Bulletproof Love

Tony’s POV:
“Well” Mike started to tell us the story of why Vic was so protective over Emily. “When Emily was in high school she didn’t have a lot of friends and she got bullied quite a bit. She was going through a very tough time. This all started around when our dad died.” Mike stopped a tear forming in his eye. I remember when their dad died, Vic wouldn’t come to practice because he was so worried about his sister. I remember him saying that he didn’t want to leave her because he was afraid of what she would do. “Eventually Emily stopped talking. She didn’t say a word. As soon as she would come home from school she would go straight to her room. She didn’t eat. Sometimes we would hear her come out of her room but when we would go check on her she ran straight back and locked the door. Vic would sit outside her door for hours. Her going mute made her an easier target for the bullies. She started to come home with bruises and cuts all over. It was terrible to see her like this. We were so helpless. We didn’t think that she would get better. It felt like Em was slowly disappearing from our lives.” He stopped again and took another deep breathe before continuing. “One day Emily came home from school and she didn’t go to her room. She just sat at the kitchen table. Vic and I were both shocked so Vic started talking to her. He asked how school had went, and she said something. It was so great to hear her voice again. She told us about a new friend she had. She started to smile into her words and it was amazing. Her smile was back as well as her voice. So um anyways this Alex kid. He was in a band and he was also her best friend. Emily would invite him over and the would be together for hours at a time. I remember one time I was listening to their conversation and I heard her say that if he ever left her life she would probably die. Eventually Emily and Alex started dating and Em would go see his shows. It was like every fan girls dream to be dating the lead singer of a band. But this kid’s band started to get bigger and bigger. They did more shows and even started to tour. Alex told Em that he was going to be going on his first real national tour. Of course she was sad that he was going to be gone but she was so supportive and proud. After the tour started Alex never responded to Emily’s texts or calls and when he did answer he said he was too busy. It ended terribly. He basically left her just stranded and alone. Her depression kicked back in and got so much worse. She picked up Vic’s old habit and we ended up taking her to the hospital for stitches way too often.” My heart dropped. Vic’s old habit. Cutting. Emily had cut herself. It was hard enough to see Vic go through that, but to find out his sister, the girl I’m falling for, has been through it that really killed me. ”Wait Alex? As in Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low?” Jaime said. At first I was confused but then realized that it had to be him. It just made sense. Mike just nodded and then started to talk again. “So basically Vic swore that he would never let Emily get hurt again, and with you guys being in the band and all, Vic made sure that she never met you.” I must have looked extremely sad because mike quickly added, “Tone, for all its worth I knew you two would get along from the moment I met you. I’m sorry it’s ending so badly.” It wasn’t over was it? It can’t be I need to see her again. I she’s perfect. “Hey we should go find her!” Jaime said standing up and heading toward the door. “Hime we have sound check in ten minutes.” I said wishing that we could just go find her now. He nodded and sat back down. “ But” he said dragging out the T. “We are in San Diego for three more days, so she can’t just hide forever. Plus her red hair is a dead giveaway well find her eventually!” Jaime said giving both Mike and I a little more hope.
