The Last Punch

Jaime pulled up to Mel’s apartment and Alex was waiting outside for her on the steps of the building. I texted him that we had landed and were heading his way.. ya’ know, so he could surprise Mel. As soon as Mel saw him she bolted out of the car and jumped into his arms. The smile on their faces was priceless, contagious even. I began to smile and Tony looked back at me. I began to blush and got out of the car.
“I love you so much Mel. I’ve missed you so much!” Alex said still holding Mel up. As I got to the trunk I saw that Jaime had popped the trunk.
“I love you too Alex. I fucking missed you…” Mel said digging her face into his neck. She was on the verge of tears and so was Alex. I giggled and got out Mel’s bags. Alex put her down, Mel still attached to him. I brought her stuff to them and Alex nodded.
“Bye babes, have fun with Gags-karth.” I said touching her back and winking at Alex. He smirked and rubbed Mel’s back. She turned around to look at me. Alex’s hands wrapped around her waist, keeping her close to him.
“Love you babes.” Mel said smirking. They grabbed her bags and quickly headed into the apartment building. I got back to the car and slid onto the back seat. Ellie giggled at me and I poked her nose, her hand rushing to make sure her nose was still there.
“They’re so cute.” Jaime said pulling into the street. He looked at Tony and smiled. “But not as cute as you two.” He justified, tapping his thumbs on the steering wheel. He had the rough cut of the new album playing. Jaime like str listen to see what he needs to fix.
“Not as cute as you and— Never mind.” I said moving my hand to my thighs. I looked at the floor and couldn’t bare to glimpse at Ellie, she looked too much like her. Lian I mean. Jaime coughed awkwardly and I could tell I shouldn’t have spoken without filtering my thoughts. “Sorry Hime…” I said quietly, nearly breaking a mumble.
“No Alex it’s okay.” Jaime reassured, or at least he tried. His voice broken and he kept quiet. For the remainder of the ride Lian was all my brain could think of. From the day we first said hello to the day we said our last goodbye. The time we met Toby came into my mind, and how we saved him from Restoration Hardware. And the day we all met Emerald, and how her last words to me were just shit talking Lian.
“Dude the new album is gonna be sick!” Tony claimed, tying to break the sad silence. Jaime agreed brightly, trying to stray from the topic of Lian. Soon enough we came to the turn to my apartment or Tony’s house. I opted for my house, seeing as to Ghostie was waiting for me. Tony insisted that I was not to be left home alone. He was moving in and I knew it was for good this time.
“Ghostie!!” I said repeatedly bouncing in the backseat. The guys were laughing at me and I just laughed. Even Ellie was giggling at me.
“And, we are here.” Jaime said parking on the side of the street, my beloved car was parked in my usual spot behind the building. I kissed Hime on the cheek and thanked him for the ride and pick up. He, as usual, brushed it off and said ‘anytime’. Tony thanked him also and shook his hand. I kissed Ellie goodbye and so did Tony.
“Home sweet hole.” I laughed digging the bags out of the trunk.
“You’re such a nerd.” Tony said laughing at me. He pulled me close and I giggled. We got all of the bags out of the trunk and firmly shut it. Tony hit the side of the car and Jaime waved, trying to get Ellie to wave too. We turned to walk into my building and I looked at Tone.
“You do know that this is all stairs to the fifth floor right?” I shared with Tony and he nodded.
“Remember I was here. I fell asleep in the loft and told you I loved you. And you never believed it cause I was sleeping… I meant it. And now you know.” He kissed the top of my head and I smiled.
“Well… uh.. okay.” I blushed, leading Tony up the stair to my secluded, calm fifth floor red door.
