Mike Fuentes liked to drink. He liked to go to parties. He didn't have a job. He didn't have a car. He lived in a shitty house with his shitty parents. He smoked too much. He lied too much. They were all just poor kids with tragic pasts that chose to escape in drugs and alcohol. They were a text book example of what they called a 'self-fulfilling prophecy'. Lucy was the complete opposite of Mike. She didn't have friends. She didn't drink. She had never been to a party. She had a job. She had a car. She lived in a decent house with her decent parents. She had never smoked. She didn't lie and even when she tried she was terrible at it. She was a virgin and the only thing she knew about drugs she learned in health class. She put everyone else before herself. She lived her life exactly how she felt she was supposed to.
