You'd Better Hide the Bullets

Walking to school was like a huge throwback to my first day at Mission Bay high school, except this time I was dating the school bully instead of fearing him. It's weird how times change.

I stepped through the gates and everything was as it should be, just how it usually is. Kids everywhere doing their own thing, friends chatting about boys they liked and guys checking out other chicks. It was standard.

My feet guided me towards the front entrance but stopped when I heard my name being called. "Scarlett!?" I turned around to see Patrick running towards me. It felt like I haven't seen him in a lifetime.

He attacked me with a hug and I wrapped myself around him. "I've missed you so much you geeky fuck." I squealed.

"It's only been like 5 days since I last saw you Scarlett." He laughed, letting me go.

"Yeah but it feels longer because I've been in New York." I laughed, we began walking in the direction of our lockers.

"So how was it?" He sounded like a teenage girl grasping for some gossip.

"I went to New York and I found him, we talked about stuff and he asked me to be his girlfriend." I gave him the short answer because it was easier than explaining it all.

"That's good, I'm glad you guys have finally worked it out." He laughed, we got to my locker and I put stuff away.

"So what have I missed?" I asked curiously.

"Pretty much nothing. Jaime has a new girlfriend." He told me. I'm glad Jaime isn't like, hung up on me or anything. I think having sex with him was kinda like I was leading him on which I never intended to do.

"That's great, have you guys met her yet?" I asked, closing my locker.

"Nah not yet but we are having a party at Pete's this weekend and he's bringing her so you'll meet her then." Patrick smiled as we walked towards his locker.

"I'm grounded Patrick." I sighed, we got to his locker and he gave me a sad look.

"That sucks." He said opening it and putting his stuff away.

"I know, I'll see what I can do though." I smiled at him and we walked off to our first class.

Vic stood next to me, leaning against the locker next to mines as he waited for me to get something. "I just think that it's a bit funny how your sister shit herself the second I ran away." Vic pointed out.

"She's a crazy fucker, what can I say." I said in a bored tone. It's all he's talked about for the past 10 minutes.

"Well I'm glad she's leaving, it's kinda awkward if I'm at yours and she's there." Vic laughed, playing with a locker padlock.

"What like it was for me when you dated her?" I snapped and slammed my locker shut. He was startled by my sudden out burst.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to go on about her." He stood up straight, pulling me into his arms making me feel bad the outburst.

"I'm sorry I snapped there, it's just you've no idea how difficult it was watching you with my sister all those months." I sighed, hugging him back.

"I know and I'll make it up to you, I'm sorry I was such an asshole." He mumbled into my hair and kissed the top of my head. "Let's go get lunch." He said softly. I looked up at him and nodded.

We walked towards the cafeteria holding hands and talking about silly things, Vic was really good at making me laugh which I would have known sooner if I didn't already hate him. We walked into the lunch room and suddenly everyone looked at us, like everyone. Remember that scene in Twilight when she goes to school with Edward and everyone is staring at them as they leave his car? Yeah it was like that. "Everyone is staring at us." I mumbled to Vic. He just looked down at me and then dragged me to our table.

"Well the it couple have arrived." Pete said sarcastically as we both sat down. I flipped him off and got my sandwich out of my back.

"You guys are just super jealous that we are shit hot and you are just shit not." I said with sass. Everyone laughed at me.

"So we heard you got grounded." Pete pointed out.

"Yep." I said while popping the p. He just grinned and took a bite of his sandwich.

"So you're not coming to the party on Friday?" Mike frowned. I shook my head no.

"Sorry my friend, I don't wanna anger my parents. I mean I'll ask but it's probably a no." I sighed.

"That sucks, we were gonna play Cards Against Humanity." Tony threw his sandwich down dramatically.

"I'm sorry Tony, but it was worth it." I smiled to myself, lowering my head to hide the smile. I took a bite of my sandwich and tried to avoid everyone. Things were definitely changing.

Me and Amber walked towards the P.E department, fearing the horrible class ahead of us. We are both the most un-athletic people in the world but here we are being forced to play soccer. "So are you happy now you're with Vic?" She asked me, kicking stones as we walked.

"I think so, I feel butterflies every time I see him." I could feel myself blushing again.

"Well I think you guys are extremely cute together and I like it." She said as we walked into the building. We quickly got changed into our sports clothes and walked out into the field.

Teams were picked and luckily I ended up on Ambers. We both were put mild field and we were confused as to why. The ball got passed to me and I panicked and kicked it to someone else. "Oh my God, she totally freaked out." One girl laughed. I looked to see who it was and noticed it was a girl called Kelly. She was in a few of my classes but I never spoke to her, all I know I she's kinda popular.

I ignored the comment and continued playing until she came up to me with another girl by her side. "Yes?" I asked as they stood in front of me.

"We heard that you're dating Vic Fuentes?" Kelly asked, giggling a little. Wow this feels like I'm in Mean Girls now. Who says high school isn't like a movie?

"Yeah." I said casually. They both laughed and looked at each other.

"Why is he dating you? You're so tragic. Plus you used to be fat." Kelly said in a totally bitchy voice. I rolled my eyes and tried to walk around her but she stood in my way.

"Excuse me." I said obnoxiously. She just laughed and looked at her friend.

"Sorry am I in your way?" She smirked at me. I tried to walk around her again and she did the same thing so I lost my mind. I punched her on the nose, sending her straight to her ass. She let out a huge cry and grabbed her nose, I could see the blood pouring down her shirt. Oh shit.

The teacher came over and looked at us in horror. "Scarlett, principals office now." He said sternly. Fucking great. I stormed off towards the principles office still in my shorts and white t-shirt.

When I got to the office I noticed Vic sitting in the chairs waiting. Aren't we a couple and a half. I rolled my eyes and sat down next to him. "What did you do?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at me.

"Punched Kelly Little in the face." I said casually. "You?" I asked looking at him.

"Walked out of class when my English teacher sprung a solo talk on me that I missed while I was away." He shrugged. I nodded and shook my head.

"Maybe you're gonna win that twenty bucks after all." I sighed, running my hands over my face.

"You're making me a better person and I'm making you a worse person." Vic said softly, I looked at him and grinned.

"I kinda like it." I said wiggling my eyebrows. He started blushing and then the principle came out and looked between us.

"What have you two been up to now." He sighed, shaking his head at us. We both just looked at each other innocently and then looked back at the principle. Yep, perfect couple indeed.
