Cold, Empty Mattresses And Falling Stars

*Cassidy's POV*

I woke up to Mike's arms wrapped around my stomach protectively, I looked at the clock and realized that Austin would be here in half an hour and I still wasn't washed or dressed, I quietly and slowly wriggled out of Mike's grip, I tried not to wake him but that didn't work, "What are you doing?" He asked sleepily as I put the lamp on and rushed around, "I need to leave in 30 minutes" I said switching the shower on and stripping down to my underwear, I didn't care if he was watching or not I just needed to get ready as quickly as I could, I closed the door behind me and jumped in the warm and soothing shower, it was so relaxing but I couldn't stay in there all day so I quickly washed my hair, shaved everywhere whether it needed it or not and jumped out after and wrapped myself up in a towel from the top shelf, which is where we kept our softest towels, I walked through to the room and picked out a simple and plain outfit before quickly changing into it, I done my hair and make up as quickly as I could, I felt my phone vibrating in the pocket of my jeans, when I pulled it out I saw Austin was ringing me, "Hi dad" I smiled answering, "Hey, I'm outside" he said, "Okay, I'll be out in a minute, bye" I said before hanging up, "My dad's out front, I'll see you later yeah" I smiled quickly kissing Mike goodbye, "Yeah, have fun" he said yawning, I quickly grabbed my handbag and rushed downstairs, I saw Austin had parked behind Mike's car so that f Mike was to look out of our window he would only see the top of the car, I jumped in and he immediately started to drive, "Dad eh?" He asked smirking, I smacked him in the chest as we both started to laugh, "So is this your first scan?" Austin asked as we started to drive down a small road, I shook my head, "This is the gender one" I smiled looking at my stomach and placing my hand on it, "May I?" He asked, I sighed and nodded cautiously, "I think it's a boy, Mike thinks it's a girl" I said, he placed his hand on it gently and looked at me smiling before directing his attention to the road again and taking his hand off my stomach, "What?" I asked laughing a little at his face, "It's a boy" he nodded, "What? How can you be sure?" I asked, "I dunno, I just have a feeling" he shrugged pulling into the car park, I laughed a little at his words, "Ready?" He asked as he turned the car off, I nodded and jumped out with him in tow.

My name was quick to be called and thankfully it took no time at all to do some checks, "Do you wanna find out the gender?" The doctor asked I smiled and nodded, "But can you write it down and put it in an envelope or something so my fiancee and I can open it together?" I asked politely, "Of course!" She smiled before putting the gel on my stomach and using the wand and making the picture appear on the screen, it looked so much bigger than it did last time, she looked at me and smiled widely before writing something down on a small piece of paper and putting it in an envelope and handing it to me, "Just get yourself cleaned up and I'll be back with some notes for you" she smiled before leaving the room, I wiped all the gel off with some baby wipes and buttoned my jeans back up before standing to pull my cardigan and bag on, the envelope was very tempting as I stared at it constantly but I knew I had promise Mike and that was a promise I intended to keep it. The doctor came back with a smaller folder than last time and handed it to me, "That's for the munchkin in there" she smiled as she directed the words at the baby growing inside of me, I was glad that the wedding was only a few weeks away as I kept growing larger and I didn't want people to assume I was just fat, despite the fact that I used to eat very little now I go through food like a tornado in Kansas, "Ready to go princess?" Austin asked, I don't know why but I felt a cold shiver shoot down my spine at his small nickname, I smiled and nodded at him before following him out to the car, "Starbucks or home?" He asked as we neared Starbucks, "Duuhh Starbucks" I laughed he smiled and nodded before pulling in, "What do you want I'll run in" he smiled, I nodded and thought for a second, "Pumpkin Spice Latte please" I smiled, he nodded and jumped out, while he was in Starbucks my phone started ringing, it was Mike, "Hello" I answered, "Hi babe, just wondering where you are?" He asked, I rolled my eyes at his protectiveness, "Starbucks, I'll be home in ten" I said rolling my eyes, "Oh okay, great, I have a surprise for you, your dad can come in too" he said, I suddenly started to panic, "Actually..." I started trying to think of an excuse, "My dad has to get back to work so he isn't stopping" I lied, "Ah okay, well hurry home anyway, tell him I said Hi okay, bye sweetheart, I love you" he said in an upset voice so whatever the surprise is he must be proud, "Will do, love you too" I smiled before hanging up just in time for Austin to return, "Everything okay?" He asked handing me my cup, I smiled and nodded before we started driving home.

Sorry I didn't update sooner, my boiler broke so I had no heating and then my Wi-Fi cut out due to the heavy snow we've been getting, I hope you're still enjoying this I have a really good idea for the ending, stay tuned ;)
