What Hurts The Most

The Party Scene

It's been about two weeks and it's been pretty easy going. No drama with Dani, though she did give me dirty looks every once in awhile. Her friends stopped hanging around with her as much and you could tell she was on the decline. I didn't care much though, I pitied her if anything.

Today I would finally get to bring home my little puppy. I was so happy that when the people from the shelter came out and brought him, they loved that I had a fenced in yard and nothing too dangerous for him to be around as well as it being very clean. He looked so happy just running around the yard, very comfortable with his surroundings.

I had gotten home a little while ago, Tony and Jaime wanted to come with me to pick him up but I really wanted it to be a surprise so them and the other two would be waiting for the big reveal back at my house.

I pulled into the lot and felt like a giddy little kid just walking into there. The girls who worked
the front desk smiled brightly at me before one went back to get my little rascal.

"Here he is! He's been so sad since we brought him back here." The girl chuckled and I awwed. I put his red plaid collar around his neck and clipped the matching leash onto him and thanked the girls for all their help and kindness and then we were off.

"You ready to go home, buddy?" He looked up at me, smiling and happy to be out of there. I scooped him up and put him in the car and drove home. He looked so comfy in the back seat, just hanging out, happily looking out the window.

I pulled into my driveway and smiled. I felt happy to have something of my own.

"Alright, let's go!" He hopped right out the car door and ran to me. I grabbed his leash and walked into the house, unclipping it as soon as he saw the boys. They were taken by surprise when this little almost four month old puppy charged them.

"Skye! He's so cute! What's his name?" Jaime asked while rubbing his belly.

"Jock." I chuckled. Tony looked confused while playing with the little ball of fluff.

"Why Jock?" Vic asked.

"From Lady and the Tramp." The recognition soon came over them and we all just sat around playing with Jock. He really loved the boys, Jaime the most though.

"So are excited for tomorrow?" Mike asked. Tomorrow was when we decided the party would be, guess our whole class and then some were coming.

"I guess, I've never hosted a party before." I shrugged.

"It'll be fine, we'll be here to keep it under control." Tony said and I smiled.

We continued playing with my little rascal until he got tired and found his little bed.

"We're gonna play tomorrow night, right?" Jaime asked and Vic nodded. That had been the plan for the jump. I wanted everyone to hear them and get their name out there. I knew that one day they would become famous and I couldn't wait to see them grow.

We talked about what had to be done tomorrow before the party and soon, they left.
I went to sleep not long after, Jock making his way for the first time up the stairs. I picked him up and plopped him down on the bed and soon drifted off to sleep.

It was hectic morning full of arranging things so they wouldn't get ruined, sending the boys out to get supplies and making sure everything was in check for tonight. They told me that everything was fine and it didn't have to be perfect but this was my first fucking house party, I want it to be damn near perfect.

With a few hours to spare, we had finished everything that I wanted to be done.

"Alright, time to drink." Mike said and poured everyone a shot. We threw them back and scoured at the spicy liquid.

"So everything is one hundred percent ready for tonight, right?" I asked and they all nodded, assuring me it was all fine.

We sat around drinking and fucking around until people started to show up. Some just walked into my backyard and others knocked; before I could say wow, my whole house and yard was filled with people I knew and didn't know.

It's a good thing I had put Jock up in my room and locked the door or the poor little nugget would've been crushed.

Music was blasting, people seemed t be having a good time, the boys were setting up to start their little set and I was already overwhelmed.

"Great party, Skye." someone said amongst the crowd of people. I made myself a second drink and smiled as I heard the guys tuning their guitars. I walked out back and stood away against my fence, ready to watch them for the first time. Of all the years I've known them, I've never even seen them rehearse.

"Alright guys, We'd like to say a huge thank you to our girl Skye for throwing this badass party." Vic said into the mic and the crowd cheered. "This one's for you." He pointed me out and the guitars started up.

I listened intently, a huge smile plastered on my face the whole time. I was mesmerized just watching how well they all worked together and how their passion and love for what they do just permeates every aspect of their on stage presence.

They ended their set and the crowd was ecstatic. I felt so proud that most of the people here enjoyed them and their music.

I was scooped up and twirled around.

"You did great babe." I smiled up at Tony as he set me down.

"It felt amazing to be up there." I could see the sparkle in his eyes and knew this is what he would do for the rest of his life. He loved music more than anything.

"You guys were great." I said to the other three who were just as sweaty as my boyfriend.

They smiled brightly before chugging down some water.

A few hours had passed and the party was still banging. People still seemed to have energy while I was burnt out after the third hour. I sat at my patio set with Tony while every enjoyed the party going down.

"You did great tonight babe." Tony said with a loopy smile. He had had a lot to drink thus far, much more than I had but I just smiled at him.

I soon heard some yelling and hopped up.

"What the hell is goin on?" I yelled and Vic popped his head up.

"It's Jaime, He just collapsed, I don't know what to do!" He said in a panic. I looked at Tony, panicking myself and he was already on the phone.

"Everyone out!" Mike screeched and people started to scatter. I ran inside to make sure people weren't inside the house. I checked all the open rooms and kicked people out who were in there and ran back outside.

I was shaking and didn't know what to do.

"Hey, Skye, It's gonna be okay. Just.. Just calm down." Tony said and all I could do was mumble to myself about how irresponsible it was to have a party.

"How long till the ambulance get's here? He needs help now!" Vic said and we both looked down at Jaime who looked like he wa turning blue. I ran to the front once I heard the sirens and led the paramedic to Jaime.

"Has he taken anything?" One paramedic said while the other was trying to get Jaime to wake up.

"Not that we know of sir. We had a party so he probably drank but we don't know if he took anything else." Mike said calmly then just started cursing under his breath.

Another paramedic came back with a stretcher and loaded Hime onto it. At this point I was on the verge of tears seeing him the way he is.

"Where are you taking him?" Vic asked, a croak in his voice.

"Sharp." the paramedic yelled back before climbing in the back of the ambulance and zipping off.

"We have to go, can any of you drive?" Vic said and I ran inside and grabbed my keys.

"Let's go." I said, still shaking.

We all got into my car and I prayed, not being the most religious person, that he would be okay. I didn't want anything to happen to my best friend.

Arriving at the hospital was a struggle and I could barely walk in.

"Jaime Preciado. What room is he in?" Vic said in a panic once again.

"Sir, are you a family member?" The receptionist asked.

"I might as well be!" He raised his voice and then apologized. "I just need to know if he's okay." He said, much calmer now.

"I'm sorry, SIr, but unless you're his immediate family, we can't tell you much." She said with a frown. "We can lead you to a waiting area where the family will be, if you'd like." She said as we started walking away.

"That'd be great, thank you." Vic said with a sigh.

We were lead through a bunch of hallways and into a large private waiting area. I was still shaking, on the verge of tears and trying to tell myself that he would be fine.

We sat for what felt like an eternity until his family members started piling in.

I couldn't even look his mother in the eyes. I could hear her sobs once she entered the room.

"What happened to my baby?" She wailed. I could feel my heart shattering.

"They haven't told us anything, I'm sure his doctor will come in soon." Vic said. The non-verbal silence in the room was unbearable. All to be heard was the small cries from all of us and the comforting murmurs from others.

After a few hours, we had calmed down and a doctor had shown up. The room when silent, waiting for him to say anything remotely good about Jaime. His face looked sad when he looked around the room.

"Who is his parent?" He asked and his mother stood.

They walked out of the room and for a few minutes, it was quiet, all of us looking around the room when a loud wail rang through the hospital.
