Love Like a Tidal Wave.

Life Can Do Terrible Things.

Every muscle in Magdalynn's body was shaking as she sat in the cold waiting room. Her stomach was churning from the nerves. Vic squeezed her hand tight and tried to keep himself calm. He knew that if he showed any signs of nervousness or fear, she would melt down. Once again, she was called back, measured, and asked to change into a paper gown. The nurse left, and the doctor came in. He shook both Vic and Magdalynn's hands, and sat down on a rolling stool.

“So, we're here to review your MRI results” He flipped through her chart. He took a deep breath and blew it out slowly. “Magdalynn, we found something that appears to be a cancerous tumor. We won't know completely until we perform a biopsy.” He frowned and looked down at his shoes. Any color that was left in Magdalynn's face drained. She hopped up and ran to the trash can, violently puking. Vic came behind her and grabbed her hair, pulling it out of her face and rubbing her back. She began sobbing, and she was choking back tears as she heaved again. Collapsing to the floor, she hugged her knees in tight and buried her face into them. She couldn't have cancer. She wasn't ready to die. She needed more time. Time to graduate college, get an amazing career, and travel the world. She wanted to have a family one day, to live in a two story house with 2.5 kids and a white picked fence. But mostly, she was afraid to leave Vic. She had fallen for him so hard over the past few months, and she couldn't bear hurting him with this. Finally, she composed herself and got up off the ground. She wiped off her face, then sat back up on the table. The doctor grabbed her hand and squeezed it.

“So what happens now?” She asked shakily, trying to hold back more tears.

“Well like I said, we're going to have to perform a biopsy. If it's found to be malignant, we will need to perform radiation treatment. If we find it to be benign, we will most likely just try to remove it surgically. In either case, we will most likely have to remove all breast tissue. We don't want this to spread, and we're hoping that it doesn't. But there's one more thing we need to talk about. Magdalynn, you're urinalysis came back. You're pregnant.”

This time, the color in Vic's face drained. Something that he knew he was not ready to be was a father. He could handle almost everything else that came his way, but this was way out of his league. On top of that, his girlfriend might have cancer. His heart was pounding, his palms were sweaty, and his mind was racing. What happens when he goes on tour? They had one coming up in just under a month. What about their baby? How was he going to support a little one? And what happens if Magdalynn dies? A tear escaped from his eye and he quickly wiped it away. No. He wouldn't think of that. He couldn't bear that thought. Not even one bit.

“Baby, are you listening?” Magdalynn asked Vic. He snapped out of his thoughts and turned his attention to her.

“I'm sorry, I zoned out for a second.” He admitted.

“I was just saying, we have a few options. Pregnant women can't undergo radiation treatment. So if that's the path we have to take, it might be in your best interest to abort the baby” He frowned.

“Hell no. I will NOT give up my child. As much as I want this to be alright, and I want to live, mine and Vic's child is growing inside of me, and I refuse to give that up”

“Sweetie, just listen to what the doctor has to say at least. I love you, and if we really want a child together, we can try again once you're better, and..”

“Victor fucking Fuentes don't you dare start that shit with me!” Magdalynn shrieked, shocking both the doctor and Vic. “This is our child. If you didn't want to deal with the possibility of this consequence, you shouldn't have shoved your fucking dick in me!” She was on her feet now, screaming in Vic's face. For someone so small, she was terrifying when she was angry. It was the Italian bloodline.

“Magdalynn, please, sit down” the doctor requested, gesturing back to the table. She was fuming, her face red and hot. She wanted to cry, run away, crawl into bed and never leave. But mostly right now, she wanted to strangle Vic. She couldn't believe him.

“We're going to send you for your biopsy. From there, we'll look at our options. Go ahead and get dressed. I'll meet you at the front desk with some information” He left the room and the door clicked behind him. Magdalynn slid off her gown and redressed, not even glancing in Vic's direction.

“Mags, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to..”

“Save it Vic. We'll talk about it when we get home, but right now, all I need is for you to shut your goddamn mouth”. Vic knew he had really done it. They had been in a few little spats, so Vic knew that her anger could be bad, but he had never seen this side of her. They walked together towards the waiting room and she approached the desk, grabbing a piece of paper. They walked out of the door in silence, Magdalynn a few steps ahead of Vic. She pulled her keys out of her purse and handed them to him.

“I need you to drive. I have a few phone calls to make” She wouldn't even make eye contact with him.

“Am I taking you to your apartment or my house?” Vic asked, speaking softly.

“My apartment. I need Atticus” She said, referring to her cat.

On the way home, Magdalynn spoke to her mom. She was crying, but composed. She was really good at composing herself and fighting through stress. Anger was a different story. She could hold a grudge like nobody's business. She told her mom about the pregnancy, and Vic heard a bit of yelling. Finally, after talking almost all of the way back to her apartment.

“What did your mom say about the baby?” Vic asked, scared for the answer. He had met her mom when they played in Denver. He absolutely adored her, and vice versa.

“She's disappointed, but she said that it's not something that she didn't see coming. She likes you Vic.” Magdalynn sighed as she unbuckled her seat belt. “I'd like you to come upstairs with me” She said, sensing that he was hesitating on whether or not to just let her be. He came around to open her door, then closed it behind her and followed her upstairs.

She sat down on couch and Atticus crawled right into her lap. Vic sat next to her, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. She stayed slightly tensed, making sure that he knew that she was still mad at him. He kissed her temple, and she relaxed slightly.

“So, tell me whats on your mind. I'm sorry for anything I said that I offended you. I love you. If you choose to have the baby, I will be there every single step of the way. I want to support you. On that note, I want you alive as well. I can't handle losing you”.
