausted and once we got back, everyone crashed except for me.

I stayed up for a while, thinking if this would be a frequent thing.
I saw Ben come out of his bunk and come over to me. I was wrapped in a blanket, staring blankly at the quiet TV.

"Becca.." He said but I didn't look at him.

"Beck, I'm sorry about tonight." He slid next to me.

"Why? What did he say to get you so riled up?" I looked over at him and he didn't say anything. I scoffed and shook my head.

"He was just saying shit about you. I just.. I didn't want him to talk about you the way he was."

I looked at him and just stayed quiet. I appreciated him sticking up for me but there wasn't any need for it.

"Just come to bed, please." He said and I could see the sadness in his face. I got up with the blanket still wrapped around me and rolled into the bunk.

I fell asleep thinking about why he would bother to fight over me, I'm not much to fight about. I'm not worth the bruises on his face.

So much for ending the tour in a great way.
