Lava Lamp Kisses and Burnt Skin

The Drug in Me is You

(Taylor’s POV)
“Taylor, you’re looking fine this evening. Did you dye your hair?” Mark asked me. I shuddered. I tried to ignore his gaze when I felt Mike wrap his arm around me.
“I think we’re done here.” Sam said. He grabbed my arm and started walking, when I felt someone grab my other arm.
“No, I haven’t seen you guys in a while. Why don’t we catch up?” Mark said, looking at me. I felt my stomach turn.
“I don’t think so.” Sam said pulling me away. Mike grabbed me, and hid me behind him. I closed my eyes, praying that this day would just end. That I could just not exist anymore.
“That’ll be enough. Where’s mom?” Sam asked. We heard a door slam and we all looked up. And there was my mom, in a drunken state, at the top of the stairs.
““I’m right here Sam. And look, you brought friends.” Mom said coming from her room. She stumbled about and walked down stairs.
“Yes Mom. We have something to discuss. Alone.” Sam said, looking at Mark.

“Whatever you have to say, you can say in front of him.” Mom said. I inhaled sharply.
“Well, we thought it over, and with Taylor out of school for the summer, we want her to go on tour with us.” Sam said. My breathe got caught in my throat as the room fell silent.
“No.” Mom said.
“Look, mom,” I started to say.
“She’s not going. End of story.” Mom said. I looked at Sam. My heart sank. I knew there was no arguing with her. I couldn’t believe what I was about to say, and right then, I knew that I was going to be in trouble.
“No, I’m not going to sit here and let you control my life. I am going, mother. And you can’t stop me.” I said really fast. They all looked at me. “What?”
“No, you’re not going. You need to focus more on your grades than whatever it is that you’re planning on doing. I don’t want you pregnant and regretting everything that you’ve done.” She said.
“Mom, I’m not going to get pregnant. I’ve never done anything and you know it.” I started yelling, getting furious.
“I don’t appreciate that tone young lady. You’re not going and that’s final.” Mom yelled back. I took a step toward Mom and Mark stepped in.
“I think we’re done here. Taylor’s staying here and you faggots can go do whatever your people do.” Mark replied. I cringed at the word ‘faggots.’ Mark never liked Sam, but I didn’t think he’d go as far as calling him names. I felt someone grab my arm, and looked up. Mark was extremely close to me. He pulled me close to him and I could smell the alcohol. Mom left and went back upstairs.
“Get off of her.” I heard Sam said trying to get him off of me. He pried his hand off of my arm and threw me to Mike. Mark swung at Sam and I saw Sam ducked. I started yelling when Sam hit him in the face, and he fell. Hard. Sam turned to Mike.
“Run.”

(Mike’s POV)

I grabbed Taylor and ran. We got outside to the car where the boys were.
“What happened?” I heard Vic say. We got in the car and I didn’t let go of Taylor. Her breathing was heavy and I could tell she was going to have a panic attack. I started kissing the top of her head and whispering that it’ll be alright.
“What the fuck happened?” Vic said again. We heard a slam and looked up. Sam came running down the stairs and got into the car.
“Okay, it might be safe to say ‘let’s get the hell out of here.’” He said. Vic shifted into reverse and pulled out of the drive way. I looked down and Taylor looked like she had seen a ghost. Her face was white and she was staring into space, and her breathing was still heavy.
“Taylor? It’s going to be okay.” I kept reassuring her. I pulled her close and kissed her forehead again. I was replaying the looks that that bastard was giving her. How could her mom allow that to happen? Sam turned around and looked at her.
“Taylor? Look at me okay? You’re safe. I promise.” He said. Her breathing slowed down. I sighed.
“Let’s just say, the talk didn’t go so well.” I said. Vic looked in the review at me. I shook my head.
“Where are we going?” Tony said from the back.
“To our house.” Vic said. I felt Taylor move and sank further into me. I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her in. This is where I want to be.

-15 minutes later-

“She won’t let her go. She’ll put up the defenseless mom and get everyone on her side. We just have to find a way to let her go, but mom will find a way to unravel it. I know her.” Sam said. I walked Taylor inside and sat her down on the couch. She curled up and closed her eyes. I walked up to Sam and pulled him into the kitchen.
“What the hell was that back there?” I asked. Well demanded.
“Okay, but you have to promise not tell anyone.” I nodded. “Dad died when I was 8, Taylor was 5, and Mom had lost it. She became dependent on alcohol, and other men. Mom soon lost her job when she kept showing up late. I had to get a job as soon as I turned 14 and was paying the bills. Than Mark showed up. He paid for everything. If mom had sex with him and his friends. Of course mom didn’t argue. It was free money. I kept working, for extra money. And for what Taylor needed. I guess you can say I kinda became more of a dad to her than a brother. Then one night, I had gotten home from band practice early, I’m glad I did, because when I walked in the front door, I heard screaming. Mom was passed out on the couch drunk, and the place was in shambles. I ran toward the screaming and found Mark and 3 of his friends around Taylor. I got closer to see Mark on top of her. His friends were cheering him on like he was winning some prize. He raped my sister, right in front of me. I tried to stop him, but his friends got in between and held me back. After he was done, he left to go to my mom. I held Taylor while she cried. She was 13 when it happened.” He said, starting to cry. I patted his back and took a deep breathe. I’m going to kill that bastard. How could her mom let that happen to her? And still have that creep around? I couldn’t believe it. I walked back into the living room with Sam. Vic, Tony and Jaime were sitting down looking at Taylor.
“What’s wrong?” I asked.
“Why don’t I just run away?” I heard Taylor say.
“She’ll say we kidnapped you.” Sam said.
“Not if I prove that I was willing to go with you.” She said back. Where did this come from?
“She can’t prove anything to the police that we did kidnap her. I say we go with it.” Tony piped up.
“Look, I’ve wasted enough of my life trying to please her. After tonight, I’m done. I’m going on tour. And she can’t make me.”

Wow okay wrong again, I hate her and her disgusting asshole boyfriend even more. I don't care what kind of emotional distress you're going through, allowing your child to be abused and keep her abuser in her life is sick. You're not a mom, at. All. I kinda felt for her because she was vulnerable and had this boyfriend forcing her to sleep with him and his friends in exchange for stability. But I no longer have sympathy, that's your daughter, she should be a priority not something you offer up to keep that prick around.
Also she's 21, a legal adult. Ik they have a hold on her because of how controlling they are, but if she chooses to leave theres nothing they can legally do.
And mike is adorable in this chapter btw

I think that'll actually be pretty cool. I think both character's perspectives are pretty important to the storyline and future development

I think what I'm going to do is have it both from Sam's and Taylor's POV where it shows how Taylor is overcoming all of this and show how Sam is helping her. It may not be as much of a love story as I had hoped, but it'll have its perks.

Oh wow and I thought I didn't like their mom before. She's so overbearing and co dependent. Taylor's 21, but she still treats her like a child and restricts her from making any decisions on her own. That's so freaking ridiculous. And that boyfriend of hers, mark, he's a complete creep. I can just picture the way he was looking at Taylor and the way he kept grabbing at her. Are you kidding me prick?! and don't even get me started on his homophobia. I'm so happy he knocked the jerk out. I was confused at first when Sam warned mike about running, but now it makes sense. She needs to get away and honestly get away from her mom and her toxicity for a good while. She has to learn to stand on her own.
